"The Democrats do not have a ‘young voter problem.’ Nor do they have a ‘Latino voter problem,’ a ‘working-class voter problem,’ or a ‘male voter problem.’ The Democratic Party’s poor performances with various demographics can be traced to an underlying cause: The Democrats have a Democrat problem. With exceptions, the party is composed of officials, staffers, pundits, donors, and politicians who do not believe in politics, at least not in the literal sense of the word. While most parties try to build support by turning their constituents’ wishes into policy, the Democrats take the opposite approach. The political objective is determined by wealthy party and media insiders, who then try to convince their constituents that the elite-decreed platform is in their best interest. This was best illustrated in the concluding chapter of Abundance, which outlined a top-down political theory: the policies are decided by the donor class, and the job of Democrat-aligned media and politicians is to sell those policies to American voters.
‘It requires deep-pocketed donors (and political action committees) to invest in promising candidates over the long term; the establishment of think tanks and policy networks to turn political ideas into actionable programs; a rising political party able to consistently win over multiple electoral constituencies; a capacity to shape political opinion both at the highest levels (the Supreme Court) and across popular print and broadcast media; and a moral perspective able to inspire voters with visions of the good life. Political orders, in other words, are complex projects that require advances across a broad front.’ — Abundance, by Derek Thompson and Ezra Klein"

rap has probably been the most consistently popular and influential genre of music for the past 40+ years but your average person on tumblr is less willing to listen to it than a random white teenage boy in the suburbs or a 4channer who lurks on /mu/ every once in a while

UN says it’s starvation.
EU says it’s starvation.
USAID says it’s starvation.
PVA says it’s starvation.
Even Trump says it’s starvation.
Everyone admits it — except Israel, the one doing it.
Forced starvation is not “self-defense.” It’s genocide.
My family desperately needs help to recover and survive, please donate whatever you can to us here

"Why is ContraPoints saying [advocating for Palestine] is totally futile? Because ContraPoints doesn't want to do anything about it... She feels that the only reasonable way to live is to accept that things are bad and not going to change. Even though that is actually unreasonable. Even though it is actually also morally quite bankrupt. You are the one who is experiencing doom. That is the thing that you feel. That does not mean other people are supporting a doomed cause. It means that you feel doom about their cause. Examine why you might feel that way. They thought Vietnam was a doomed cause, too. Cuban revolution was a doomed cause. Chinese revolution was a doomed cause... "Zero Palestinian lives were saved"... I don't think this is true. For instance, think about the vast amount of fundraising campaigns that have tangibly helped, even as aid is blockaded in Israel, that has tangibly helped Palestinians. They have gained support as a result of this activism. So saying "zero Palestinian lives were saved" again, this is not true. This is not true. But second of all, even if it was true, you're going to blame people for speaking out against things that are actually wrong because it wasn't effective enough instead of just like offering better ways to do it? Does something have to be done or not? Does something have to be done or not?"

A trans woman was just sentenced to 15 years in prison for defending herself from an attacker. She wanted no part in the fight and witnesses described her actions as self-defense. With right-wing media constantly portraying her as "evil" since the incident, the trial was over before it began.

It's not a virtue to focus totally on your own peace and disregard problems around you. Ironically, it's also not a virtue to stew in your own anxiety.

PLEASE HELP US!!
I’m posting this comic again to remind people why we have to rely on this campaign instead of humanitarian organizations. Almost none of them are ever seen in our area and the ones that come do exactly this : ignore us, eat and drink in front of us, give food to only a few selected families and leave. You guys are the only ones willing to help us.
If you look at our campaign and think we’ve received enough, I promise it’s not the case. I’m thankful for every single dollar that’s been donated, but $100 in northern Gaza is worth less than $10 wherever you live. And that’s not taking into account the crazy deductions deducted by Chuffed, Paypal and the bank. It feels awful that people give us everything they can and I still have to say it’s not enough to house and feed a family, but that’s the unfortunate reality. We still need you.
Please don’t stop supporting us. Even if you can’t afford to donate, I assure you sharing my posts helps a ton. Don’t abandon us 😭🙏
✅Vetted by @gazavetters, my number verified on the list is ( #347 )✅
PLEASE DONATE HERE

Today, the Palestine tag is trending on Tumblr — and among the posts is a photo of my daughter, Ronza. A fragile little girl suffering from severe malnutrition, whose story I shared, pleading for help. Her image is now reaching millions of people... but sadly, only a few have responded.
We are not okay. We are not safe. We are living in unimaginable conditions — and tomorrow is Eid al-Adha, a holiday that should bring joy, new clothes, laughter, and celebration to children. But how can my children celebrate when there is no food, no water, no medicine? How can they smile in new clothes when their weak bodies can barely stand?
We are in Gaza — trapped, starving, broken. Every day is a battle for survival.
I am begging you, before it’s too late —Please donate to help Ronza. Her life depends on it. Every contribution, no matter how small, can make the difference between life and death.
Please share this message. Let Ronza’s face be more than just a trending image — let it be a call to action. A reason to save a life.
I would like to inform you that my campaign is documented and approved.
