Hello my fellow peering eyes I got a story that will make you feel like you're under the rule of a dictator who only cares about control. Want to peer for yourself well go ahead.
Year 2560, after the ascension of the Blind Ascender, on the planet Searth.
The Decider: (lets out a sigh of relief) Just another day in office. (presses intercom) Send in the Viper Recon Reporter.
(A black-armored humanoid enters, his form a fusion of snake-like genetics and human biology.)
Viper Recon Reporter: Good morning, ssssir.
The Decider: First off—let’s get something clear. You address me as The Decider. So it’s Yes sir, Decider sir, not GOOD MORNING SSSSIR.
And why are you still hissing sir? I thought the Viper Guard experiment was perfected.
Viper Recon Reporter: I apologizssse, sssir Decider sssir. But unlike mossst experimentsss conducted under your sssscientists’ watch, thissss exssperiment sssstill producccesss abnormalitiesss.
The Decider: Eh, whatever. Here’s how this goes: I’ll ask questions about your varioussss reportssss, and you’re going to anssswwer them. Issss that undersssstood?
Viper Recon Reporter: Yessss, sssir Decider sssir.
The Decider: (lets out a brief chuckle) Good. First question—have the superheroes I sent out failed?
Viper Recon Reporter: They have ssssucceeded, bringing in ten cyber thugssss and five armed human thugssss into our cusssstody for interrogation, sssir Decider sssir.
The Decider: But no progress on capturing that Wright girl—witch—or news of her death, right?
Viper Recon Reporter: Correct, sssir Decider sssir.
The Decider: (sighs) Do you think that bounty hunter we hired last week still remembers his wife?
Viper Recon Reporter: I have no input on that, sssir Decider sssir... assss I have never been ssshot asss many timessss asss he wassss, and ress ss ssurrected with my memoriessss intact.
The Decider: Hmm. You just gave me an idea for a new experiment... but never mind that.
Now then—how are our young and bright students doing in the beautiful half of this city?
Viper Recon Reporter: Sssso far, that ssssection of the city is ssssecure. No reportssss of cassssualtiesss. I cannot comment on how the sssstudentssss are doing academically, sssir Decider sssir.
The Decider: I’ll just ask the dean for bullet points. What about the less desirable half?
Viper Recon Reporter: There appearssss to be militia occupying ruined buildingsss, with increassssing criminal activity, sssir Decider sssir.
The Decider: Good. Never cared for that part anyway—too many rats and not enough luxury.
Next—have you spotted any drones in the area? And I mean any built by that machinist kid I had executed ten years ago.
Viper Recon Reporter: No ssssir, Decider sssir.
The Decider: Good. I still have nightmares about him coming back as some nanite-possessed abomination to get revenge.
Were there any survivors from that… incident between the two political parties? Fifteen years ago?
Viper Recon Reporter: Do bysssstanders not affiliated with the partiessss count, sssir Decider sssir?
The Decider: (grins deviously) No.
Viper Recon Reporter: Then no, sssir Decider sssir.
The Decider: Good. Final question: how are the experiments going… aside from the one you were part of?
Viper Recon Reporter: Ah, yessss. The sssscientissst reported he will not deliver an update until progressss is confirmed. He wantsss to avoid being fired, sssir Decider sssir.
The Decider: AHAHAHAHAHA… HAHAHAHA!
Does he not know I sometimes joke around? That was a joke—it’d be too expensive to replace him.
Viper Recon Reporter: Unfortunately, he didn’t sssound like he detected the joke, sssir Decider sssir.
The Decider: Then tell him if he doesn’t laugh—he’s fired.
Actually, tell him he can take a couple days off. For now.
As for the rest of your report… just give me bullet points. Or send someone with lessssss ssss’s in their throat to do it.
You can go now.
(The Viper Recon Reporter turns and walks out, closing the door slowly behind him.)
