This is a new blog but I'm an old fan. For Ten Years as a fan, I've been an active lurker but I've always missed out on talking to other fans, and being able to discuss the things that people discuss in private. I'd like to use this blog to post what I love (destiel, cockles) and also my fascination with the actors, show buisness, and everybody involved in Supernatural. I have a bit of an interest in psychology and I'm odd in that I'm totally nonjudgmental because of it. Over the years, I have accumulated some noteworthy posts in the likes of my original non-fandom blog, which I will be occasionally reblogging here, since I originally created this blog to have a place to clean out my likes. Talk to me!

now that you mention it, we actually don’t know if Dean originally died because of the rebar. Jensen said he said he got it changed from dying cradled in Sam’s lap, because he wanted Dean to “die standing.” So, actually, it was Jensen’s choice to have Dean die on a rusty nail xD
I think the death scene is probably the only part of that finale he was proud of. The fight leading up to it, the funeral, Heaven? ehh it seems all but forgotten. Instead he talks about what they wanted to do instead, and what could have happened.
From Scripthunt or panels, do we know when the stage direction about not reciprocating was put in and by whose suggestion? Was it Berens himself and how early, for example, or was it a late add after insistence by someone else (and whom)
Those words were in all the versions of the scripts that we've had or heard about. Berens said he wrote the scene the very first thing for the season and I haven't heard reports of that scene being edited, although only he would know for sure. Multiple cast and crew have said there was no later editing of that scene and we have at least 3 separate versions of that script. They did change some things, like the name. It was originally "The Truth".
"Can't reciprocate" can mean a variety of things, including that Dean can't reciprocate in the moment, so I don't think it means much in isolation.
However, there were crew/other people who leaked the scene before the show ended. I got a copy of the script early on - I think April? - and the reason some people leaked it is because they were upset over how Castiel was treated in the narrative.
One of my early sources, who ended up being right about basically everything they said, also said that Dean reciprocating was never pitched or planned at all. They said that Berens wrote the scene with "can't reciprocate" in part because it was part of his strategy to get TPTB to approve it because it was a bit of a hard sell. I don't believe that Berens has ever publicly confirmed or denied this, but since my source was right about so many things, I don't see a reason to disbelieve it.
Misha and RSJ have talked about how it was a surprise that the show even went there. Misha said that he didn't think that they would ever even confirm Castiel's side. They've talked about how people had to be sold on it, including Jensen. At a recent convention, Misha talked about how he knows that some fans were disappointed that there wasn't more, but from his perspective, it was a miracle that they got what they got.
I also heard from those same early sources that Jensen had the freedom to go as far with the scene as he wanted to. If Jensen had wanted to say "me too", then he could have said it. He never said it. I was extremely curious to see that scene, after reading that script, because I knew Jensen had the freedom to do with it as he wanted.
#Might be a hot take but I think people project how much they hated deans death onto Jensen#Because he got to have a big death speech that hit all the same notes as cas’s#Which I think was intentional#bc of the script reading “if Cas was here…” “he’s not” and how that reminds us of cas’s last words#And Jensen really got to sell that

An interesting old livejournal translation of the sigils Castiel carved in Dean’s ribs. Which are different from the interpretations I’ve seen shared on tumblr before!

Is it too insane to speculate on this being some absurdly specific meta commentary, or is that one person that published a fanfic inspired by Jensen saying “Don’t ruin it for everyone else.” to a bi!dean truther during a panel still on the the show?

I love how his attempts to be ~cool~ B) are impressions of Dean, because that means whenever he’s seen Dean do something macho like this, it has actually looked cool to him. Despite the fact that Cas can normally blow a door off it’s hinges without even needing to touch it x)
he don't got this

I didn’t say that Misha said that, I said that Misha and Jensen talked to one another about how they were going to answer questions about intent and meaning, and they seemed to agree to answer it like Jensen has been (essentially) and my link was to an interview where Jensen stated that:

Misha’s position definitely changed but only since the episode aired, because he ended up addressing it several times on top of being asked by the producers to defend Cas’s ending (by his own omission)
this lines up 1 to 1 with the interview with Misha I link immediately afterwards, because that was his opinion when it first aired.
Hi! I would appreciate it if you guys reblogged this because this conspiracy theory comes up every few months and a lot of misinformed and debunked rumors are spread about things that Misha, Jensen, the writers, the producers, and the network have done, in the excitement of cooking up what starts to become a destiel ARG lol
@sailorsally @sunglassesmish @blanketforcas
Misha was going to be in the finale, but only as Jimmy.
2. Misha and Jensen did discuss what they were going to say regarding the confession, and they seemingly agreed to say that it was up for interpretation. Misha said that he didn’t think Dean reciprocated, but immediately hedged and regretted saying that.
3. In the script, it says Dean can’t reciprocate. This is a production draft dated 2/24/20

4. The Latam dub Director and Dean’s voice actor said that they added the “and I, you” line. It was not a rouge translator.
#No hate ofc#I think Misha and Jensen still can’t agree on this and it might have contributed to Cas not returning to SPN just yet#But that’s conjecture
