hiya, i'm jiji. moon is a character that i'm excited to write and i think he will fit well here! i wanted to preface this with a little warning that i do graze over some sensitive topics so please check the tags! i tried to give moon some dimension but hopefully, i didn't do too much. this was so stressful so i'm glad it's over, bffls.

minki was born in the city of montreal to their single mother, minju myeong, and lived with her briefly. their mother struggled with addiction off and on throughout their life so their grandparents (eunji + minseok) took over custody when they were just a baby. since they were born in canada to an immigrant family, they have been learning english and french and korean since birth, basically.

minki grew up modestly, their grandparents being first-generation immigrants who owned a convenience store downtown; his grandmother ran the front counter while his grandfather filed things away on an old 00's windows desktop in the back office. they remember playing games on their nintendo in the stockrooms in attempts to pass the time faster when they were a child.

if you asked minki what the word home reminds them of, they'd say the smell of baked sweets and the comfort of being tucked in at night. their grandparents protected them well in the early years, distracting them from the inconsistency of their mother by spoiling them with affection and quality time.

school also distracted him, moon was naturally intelligent and enjoyed learning; often getting lost in the pages of his textbooks. his imagination seems to be one of his best traits, to this day, as he's always been able to escape into the universe that many media create. such as songs, movies and novels. his grandparents were definitely the ones to have a 'guardian of a gifted child' bumper sticker on their old 90's minivan.

if you asked baby minki what they wanted to be when they grew up, they would answer and say that they wanted to be a professional dancer. this love for dancing came from their grandmother as she started training them young in traditional korean dance and the piano. unfortunately, halfway through junior high, minki was in an intense car wreck that caused a spinal injury; leaving them with weakness in their legs.

the next few years? were hard for minki. the gravity of their mother's substance use disorder finally sunk in and they lost their biggest outlet - dance - to their sudden disability.

since we're in the sadder and darker bit, i want to add that they struggle with depression, anxiety and gender dysphoria. this started early on but they still struggle with this and are currently undergoing treatment to help symptoms.

his grandparents fought and pieced him back together. he owes his life to them tbh. anyways, minki began spending more time at home after his injury and grew even closer to them; taking up their hobbies of baking and photography. minseok (harabeoji) and him spent a lot of time in his office, sorting through photo albums full of familial and nature shots his grandfather had taken over the years; opening his eyes to the wonder and beauty that photography possessed. this is probably around his early high school years.

minki is nonbinary, they usually go by masculine pronouns and the neopronouns they/them.

moon went to college on a scholarship and majored in photography, minoring in graphic design. if i did the math right then it's been like a year since they graduated. i'm thinking they were hired soon after the merge so they aren't really phased by it; no beef here.

socially, i see minki as being friendly but not overly so or too energetic unless they are comfortable with the person. they can be reserved to an extent around strangers and acquaintances. moon's personality is definitely funny, obsessive, curious, anxious, considerate, picky, imaginative, stubborn, free-spirited, forgetful, empathetic, fawning, sarcastic and affectionate.
