(( rewatched some guardians today and I forgot how genuinely good some of it was. imagine. guardians content that is actually good. imagine that ))

(( One thing to keep in mind with my Gamora vs others is that MAU Gamora is still very early in her recovery. MCU Gamora gets a boost of a five year time skip, and 616 Gamora has had god knows how many comics to grow and develop as a character.

Meanwhile, we know that S1 begins very shortly after the first movie's events, took roughly six months according to Rocket, and if we assume that S2 takes the same amount of time, that means Gamora has been with the Guardians/away from Thanos for only a year, vs 20 years with him. And then smack at the beginning of S3 she faces him again and gets most of that year of recovery shattered anyways.

So if she's a little more rough around the edges, more fragile and volatile, it's because a lot of her pain is still very fresh to her. She hasn't had the chance her other universe counterparts have had to settle in; sure, in a year's time, she's found a new home and family, but she's nowhere near healed yet, and it shows. ))

(( so I normally say the guardians show is good for anyone who's a fan of a guardian other than quill, since the movies are pretty centered on him and the show spreads the focus around, but you know what? if you're a fan of quill you should watch it anyways to see

quill being a great Space Dad to adam and sam

quill adoring his younger sister the second he meets her

quill finding out he's actually a prince (bc they go closer to comics canon in this) and trying to be a diplomat and failing spectacularly

quill and gamora having an actual good friendship based on mutual trust and respect, and them actually showing that

for that matter, showing all of the guardians' relationships with quill

various other good moments in this show, like when it's got such a longer runtime there are a lot of good moments sprinkled throughout if you can sit through the occasional childish joke

people say his animated voice is grating but I don't have an issue with it? but it's something to keep in mind. it does get better as the series goes on

also be aware if you make an animated!Quill blog, or even a verse, the rest of the guardians team is already available in animated form and ready to follow their captain (and also I will love you forever if you do) ))

(( Something people seem to forget for whatever reason is that Gamora is a cyborg just like her siblings. Not just fans, the writers seem to forget this too when it's convenient. I’m guessing it’s because she doesn’t have obvious cyborg parts sticking out of her head that we can see at all times? (Though, considering she’s the only one of her siblings that isn’t bald, she very well may have metal skull bits hidden under her hair.)

Anyways, here are the things that being a cyborg means for her:

Electric attacks are extra effective on her, as her cybernetic skeleton essentially makes her a lightningrod.

Similarly, an EMP will mess with her; though she won’t be outright knocked out by it, it’ll throw her for a loop, and until her system restarts she’s extra vulnerable.

She’s a little heavier than people expect her to be, and her hits have an unexpected weight behind them.

She can, in fact, do that freaky reassembly thing that Nebula does, though her skeleton is sturdier than Nebula’s and less prone to needing reassembly in the first place.

If she were to put her hair up, or wear a backless top, you could see metal bits from her neck down her back, much like Rocket. That’s the only place where it’s really visible on her. ))

(( Gamora only apologizes when she truly feels bad about what she did. She carries so much remorse over the atrocities she's committed, she pretty much has no room for any more, and so for a lot of her modern rotten behavior she's pretty unrepentant; ex. if she yelled at you, you shouldn't have made her mad, etc. "Gamora, say you're sorry" is usually met with a flat "No" because if she actually was sorry she would have said it on her own. There's only so many apologies she can give, and she's saving them. ))

(( Gamora has a hard time with the whole "Thanos is/isn't my father" thing.

In an ideal universe, she'd be able to easily dismiss him as not her true father. On her better days, she does. She tells herself "Thanos was my abductor, but he did not create me, I create myself, and he has no hold on me". He is an Other, no more than another enemy (albeit one with a very personal history).

But on her worse days, she feels his training in everything she does, looks in the mirror and sees his weapon. She starts to believe that everything she is, it's what Thanos made her; escaping him was a fluke in his training, and she is still exactly as he created her. On those days, she is her father's daughter whether she likes it or not, a dangerous woman who's nothing but sharp edges and violent tendencies. After all, he's the only father she can remember, and to deny that would only be deluding herself.

Her actual blood family factors into this weirdly; after all, for years she didn't remember she even had a blood family, and even after that she couldn't remember what they were like. Now that she can remember her blood parents, however, she wants to think of them as her true parents (though it's hard to when she only has one memory of them, versus years and years of Thanos' abuse). ))
