Hey! Did you see that PLL will have a reboot by the producers of Riverdale?? What do you think of It?
I did see that! I think it’ll be a complete disaster for 2 reasons: I don’t like Riverdale and also there is absolutely no need to bring back PLL so soon after it ended. If a spinoff with two fan favourite original characters “flopped”, then there’s clearly no demand for a reboot with new characters. It all just feels like a cheap and low-effort attempt to revive teen mystery shows in 2020. Marlene has been liking a bunch of fan tweets about how disrespectful and stupid this reboot is and I 100% agree with her. They need to let the legacy live on a bit and give people a chance to really miss the show, not to mention give the original cast time to do a reunion of sorts before moving onto a new cast. As soon as a new cast comes in, we can kiss goodbye our chances of a reunion with the original cast because they will not want two different PLL shows (or a movie, whatever the reunion will look like) on the air at once. Contractually, it won’t be allowed. So it is selfish by the Riverdale producers to take what Sara and Marlene created, potentially ruin it, and also take away their chances at a reunion. Would I watch it? Naturally I’m inclined to check out the first episode. But expectations are low and I’m going into it expecting to hate it because it has no reason to exist and it’s produced by people who haven’t impressed me in the past (Riverdale).

The problem isn’t that Emison broke up.... the problem is that Emily has NEVER had a steady romantic relationship. Out of all the liars she’s the one that dated the most characters meaning that Marlene never invested any time in developing a steady relationship for her
Let me direct you here.
I’m just finding it annoying that people are so conveniently forgetting the other girls’ relationships. Remember Aria and the karate instructor? The one night stand in 4B? Heck, Wes, Ezra’s brother? I think you’re complaining about something that doesn’t exist and with all due respect, it’s getting very tiring.
Also, I don’t think it’s necessarily a true reflection of real life if Emily just comes out as gay, falls in loves with Maya the next day, and has a happy and healthy relationship with her for 7 more seasons. I’m not a part of the LGBT community so I can’t speak from experience, only from predictions… and I predict that it sure as hell ain’t that easy.

Emily never truly trusted Ali.
Can we just talk about this for a second? Because probably the biggest complaint that I’m seeing from Emison fans about the divorce is that it’s not true to Emily’s character, that she loved and trusted Ali more than anything, and that it makes no sense that she suddenly can’t be with her anymore.
But if you look back at PLL, it’s actually made pretty freaking clear that Emily never honestly and fully trusted Ali.
Just look at the dream that Emily had in the penultimate episode.
Tumblr media
Vivian Darkbloom, Holly Varjak, Emma Thorwald…all of Ali’s old aliases and secret identities. Even though Emily was in a relationship with Ali at this point and claimed to love and trust her, this dream indicated that subconsciously, she was unable to totally let go of the version of Ali that snuck around, kept secrets, and told lies before anything else.
Even in the finale, after Emison had been together for over a year, we see pretty strong indications that Emily isn’t trusting. Just the sight of Alison having a private, whispered conversation with Pam, of all people, is enough to send her into a tailspin of paranoia and suspicion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is completely abnormal behavior. She completely grilled Alison, was near hysterical, and absolutely refused to accept that Ali wasn’t up to something until she was presented with concrete proof. There is really no justification for this scene other than Emily not trusting Ali, even after a year.
And even Emily’s reaction to Ali’s (admittedly very inappropriate) line about Addison is telling. She seemed to take it pretty seriously for someone who supposedly trusts Ali 100%.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When looking at all of this, it makes no sense to say that Emily was completely head over heels and trusting when she and Alison ended PLL. They may have been happy together, and in love to an extent, but it’s clear that even back then Emily wasn’t completely confident that Ali had really changed. Maybe spending three years constantly second-guessing everything her partner was doing, and always wondering in the back of her mind if Ali really could be trusted, became more trouble than it was worth.

Guesses on who Mona’s chess partner is?
I’ve been thinking Taylor, but I don’t know that she’d risk coming so close to campus…

You make a good point. We might not have seen Courtney in Pretty Little Liars, but the writers clearly drew inspiration from the evil-twin arch when they introduced characters like Charlotte and Alex. The writers are most likely utilizing the Julie/Parker narrative from the books but applying it to a new character. Can't wait to read your theory!
Taylor Hotckiss is going to be the Parker/Julie character
We first see Taylor with long hair in the pilot when Nolan meets her at the cabin BEFORE Nolan’s death.
Tonight we met Taylor with short hair in the camper in the woods AFTER Nolan’s death.
I’m convinced this difference is vital to the show’s storyline, and did you notice how freaked out “Taylor” was when Alison called her name? If Nolan knew someone who could help like he told Taylor in the cabin and Ali later gets that text from Nolan during the Beacon Guard blackout, then we could assume Nolan was talking about Ali to Taylor and wouldn’t she know what Alison looks like?? This seals the deal that Taylor is going be the one pulling off the Julie/Parker twist. I can guarantee it.

I was thinking the same thing! To add to this, Claire mentioned that once Taylor started to teach, she experienced a dramatic shift in behavior and became very paranoid. Maybe Taylor witnessed something traumatic (perhaps involving the actions of Beacon Guard) that compelled her to fake her own death. She could have been trying to avenge someone or go after her own family. And while this part might sound crazy, if the writers are pulling a Julie/Parker storyline, it's possible that "Taylor" was the one that killed Nolan...

Seriously?! This is absolutely disgusting. All of this anger and toxicity over a fictional relationship..? It's honestly appalling that people could act so cruel and entitled. Just based off of these reactions, I'm genuinely terrified for Sasha, Marlene, and the rest of the cast.
Someone legitimately posted Sasha’s address on Twitter tonight, along with the suggestion of throwing bricks through her windows. I could not be more appalled. Can you imagine if these people put one tenth of the amount of energy into actual, real world problems as they do a fictional couple on a teen TV show?

I love Alison so much. Especially this Ali, it’s a mixture of sneaky, mysterious, sassy, and bitchy Alison. It’s wonderful!

I don’t *completely* know what’s going on because I haven’t seen 1x04 yet, but I hear Emison is getting divorced. I don’t what to be a complete asshole because I know there are some great people who ship Emison and aren’t insane about it, but I don’t love the “shippers deserve better” mentality. Writers don’t owe us anything besides a good story. They don’t owe us any ships being canon or endgame. It was shitty of Marlene and co to lie about them being together, but they’re not in the wrong for breaking them up. And a fair amount of Emison shippers have been terrible to Marlene, Lindsey Shaw, and others, including fans who don’t ship them. It’s okay to be upset about your ship breaking up (most of us have been there), and misleading fans was definitely wrong, but I just think it’s important to remember that Emison being together isn’t owed to anyone. I really hope this fandom can move on and talk about what’s actually happening in The Perfectionists instead of a ship that was never going to be featured on this show in the first place. It’s getting really old for those of us who never shipped Ali and Emily.

Dang, Freeform really is a sinking ship at this point. Their most successful show of last year, “Cloak and Dagger,” premiered its second season last night, and the average viewership for the two hour long premiere was 0.438. Y i k e s.
I’ve been thinking a lot about what on earth happened to this network over the past few years, and honestly I feel like a huge problem is that it has absolutely no clear direction or audience. I don’t think it’s a coincidence at all that their ratings started going down the tubes around the same time that they left ABC Family behind and rebranded as Freeform.
All of their original shows are targeted mostly toward older teenagers and young adults. Their social media is really centered on activism, politics, and social justice, which is awesome, but again really caters to the millennial and older Gen Z audience (if you don’t believe me, just check out the comments on any of their Facebook posts about transgender awareness or gender equality, primarily from older age groups. They’re gross.). But then if you take a look at Freeform’s line up during the day, especially on weekends, so much of what they air is Disney movies and other content aimed toward children. Case in point: I just checked, and there’s an “Ice Age” marathon on all day. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against a good kids movie - “Toy Story” is currently playing on my TV right now - but considering all of Freeform’s original content is geared toward an older, young adult audience, it seems jarring that the majority of the movies they seem to play have a much younger target audience.
It’s like the network is caught somewhere between desperately wanting to reach an older, trendier, more socially aware audience, and not being able to totally shake that family-oriented ABC Family programming. And I think that might be what’s hurting them more than anything.

In the latest episode, we learn that Ali regularly disables the Beacon Guard surveillance box in, at the very least, her living room. Was she the one who caused the Beacon Guard blackout at her house the night of Nolan’s murder?
