One of my favorite details of dee’s character is her fear of old ppl bc it’s actually rlly tragic like the rest of her character. She’s scared of growing old bc it means the end of the line for her, for her it means she has no chance at being an actress anymore, no chance of getting married and finding love, and being exactly how Barbara described her: ugly. Dee’s self confidence and self esteem depend so much on being desirable to others, we see this in Frank’s Little Beauties when Frank talks about how much effort she put into her beauty pageants and won them all and dee is quite literally, the happiest we’ve seen her in the entire show. Dee’s need for validation by being desirable is also obvious in The Gang Group Dates when she’s thrilled when men are lining up for her. This also explains Dee’s sudden thing for Charlie, bc he was the easiest, or only nearby available dating option for her, she was DESPERATE to find love having realized her age. Dee is honestly one of the best tragic characters I’ve seen in a looong time, especially bc her tragedy is one of misogyny and the difficulties all women face (defining themselves w their desirablity and denying themselves in the process) Dee makes me so sad and I love her

tbh. if you think any one member of the gang is objectively the "most evil", then the point of the show has gone waaay over your head. they're all equally bad and it comes out in different ways - you might be uncomfortable with some characters bc of your personal experiences with their actions (charlie's obsession w the waitress makes me very uncomfortable in the way dennis' predatory behaviour make others uncomfortable), but to say that dennis is the most terrible member of the gang when dee is also a rapist, mac is a violent misogynist, frank ran a sweatshop, and charlie stalked a woman to the extent that she became an alcoholic and drug addict in order to cope...... doesn't make sense

i’m still not over mac’s response to discovering that dennis has an eating disorder and hasn’t eaten all day being to physically haul dennis over his shoulder while saying “let’s go get you some food” and then subsequently supervising dennis as he eats a chimichanga

I’m obsessed with the idea that paddys never really shook its reputation as a gay bar..... like there were lesbians in the bg in tends bar, Carmen was a regular there, and the glory hole was in the men’s room before they were gender neutral so clearly the lgbt presence is there and if you compare their level of popularity as a gay vs regular bar I don’t think they’d be able to fully get rid of their image as a gay bar no matter how underground..... plus you walk in and see the bartender and the bouncer making heart eyes at each other and assume this is where the gays are

mac and dennis have been lying to get couple’s discounts for years so when they’re actually dating mac still acts like it’s a scheme and winks and talks like “i’m here with my boyfriend we are a couple isn’t that right honey ;)” and dennis is ?????? yeah???
