Stewpot Impressions
What is Stewpot?
Stewpot: Tales from a Fantasy Tavern by Takuma Okada is a story/party game based on Firebrands / The King is Dead. In most games you play adventurers this one you play people who were adventures. Here they are all adventured out and ready to settle down into community.
Some beautiful things about Stewpot
I can have a hard time conceptualizing character development, this game helps guide you through it in a very chill way. Your characters start with their adventuring skills and grow into and with the city.
Experience in Play
I played a session with Marion, Travis and Patty who played Church, Greg and Linda. Our game was kind of post apocalyptic solarpunk, our tavern was on a flying fantasy city. The “Aft End Tavern” My character was previously a hunter and learned to hunt flying things around the city like wyverns bringing in meat and milk for the city.

Animal well seems like a really fun game. I really like the integration of PS5’s controller haptic feedback. The platforming was too frustrating for me to get far so unfortunately this is another DNF.

I got a Playstation 5 late last year and essentially burnt myself out on (Square Enix) RPGs. This week I played through Wytchwood and it felt like a breath of fresh air. Highly recommended for folks who need a breather between giant AAA games. #indiegames

Last night I got to try Fish in the Percolator, a map making #storygame by Greg Hellings. It’s still in development but I really liked how starting with a transit system made the map feel more continuous and less like a point crawl. #ttrpgs
