TW: death, residential schools
104 potential graves have been found at the Brandon Indian Residential School in Manitoba.
“…The families and communities whose children were lost while attending these schools have questions that deserve answers. The children buried at these sites must have their identities restored, and their stories told. They will never be forgotten, every child matters,” said Sioux Valley Chief Jennifer Bone in a video statement.
“While employing archeological survey techniques, geophysical technologies, survival recounts and archival documents, our investigation has identified 104 potential graves in all three cemeteries, and that only 78 are accountable through cemetery and burial records,” she said.

this may be an Unpopular Opinion (even on tumblr) but like the 8-hour workday is just Too Gotdamn Long
like even sitting in an office for eight hours a day isn’t particularly pleasant (or healthy, as we are beginning to see) but when we’re talking about doing *actual work* for that same amount time it gets pretty fucking brutal
doing literally *anything* (even leisure activities) for eight hours straight tends to be less than enjoyable but when we’re talking about things like construction, landscaping, factory work, and hell, even foodservice and retail, eight hours is a fucking ETERNITY
i might just be a lazy weak-willed bitch but honestly i think i’m not entirely wrong

I’m just gonna say it…
Professors should not be allowed to ban laptops in class. Professors should not be allowed to ban recorders in class. Professors should not be able to ban students from taking pictures of the whiteboard at the end of lectures. Professors should not be allowed to ban ANYTHING that will make the class more accessible for ALL students. I don’t care what the excuse is.
“They might not even be taking notes on their laptop, they’re probably playing games!” So that’s on the student and they’ll have to live with those grades. They’re paying thousands of dollars to be there, if they want to fuck off and waste their money that’s on them.
“I’m uncomfortable with my lectures being recorded!” What EXACTLY are you saying in your lectures that makes you worried about being recorded, hmm?
“I just don’t like the idea of being on camera/recorded at work. How would YOU feel being recorded at work?” Buddy, I work in retail. I’m always being watched. Suck it the fuck up.
And before anyone says “but you can just bypass this by getting permission from accessibility services!” 1. Not all students with disabilities have up-to-date diagnosis to qualify, 2. Not all students with disabilities have had it confirmed by a professional yet and won’t be able to access those services, 3. Not all students who need these accommodations even have a disability! Some people just learn differently and lecture-style learning actually doesn’t work for a lot of people! and 4. This often puts a student on the spot to all their classmates and can make them feel very uncomfortable.
Students should not have to jump through hoops to get an education that they’re paying for. That’s not accessibility.

I have minimal memories of Powerpuff Girls and maybe three hours of consideration under my belt, let's see if I can put together a better PPG reboot than CW's atrocity.
It's twenty years later and the girls are all struggling to make their own ways in the world. It turns out a childhood of heroics and living with an eccentric inventor means they missed out on some important parts of being human. When the Professor is attacked, and most of his research stolen, the girls come back together to recover the research, shut down the abominations of science twisted from his work, and hopefully finish learning to be humans as well as heroes.
Blossom is partway through a masters' degree in political science. She was the sister who really understood the complexities of crime statistics, government corruption, and income inequality, and decided to go into a career in politics to fix things. When she's not at class she's organizing protests, speaking with politicians, or trying to dismantle the lobbyist industry. She hasn't had a free day in three years, but she insists she's fine, she's superhuman and can handle it. She's lying to herself more than her family.
Bubbles went into animal conservation. Her ability to talk with animals makes her perfect for it, and really, she always loved protecting animals. She's also heavily involved in activism, especially climate activism, and can be found at the front of every protest within flying distance, standing between protestors and the cops like a guardian angel. She's very well known because of it, and is using her fame to spread awareness however she can. She hides it well, but the constant trauma of facing the world's evils is slowly crushing her spirit.
Buttercup is a full-time superhero with the Society of Associated Puffketeers, formerly the Association of World Super Men, and the only one still actively doing hero work. She doesn't work with other heroes often, preferring to chase down more mundane criminals instead of making headlines fighting the latest supervillain. She's beat up a lot of domestic abusers, human traffickers, and the like. She enjoys it, enjoys the rush of a fight she knows is vindicated, but deep down she's afraid that she's not worth anything outside of her capacity for violence. She also doesn't know who she is outside of the ass-kicking superhero life.
