Last night I was dreaming that everyone kept making memes about the southern reach trilogy but they were so nonsensical but it was making Jeff Vandermeer so mad for some reason he just kept responding getting more and more upset

I really cannot capture how NONSENSICAL these were (as they were a huge screen constantly changing in front of my face) but I tried to make an example

One of the main things people kept saying was basically “does Bruno mars is gay” but they kept going “control is do brainwash???” And variations of that which was making him REALLY mad specifically

To be clear by the way his username was exactly that in my dream

thinking about jenny from thebes, who deserved better than she got but was never going to get it because to get it she would have needed to be a solid presence in anybody's life for long enough and she was never in the business of doing that. thinking about her sending postcards to the source decay narrator for years on end until one day the postcards abruptly stop and it taking a long time for that person to come to terms with her not writing again. thinking about how she instructs whoever hears going to dallas to "turn around and let me go free", because that's all anyone can do for her. thinking about how she did long before we did. thinking about how she said "come stay with me as long as you like" in midland and she phrased it as having room for other people who needed it but really it was her that needed the people. thinking about how she killed to protect her home and lost it forever in the process. thinking about how people all around the country think they hear from her sometimes from portland to texas to montana to wherever else but never a fixed point. thinking about how great pirates is a lie, a dream from down the road, because she never got that ending.

if youre not in school anymore and are looking for ways to get out of the house more go to the nearest "hip" coffee shop you can that has a bulletin board with flyers on it for local events and attend any and all the ones youre able to ESPECIALLY if they're free. this is the only actionable advice that has worked for me
