Can you keep a secret?

Jess Mariano x fem!reader!
Summary: The whole cafe ends up in silence when they realice Jess Mariano actually has feelings.
Warnings: a couple of curses. Just pure fluff.
Masterlist!
“New client.”
Lorelai Gilmore said, slightly surprised, looking in the direction of the girl who had just entered Luke’s café. It was clear she wasn’t from around there. Not just because they had never seen her before in this place, but also because her presence stood out in a different way. Her clothes were a little more expensive compared to what they were used to seeing, her hands were filled with gold rings, and the heels of her boots made a sound the moment she stepped inside. Rory even noticed she had a couple of strands  in her hair that were a different color from her natural shade, which matched the leather jacket she was wearing. It looked a little too big for her, suggesting that it probably wasn’t hers, maybe her boyfriend.
In short, she looked good.
Maybe too good for what they were used to.
“Excuse me…” but her attitude was much friendlier than they expected. “I’m looking for…”
“It can’t be.”
Her sentence was interrupted by another voice, this time a male one, making her forget about the mother and daughter pair and focus on him. She turned her body to face the guy she had been looking for since arriving in this little town twenty minutes ago. The same guy who made her drop the bag hanging from her shoulder, before taking a couple of steps forward and throwing herself into Jess Mariano’s arms.
Neither of them noticed at first, but their actions made the whole place fall into silence. Her daring act of doing something like that, and his, because he ended up returning the embrace without a problem. As if he knew the touch of the girl he pulled against his chest, listening to her laugh with ease.
“What did I miss?”
The Gilmore girls didn’t know how to respond to Luke’s question, simply watching the pair as if they couldn’t believe it. Never, in their whole lives, did they think they’d see Jess Mariano this carefree. Hugging someone he seemed to know really well, smiling as if he truly meant it, and allowing someone to touch him beyond just a shoulder. Or even worse, seeing him gently cupping the girl’s cheeks before kissing her lips as if he didn’t care that they were in the middle of the café.
They would be the talk of Stars Hollow for days.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Jess said when they pulled away, still keeping his forehead against hers. “How? When? Why? What?”
“Wanna finish any of your questions, babe?” she said playfully.
“Yeah, well… you surprise me.”
That was the first time they’d ever seen Jess so… flustered.
“I just thought it was time to visit my boyfriend,” she laughed softly, leaning against his chest. “I missed you so much, and I thought, why not?”
“The best decision you ever made.”
Right after agreeing to be his girlfriend.

🍂┆All That Can Be Seen .ᐟ
(Part 3) of “Call You Again”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[First part] - [next part]
Summary: When Spencer and Y/n get involved in a project together, they form a connection through conversations at midnight.
Word count: 2.0k
Warnings: Swearing
Tumblr media
“Hello, everyone, welcome back to-” Arasha started the intro, but was interrupted by someone behind the cameras
“Hold! Sorry, it’ll be quick” A few crew members stepped into the games set to fix something with the lights
You were looking down, adjusting your clothes, when you spotted your drink right next to your feet. You looked up at Spencer. Who was sitting down at the Board AF table, chess board in front of him.
Spencer flashed you a grin and nodded in secret.
You took a step to the side and “accidentally” dropped your drink, causing it to tumble down and create a spill on the wooden floor .
“Shit, I’m so sorry” You covered your mouth with your hands, in (fake) shock, despise felling actually a little guilty
Spencer got up in a second, faking a passive aggressive tone “This is why we have a no drinks on set rule”
Immediately after he said that, he felt a tightness in his chest. Being so direct was unusual for him, specially like this - specially to you - “That was a joke, sorry” He added, offering you a shy smile
You smiled back. You noticed his expression immediately after he said it, and you couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for him. “It’s okay, it’s my fault”
“Don’t worry, it happens” He finished cleaning the floor and started walking over to his seat
You noticed Angela’s expression. She went into full acting mode and was looking at you two as if you were her parents arguing.
She looked over at Arasha and you made eye contact with Spencer once again. He secretly shot you a wink before turning to the chess board. You felt your whole face heat up and crossed your arms, refocusing your mind on something else. Oh wow the ceiling looks great today!
You self pitied the part of you that felt flustered by Spencer’s presence. Gosh, why, why, why?????
Angela interrupted your embarrassing thoughts “You good?” She asked
“Yeah,” You affirmed “Just a bit cold”
“We can turn off the A.C-” Angela started but Spencer was quick to interrupt her - with a certain urgency, you noted
“You can take my jacket, it’s on that chair” He pointed to a chair a few feet away from you, with his denim jacked placed on top of it
You looked at his face, trying to decipher if this was a complete honest moment or if it was a part of the plan you missed. He looked at you with kind eyes. You settled on the second option, for the sake of your own heart.
You walked over to the chair and picked up the jacket, putting it on. You hated to admit it, but it was extremely comfortable. You could faintly make out the smell of kickstart and Spencer’s cologne in the fabric.
Tumblr media
You were in the writing pods with Erin, when Angela came bursting in, dragging a disheveled-looking Spencer along with her.
“SHE BOUGHT IT!!” She whispered yelled
“Did you really have to drag me here? What happened to ‘Hello, Spencer, my great coworker, how are you? Please follow me this way’” You laughed at his annoyed monologue
“Spencer, don’t fucking do this. ANYWAYS, IT WORKED!” Angela was full on shouting by this point
“Angela, be quiet” Erin laughed out
“It’s lunch time, it doesn’t matter,” She shrugged it off “anyways, I was telling Amanda and Chanse about you two hating each other’s guts”
You and Spencer shared a look but she continued “And Arasha was there, and she was like defending you, I personally think she got kind of annoyed, like I know it was playful but-”
“Angela” Erin interrupted “Did it work, or not?”
“HELL YES” She jumped in celebration and you smiled at your energetic friend “This bit city episode is about to be the best, I can SEE the views. 1 million…. 2 million… 3 BILLION” She gestured dramatically
“That’s a bit far fetched but okay” Spencer added and you burst out laughing
“Spencer calm down, just because it’s not your baby, Smosh Games, doesn’t mean its not important” She added, acting sassy
You were all laughing when you asked “What else are you guys doing?”
“Like two more ridiculous rumors, then we’re done” Erin answered “Not about you guys, though”
“Good, no more spills” Spencer joked
“Also, guys, why didn’t you tell us you were also doing the jacket thing? That was like, the cherry on top” Angela asked
You looked expectantly at Spencer, who appeared to be uncomfortable, as if he already felt guilty for something he hasn’t said yet.
“I- um yeah, I just saw the opportunity and took it” He didn’t look at you
Your heart dropped for a few seconds. You had already came to that same conclusion, but this tiny little part of you, a void in your brain that would whisper it’s thoughts, grieved the other possibility.
“Great call” You smiled at him and he could see right through your fake expression. None of you said anything after, just watching Angela dramatically act out the conversation she just had.
When Spencer had to go shoot a video, he hesitated to leave. He cleared his throat and awkwardly turned around to meet you
“I, um- great job”
Really Spencer, ‘great job?’ Really? He thought to himself, swearing he would never talk to any woman ever again after this interaction.
But all his doubts went away when you beamed at him “Thanks Spencer, you also did a great job”
Nope, forget about it, he wasn’t a loser, after all.
Tumblr media
You really tried to not expect it. You brushed your teeth, turned off your lights and laid down in your bed. But something kept you up. You really really didn’t want to be this frustrated, but you were. You knew it was completely illogical, but you felt it anyway. You pondered getting up to get your phone, but it was a crazy idea, right? Yes, totally ridiculous, you would just turn around, shut your eyes and magically go to sleep.
Little did you know, Spencer was suffering from the exact same problem. Lying in bed, he would try to focus on the game in front of him, but after a few moments, he would find his finger hovering over the ‘call’ button.
You know what? Fuck it.
The speed in which you got up, picked up your phone and answered Spencer’s call was just plainly insane, you deemed it.
“Hi” You said, a little breathless
“Hey, that’s was quick” You felt your cheeks heating up, thank god he couldn’t see you in this moment
“I- uh- Why did you call?” You scrunched your nose in embarrassment. Y/n, why were you like this?
“Um- Good question. Can I say ‘out of habit’ and you pretend to believe it?” You could make out a tint of nervousness in his voice, which you thought was adorable
“Sounds great” You agreed, eager to forget your embarrassment as soon as possible. You noticed the lack of clicking sounds from the other line “No controller today?”
“No, I was actually playing on my phone”
“What game?” You fell into your normal conversation
“Balatro” He answered
“I see Shayne has already convinced you to buy it” You joked
“I honestly think he might be trying to get everyone in the office on it” You laughed
You and Spencer managed to talk about everything and anything at all. You explained to him your childhood, your hobbies and funny stories about your Smosh audition and he got into the details of surviving on a few hours of sleep, becoming a director and his favorite genres of games. Today felt a little different from the other days, as if the playful dynamic you would always fall into was long gone, only remaining the true curiosity you had for each other. Every time he shared something you felt like you understood him more, like it was a puzzle piece that fit perfectly into the picture of Spencer in your head.
“Okay, but seriously, did you not play any video games when you were a child?” His voice got lower with the hours, you could feel the tiredness in it
“I mean, I played arcade games, like a lot” You shared “My dad owned the local arcade so I would wait there after school, until it was closing time”
“You do realize that’s like every child’s dream, right?” You shared a lazy laugh, your stomach hurting by this point into the call “What arcade games did you play?”
You thought back on those childhood memories you cherished so much “My dad had this vintage Donkey Kong machine, that one was my favorite”
“I loved Donkey Kong” Spencer gasped “To be honest I loved going to the arcade in general, once I snuck out in the middle of the night to go to this 24/7 arcade close to my house”
“First of all: Insane lore drop. Second of all: Did you get caught?”
“Nope, I don’t think my parents ever found out, actually” You laughed at the image of mini Spencer in his pajamas, playing with a machine too big for him to barely even reach the controllers
Spencer sighed, he liked hearing your laugh “I don’t even know why I said that, I’ve never told that story to anyone else”
“Well, I’m honored” You felt the infamous butterflies in your stomach ”Your secret’s safe with me, by the way”
Spencer stared at his ceiling “It’s easy to tell you stuff” He whispered, the moment feeling too fragile. Like if he were to use his normal voice, it would break the spell
“What do you mean?” You whispered back
“Like, I don’t have to overthink it, I just say it and I know you’ll either laugh or be interested in it” His voice has a certain rawness to it. While you were still very sleepy, a part of your mind was wide awake, truly realizing what Spencer has just told you “Unless you’re just a really good actress”
“No, I’m interested” You were quick to clarify “I don’t know if it’s something about the whole video games nerd, or…” You slowed down
“Or what?” The hoarse voice in the other end of the call asked
“Or if it’s just you, but I want to understand everything about it. About you” You managed to punch out “I’m sorry of that sounds creepy or weird, or-”
“It doesn’t” he cut you off “You don’t even know, y/n, but it helps. A lot. You asked me questions about the most random stuff and I felt like I was finally being known… I think this helped me realize how alone I felt before”
He talked about this as if it was permanent, and it sparked your heart with the possibility. Over this last few days, you truly realized how much you loved and cherished his presence around you. You couldn’t help but feel at least a little hopeful.
“I really like your presence” You confessed “I never thought I’d say this but I think normal people need to normalize this more. It feels nice to just… talk to you”
“Thank you for admitting it” He lazily joked “Tell me more about that arcade” He whispered in the quiet of the night, like it was a secret just between you two
You talked about the memories you had with your dad and the games you would play. Spencer had a way of making you feel like you weren’t just saying words, but actually sharing a part of you with him.
“But yeah, I don’t remember much” You waited for his answer, but it never came “…Spencer?”
You glanced down at your phone. It was 00:42 and it showed you had been on call for almost three hours.
You realized he must’ve fallen asleep at some point in the conversation. If it was anyone else, you would’ve probably felt a little offended, but coming from the guy who claimed he couldn’t sleep before 2 a.m, you couldn’t help but feel a little special.
You knew it came from a place of being comfortable, not boredom, and that was enough to make your heart race.

Somethin' Stupid like 'I love you'
Spencer Agnew x F!Reader
Word count: 6.1k
Summary: Y/N is able to manage her crush on Spencer until they duet a love song on a karaoke livestream.
Inspired by Somethin Stupid by Frank and Nancy Sinatra!! I'm so obsessed with the harmonies, which is what inspired me to write this. If you haven't heard the song pleaseeeeee go listen to it! Also, this is the first thing I've written in a while and my first fic on tumblr, so go easy on me! Thanks, yall!
Tumblr media
You rubbed your temples as you sat at your desk, staring at the blinking cursor of a blank Word document. In your three years at Smosh as an editor, turned PA, turned cast member, you had learned a lot: how to make an enticing thumbnail, how to be comfortable on camera, how to be a good assistant, that you much preferred meetings and shooting to slow, lazy afternoons in front of your computer. One thing that you had yet to learn was how to get past the excruciating writer’s block you so often encountered towards the end of a long week. Your mind was as blank as your computer screen. This was not good.
It had been a good day. Nothing out of the ordinary, but good nonetheless. You came into the office early, partially to do some extra editing, and partially because your friend, coworker, and boss, Spencer, who happened to be your ride since your car was in the shop and he lived nearby, needed to get to work early to finish prepping for the day’s ‘Shayne Guesses’. It was mostly the latter. No one was surprised when you put off the editing you’d insisted you needed to do, instead electing to sit on the couch by Spencer’s desk, chatting with him and scrolling on TikTok aimlessly. You felt your face heat up as you scrolled onto an edit of Spencer himself, quickly saving the video and scrolling on. For later, you thought.
People began trickling into the previously empty office, greeting you and Spencer as they passed, pouring themselves coffee and finding their way to their desks. You glanced up from your screen, feeling a gentle hand on your shoulder, and saw Courtney walking past the back of the couch, Shayne next to her. They stuck their tongue out at you as they passed. “Hey, Cutie,” she mused, giving you a small wave, “You’re in early.”
You stuck your tongue out and waved back. “Yeah… I was meant to be editing, but…” You trailed off, holding up your phone, TikTok still lighting up your screen, “You can see how well that’s going.” You heard Spencer scoff without looking away from his computer screen. “Shut up, Spencer!” Courtney and Shayne both giggled as they walked away.
Within 15 minutes, everyone in the office had gathered in the common area for the morning meeting. You lounged over the back of Angela’s chair, smiling as you listened to Spencer give some announcements about the plan for the imminent ‘Shayne Guesses our Baby Photos’ video. The meeting immediately became vastly more boring when Spencer passed the baton to Ian and Anthony for their announcements. It wasn’t that you didn’t care, per se, it’s just that Ian and Anthony didn’t have the same adorable smile or slutty little glasses that Spencer did.
Everyone stood and split off as the meeting came to a close. You stood up straight from your position over Angela’s shoulder and stretched, cracking your sore back and neck. You jumped slightly, feeling a firm hand on your shoulder and quickly spinning on your heel, only to be met with those very glasses and that same smile. He offered you your clipboard with an outstretched arm, and you couldn’t fight the urge to trace his tattoos with your eyes, down the toned line of his bicep. You felt your stomach do a somersault, wishing you could trace the inked lines for real. “Hey, Y/N, you ready?” You took the clipboard and looked away quickly, hoping to hide the hot flush that you could feel creeping up your neck.
You followed him into the Smosh Games stage, where you found Shayne getting mic’d up and some of your fellow crew members setting up the cameras and sound equipment. Spencer donned his headset as he sat down in his chair, pulling out the chair next to him before gesturing for you to sit. You smiled and murmured a thank you, internally glowing at his gesture, no matter how small it may have been.
The video began, and Shayne began his guessing. It always shocked you how good he was at guessing things about his coworkers, although you supposed that these may have been easier to guess, given that they were childhood photographs and all. As the video continued, you and Spencer bantered back and forth in a low whisper, joking about how cute all your friends were as babies. You rubbed your eyes, willing the week’s exhaustion to disappear.
Throughout the whole video, you’d felt a pit of anticipation in your stomach, waiting for your baby photo to show up. Eventually, the time came: Shayne clicked the next button, and there you were. It was objectively a goofy photo. Little you, holding a rainbow snow cone with a stained mouth and sticky fingers, a silly smile on your tiny lips. You felt a jab in your ribs as Spencer giggled. Shayne broke out into a big, toothy grin. “Aww, this one’s a cutie,” He giggled. “I’ll be honest, this expression is giving Y/N. The snow cone, too, actually.” He glanced behind the camera at you, flushing, and Spencer, giggling, before looking back to the camera, his lips pressed into a thin line of a smirk. “Alright,” He said matter-of-factly, “You guys can’t see it, but Spencer just poked Y/N and giggled, so I know it’s her.” He clicked the next button again, and your name popped up on the screen, confirming his suspicions.
Spencer leaned over to you, tapping you on the knee as Shayne moved on with the video. “You were a cute kid,” He paused for a beat. “I guess some things never change.” You could feel your cheeks and the tips of your ears burning, and you knew you were bright pink. You could feel Spencer’s eyes on the side of your face as you tucked your hair behind your ear. He could undoubtedly see your flushed face. It certainly wasn’t dark enough in the studio to hide it anymore.
Shayne found you after the cameras quit rolling and the shoot wrapped, giving you a knowing smirk. “So, you two are cozy, huh?” he accused. He didn’t specify who you were cozy with. He didn’t need to. You felt a blush bloom across your face.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about!” you insisted in a strained, high pitched, flustered tone of voice, trying your best to think of a excuse to run, but having no luck.
Shayne put up his hands, as if surrendering, but his smirk didn’t waver. “Sure,” he drew out the word accusitorily, teasing you subtly, “Whatever you say, Y/N.” You turned on your heel and scurried away, hearing Shayne call after you. “He’d say yes, you know!” Shayne must’ve been confused, you told yourself. Would Spencer really say yes? You wished.
Unfortunately, that was your only shoot of the morning, and you’d have to spend the rest of the day in meetings, or worse, alone at your desk. Ugh. What a drag. You had a meeting to brainstorm for Smosh Games and a meeting with the art department to help plan the next episode of Bit City. You were much more excited for one of these meetings, and despite your love of Bit City, it was not the art department meeting. The art department didn’t have Spencer.
The Games meeting, however, did have Spencer. That wasn’t the only reason you liked it, of course. You loved talking about games, brainstorming stupid bits, and thinking of new and innovative video ideas. Even more so, though, you loved watching Spencer talking about games, brainstorming stupid bits, and thinking of new video ideas.
After the meetings and lunch, here you were, at your desk, staring blankly at your screen. You spun mindlessly in your chair a few times, surveying the office. Everyone who wasn’t in a shoot looked like they were being much more productive than you were. You sighed, trying your best to work, so as not to be the weak link of the office. It was no use. Despite having a relatively slow day, the week was taking its toll on you. You slumped, resting your chin in your hand as you continued to watch the cursor blink, as if taunting you for your inability to do your fucking job.
Suddenly, you heard a dull ‘thunk!’ next to you on your desk, and looked up to see Spencer there, having placed a mug on your desk. He looked at you with a soft, gentle smile playing on his lips. You cocked your head, confused, looking between Spencer and the cup in his hand a few times. Spencer rubbed the back of his neck with his free hand, smiling bigger now. “I uh…” He paused, considering his words. “You’ve seemed kinda tired today. I just thought this might help. Y’know, make sure you can get through the rest of your boring day of writing and emails and stuff.”
A toothy grin broke out across your face. “Aw, Spencer, you didn’t have to do that! Thank you, dude, I needed this. This is so sweet of you.” You took the cup from his hand, feeling sparks where your fingers brushed. You took a sip, the comforting warmth of the beverage quickly spreading through your body, already making you feel better. “Oh my God! Spencer, this is perfect! How did you know how I take my coffee?” You demanded jokingly, beaming up at the man and continuing to sip your drink.
He shrugged nonchalantly, giving your shoulder a light squeeze. “I know you, Y/N,” he said softly, almost a whisper. He turned and walked away, presumably to his own desk, but stopped in his tracks a few paces away from you. He turned, exclaiming, “See ya later, Y/N. Your carriage awaits!” He did a silly fake bow before continuing his path away from you.
You giggled, taking another sip of your coffee.
He knew you?
The rest of the day was significantly better. You were actually able to get some work done, for one thing. Then, you got to have a fun car ride with Spencer, and best of all, you got to go home, eat instant ramen, and watch a movie in your PJs with your cat, Roxie.
You must have fallen asleep on the couch while watching your movie, because the next thing you knew, your alarm was blaring, interrupting the relaxing peace you had managed to find in the heap of blankets on your couch. You heaved yourself up, stretched, and checked your phone. You had a few notifications: Some texts from the Smosh Girls group chat, some texts from Angela individually, and a Slack message from Bailey, demanding you send in your screenshots for the day’s episode of ‘Phone it in’. Shit. You scrambled to go into your Google searches, texts, and photos. You should’ve waited till you were more together, should’ve  known that your freshly awake self would pick rather incriminating screenshots. But you didn’t.
Your morning passed in a haze, and somehow, after being revived by a few cups of coffee, you found yourself in the block of chairs where cast and crew sat during Phone it in, Courtney on your left and Angela on your right. Sitting in front of the camera, preparing to compete in the video, were Spencer, Amanda, and Trevor. You couldn’t fully recall what pre-coffee you had submitted, which, frankly, scared you.
The video kicked off with Tommy explaining the premise and introducing the contestants. “Alright!” Tommy said with a broad gesture, “Let the guessing begin!” You watched as the three tried to guess your coworkers based on their phones, laughing, joking, and trying (and failing) to guess along. “Time for our next phone. Let’s see those Google searches!” Tommy pointed to the screen, chuckling. You blinked, reading the screen. You thought for a second, and then it clicked. This was you. “‘Best antique stores near me’, ‘Car warning lights’, And ‘can i buy Arizona in bulk’...” Tommy trailed off, turning to look at the camera, then the contestants. “Any thoughts on who this might be?” Spencer was already scribbling on his whiteboard, while Amanda and Trevor looked confused.
“Wait, wait, this person wants to buy the state of Arizona? I’m so confused,” Amanda  shook her head at her own confusion. Spencer choked on a laugh. Tommy and Trevor cackled.
Tommy gave her a pitying look. “No, Amanda,” he rubbed his temples in disbelief. “They want to buy AriZona Iced Tea. It’s okay, you’re doing great!” Amanda slumped over onto the table at his words. Tommy then turned his attention to Spencer. “So, you’re already locked in. Anything to say about that?” He looked at Spencer expectantly.
Spencer merely shrugged. “I mean, it was kind of a gut instinct thing. I know someone in this office who really likes AriZona, and I could imagine this person also enjoying antique shopping, and I know their car is in the shop right now.” His eyes found yours somewhere throughout his sentence, and he smirked, almost imperceptibly. The tips of your ears burned crimson as he continued to hold eye contact for a moment or two.
“Alright, alright, good stuff. Let’s see that text message!” Tommy exclaimed, pointing at the screen again as your texts were revealed. Tommy, as well as everyone else in the room, gasped. Oh. My. God. You could not believe what you had submitted. Your heart was pounding a million miles a minute. Through laughter, Tommy said, “For those of you who can’t read it, this person says, ‘oh my god, you don’t understand. i NEED him’ need in all caps, by the way,” Tommy added before continuing reading, “‘i need him in a way that is concerning to feminism,’ To which someone else says ‘good lord’” Tommy was cackling. You were trying to hide your face from the contestants without being too obvious, sure that your exponentially reddening face would give you away.”
Amanda gasped. “Oh, I know! I know!” She scribbled something down on her whiteboard. “I have had a very similar conversation with someone, and I can’t really think of anyone else that would say this, so…” She trailed off with a knowing smile. Trevor still looked lost.
Tommy pointed at the TV again, and the image was revealed. You laughed as you saw it, despite having submitted it yourself that very morning. It was a bright blue bra with Weezer on it. Wow, what had you been thinking?
The room broke out into laughter again. “Dude!” Trevor shouted, “What is this?? What am I supposed to do with this?!” He sighed dejectedly and wrote down a name. “I don’t know about this, but… I don’t know who else to put.”
“Trevor, let’s see what you put!” Tommy announced as Trevor turned his whiteboard around, showing Angela’s name. Tommy cocked his head. “Yeah, I’m not feeling good about that for you, Trevor,” he laughed.
Trevor shrugged. “I was really going off the Weezer bra. It seems like something that Angela would laugh at.” Angela shrugged next to you, as if agreeing. She had laughed at the Weezer bra, to be fair.
Tommy moved on to Amanda, asking her to turn her board around, revealing your name. You smiled sheepishly as she looked at you. Spencer was then instructed to turn his board, also revealing Y/N in his messy scrawl. “Let’s see, is it Y/N?” Tommy asked, pointing again at the screen. A cheer erupted as your name appeared on the screen. “Y/N?” Tommy teased, “Wanna tell us who those texts were about?” The camera panned around towards you, bright red and covering your face with your hands.
“Absolutely not!” You shouted.
Angela, the receiver of the text messages you had submitted, leaned over and whispered in your ear, “Oh my god, I cannot believe you submitted those texts. You’re just lucky you cropped out the one before that about Spencer bringing you coffee.”
—
Later that afternoon, you found yourself back at your desk, head in your hand, only somewhat more productive than the day before. You heard what vaguely sounded like the wheels on a desk chair, swiftly approaching, but you didn’t tear your eyes away from your screen until you glimpsed a can being placed on your desk out of the corner of your eye. When you turned, you saw Spencer, a can of AriZona in one hand, in the midst of being placed on your desk, and a can of Mountain Dew Kickstart in the other, presumably for him. He tilted his head and smiled playfully, nudging the AriZona towards you, but saying nothing. You smile back, grabbing the can and cracking it open with a satisfying ‘hiss’. He did the same with his own beverage. “Is this gonna be our new thing?” You joked, “You bringing me drinks to get me to work?”
Spencer laughed. The sound was like nothing you’d ever heard. It was beautiful, soft, angelic, almost. Music to your ears. “Hey,” he said, matching your tone, “Whatever gets you to do your job.” You fake-glared at him, shoving him playfully. “No, but, seriously… I just…” Spencer continued, running his free hand through his dark curls, his tone becoming genuine, “Thought you might like it, I guess. Those Google searches of yours make me think you might like AriZona juuuuuust a little bit.”
You took a long sip from your drink, hoping it would help hide the blush creeping across your face. “Thank you, Spencer. This is really sweet of you.” You tucked a stray strand of hair behind your ear. Spencer coughed awkwardly, breaking the long eye contact that you two had been holding, instead electing to stare at his can of Kickstart.
“So, those texts,” He began, teasingly, “Who’s this lucky guy?” He laughed, but you could almost see a pink hue dusting his cheeks.
You scoffed, turning away in your chair dramatically to hide your matching pink flush. “There is no way in hell I would tell anyone  that! It’s a secret, Spencer!” Spencer cocked his head, a mixture of confusion and disappointment painting his features. “So!” You scrambled to change the subject. “Are you ready for the karaoke livestream later? It’s gonna be great!”
His expression shifted to a smile. “Yeah, we’re all ready.” His voice was soft, and he smiled gently. “What about you? Got any good songs lined up for this evening?”
You smiled devilishly as you clicked to another tab, revealing a list. “Do I ever!”
Espresso – Sabrina Carpenter
Silver Spring – Fleetwood Mac
Picture you – Chappell Roan
Freak – Doja Cat
Somethin’ Stupid – Frank Sinatra and Nancy Sinatra
From the Start – Laufey
Lovefool – The Cardigans
December, 1963 – Frankie Valli
Piano Man – Billy Joel
Spencer’s eyes scanned the list, stopping on Somethin’ Stupid. He turned to you, grinning. “Somethin’ stupid would be so great,” He insisted, grasping your shoulder now, “It’s cute, sweet, very you.” Your face was insanely hot, and you knew it. Surely, Spencer did too. He had eyes.
You merely shrugged. “I’d really like to do it, but I want to do the original duet, and I just don’t know who’d do it with me. I really love the harmonies, y’know? I just need someone to sing the melody,” You rambled nervously, gaining momentum by the second. “Maybe Court? Or Angela? I just don’t know. I don’t wanna spring it on them, but I haven’t asked or anything, and-”
Spencer’s grip on your shoulder tightened. “I’ll do it!” He exclaimed, cutting off your rambling. “If- I- Uh- If you’ll have me, that is!” He smiled sheepishly, running a hand through his increasingly messy hair again. He was definitely getting pink now.
You nearly leapt from your chair. Your heart leapt into your throat. You had to keep your mouth shut to keep it and all your feelings from pouring out. You nodded enthusiastically. “Would you really?” You cheered, grasping Spencer’s hand, “That would be great! I don’t know what to say. Thank you, thank you!” You could hardly contain your excitement.
Spencer stood, beginning to make his way back to his own desk. “Alright then,” he chuckled sheepishly, “I guess I’ll see you later, then.”
“See you later, Spence!” The nickname tasted sweet on your tongue. “Thank you again!”
Soon, you found yourself on the Smosh Games stage, perched on the classic couch amongst your closest friends as the crew bustled about, getting the stream set up. Courtney and Damien stood in front of the two microphones, giggling and joking to one another. Suddenly, Spencer’s voice echoed through the room, announcing the start of the stream. “3, 2, 1, and we’re live!” Immediately, Courtney and Damien broke into song.
You couldn’t stop laughing. You absolutely adored when you got to do karaoke with your friends. Hearing them sing, singing together, laughing and joking, and even showing off your own singing voice, while raising money for something you cared about? It was one of your favorite things you had ever done at Smosh. Your friends were busting out some real bangers tonight, and you were living for it. As Damien and Ian’s rendition of  The Saga Begins came to a close, you felt eyes land on you. “Y/N, do you wanna go next?” Courtney volun-told you, pushing you out of your seat.
You stood, your eyes meeting Spencer’s silently asking, Do you still want this? Do you want me? He caught your gaze, smiling, giving you a swift nod as he stood as well. He whispered your song choice to Alex before coming into the light. “Alright,” he said, looking at you, “You ready for this?”
You put on a brave face, internally buzzing. You shouldn’t have been so giddy. It was a favor, nothing more. Your friend volunteered to sing a duet with you, you weren’t a teenage girl being brought backstage by Harry Styles for a meet and greet. You shook your hands, trying to calm the storm of butterflies in your stomach.
“Oh, I’m ready. The real question,” You paused, glancing around at your castmates, then at the cameras, “Is if they are ready.”
Spencer looked between you and the camera, smirking. “Trust me, they aren’t ready. Hit it, Alex!”
The opening notes of Somethin’ Stupid floated gently through the studio. It was a starkly different vibe from the last song, but somehow, it couldn’t have felt more right. The lights were insanely bright. You felt like you’d been put on the spot, hung out to dry, scared in a way you’d never felt in a karaoke livestream before. Probably because you’d never sung a love song with your crush in one of these things, you noted off-handedly. You glanced to your left and saw Spencer already looking at you, a dumb smile on his face. He nodded reassuringly, looking almost as nervous as you felt.
I know I stand in line until you think you have the time to spend an evening with me
And if we go someplace to dance, I know that there's a chance you won't be leaving with me
The rest of the people in the room seemed to fall away. The lights seemed to dim. You could hear your friends cheering for you softly, almost distantly, but your eyes didn’t leave Spencer’s. As you sang, it was just the two of you. No lights, no cameras, no castmates, no crew, no hundreds of thousands of people watching. Just you two.
Then afterwards we drop into a quiet little place and have a drink or two
And then I go and spoil it all by saying somethin' stupid like, "I love you"
Your face was hot, and you felt like puking. After singing “I love you,” you managed to tear yourself from Spencer’s gaze, glancing around the room and into the camera. You were vaguely aware of your friends watching in awe, of the dropped jaws, the whispering. The moment was intimate, too intimate for a livestream being watched by thousands of people. You’d seen the comments and edits shipping you, hell, you sought them out. You knew that the fans were having a field day with this. You kept singing, forcing down the sick, nervous feeling in your chest.
I can see it in your eyes, that you despise the same old lies you heard the night before
And though it's just a line to you, for me it's true, and never seemed so right before
I practice every day to find some clever lines to say to make the meaning come true
But then I think I'll wait until the evening gets late, and I'm alone with you
Somehow, you were gazing lovingly into Spencer’s eyes again, and he was doing the same. You’d never seen him quite like this: Soft, gentle, nervous as can be. He looked at you through his eyelashes, flirtatiously, sheepishly, and you wondered how much of this was for the camera and how much was real. You tried to keep yourself from getting your hopes up, but it was too late.
The time is right, your perfume fills my head, the stars get red, and, oh, the night's so blue
And then I go and spoil it all by saying somethin' stupid like, "I love you"
The instrumental break came, and you welcomed the break from singing, swallowing back your feelings, and looking over to your friends on the couch. They all looked, to put it simply, dumbfounded. Courtney gave you an encouraging nod and a smile. Shayne shot you two thumbs up. Angela just excitedly mouthed Oh my God!
The time is right, your perfume fills my head, the stars get red, and, oh, the night's so blue
And then I go and spoil it all by saying somethin' stupid like, "I love you"
"I love you"
"I love you"
"I love you"
"I love you"
Despite the song ending, Spencer and you stood completely still, merely staring at each other. He had a lovesick, dumb smile painted on his lips, which you were sure mirrored your own. You could faintly hear the cast and crew calling out to you, asking if you were okay, but you didn’t care. You just kept staring. The space between you two, mere inches between the two mic stands, felt electrically charged. You had so much you wanted to say, so much to finally tell Spencer, and yet your mind drew a blank. You had no words to describe how you felt in that moment. Nervous, excited, flustered, breathless, slightly embarrassed. None of it was enough. You felt like you were flying, like all the air in your lungs had turned to helium and floated you into the air. Spencer’s, too. It was just the two of you, soaring through the air together as everything and everyone else fell away.
There was nothing but you, Spencer, and the warm, fuzzy, electric haze hovering between you. You could kiss him. You really wanted to kiss him.
And then, Ian was between you, one hand on each of your shoulders, exclaiming something about moving on to the next song, and the moment was over.
You and Spencer went your separate ways: you went back to the couch with the rest of the cast, and Spencer went back to his place behind the camera. You plopped down next to Angela, who promptly grabbed your forearm. You met her shocked gaze, matching her expression, but trying to be as subtle as possible.
Angela leaned in, putting her lips by your ear. “Holy shit, Y/N,” she murmured, “What was that?” You shook your head and shrugged, trying to remain unnoticed by the cameras. “Y/N, that was like… insanely emotionally loaded. Either he’s a really great actor or he’s completely in love with you.”
You chuckled and shoved her playfully, brushing it off. “C’mon, Ang, I’m sure it’s not really like that. Don’t play with my heart, I can't handle it!” You pretended to faint, feigning offense.
She shoved you back, laughing. “I’m serious!” She insisted, keeping her voice low so the microphones couldn’t pick her up. “He practically had hearts for eyes.” You just shook your head and rolled your eyes, turning back to watch your friends singing.
The rest of the livestream, you could hardly tear your eyes away from Spencer, and he seemed to have the same problem: you caught his eyes lingering on you as he looked around the room more than once, and you felt heat flare in your cheeks each time. Maybe Angela was right? You tried not to get your hopes up. Every time you caught Spencer’s eye, they only got higher.
The stream ended with a chorus of ‘thank you’s and ‘goodbye’s from you and the rest of the cast, and just like that, your long, long week was over and you finally got to crash. All that was left was the car ride home with Spencer.
Oh, God, you realized with a start, freezing in your tracks, Spencer. This was gonna be one awkward car ride. Right on cue, you felt a hand fall on your shoulder. You turned slowly to find Spencer, with his cute, curly hair, and his glasses, and his goofy, sheepish smile. God, you liked him so much.
But you heard the lyrics of the song the two of you had sung. You had something good with him: A safe, comfortable friendship. An alignment in your sense of humor. Someone that you could trust, no matter what. You knew you had something rare, something once-in-a-lifetime, and you weren’t about to ruin it by telling him how you truly felt.
So you took a deep breath and shoved your feelings down as you climbed into the passenger seat of his car a few minutes later. The drive was quiet. You could feel Spencer glancing at you every few seconds, but you didn’t tear your eyes away from the window or say a word. You knew that if you looked at him, or god forbid, opened your mouth, you wouldn’t be able to stop yourself from word-vomiting your feelings all over.
As the car slowed to a stop outside your apartment building, you finally glanced up at Spencer, finding his gaze already on you. His eyes were wide and shiny, reflecting the Los Angeles city lights in a way that looked like stars. His lips parted slightly, and he took a breath like he was about to say something, but paused, clearly considering his words. “Listen, Y/N,” he began. You knew all too well where this was going. I don’t want you to get the wrong idea, or You’re a really great friend, but…, or something equally horrible. You couldn’t handle that, not now. Collecting your things with a newfound haste, you stood, cutting him off.
“Thanks for the ride, Spence!” You exclaimed, your tone strained, “See you Monday!”
He looked straight ahead and swallowed thickly, not meeting your eyes as he responded, “Yeah… Yeah, see you.” You watched as his car peeled out into the street and slowly disappeared, standing on the stoop until all that was left of the vehicle was the red smear of taillights on the horizon, which very well could have belonged to anyone. You sighed and kept standing there, hoping beyond hope that his car would reappear. It didn’t.
An hour later, you were slumped on your couch, in your sweats, on a phone call with Angela. You’d shot Spencer a text about half an hour ago, letting him know you’d have your car back by Monday, so he wouldn’t need to drive you anymore. Read, no response. God, you chided yourself, you’d really done it this time.
“Y/N, I swear!” Angela gushed through the phone speakers, “I saw how he was looking at you. It was not a ‘just friends’ look or an ‘I hope she doesn’t take this the wrong way’ look. It was a ‘Please notice me, I will do anything for you’ look. It was written all over his face! He was seriously looking at you like you hung the moon just for him. Don’t be so hard on yourself!”
You shook your head, even though you knew Angela couldn’t see the gesture. “I appreciate you feeding my delusions, Ang, but at some point, I think I need to just cut my losses. He doesn’t like me. That’s just how it-” A knock at the door cut you off. You stood, murmuring something to Angela about having to answer the door real quick.
As you trudged through your apartment, weighed down by your long week, you began to wonder who on earth would be knocking on your door at this hour. You wondered, offhandedly, if you should get a weapon, but you told yourself it was probably just a package or something, nothing to worry about.
When your door swung open, nothing could have prepared you for what was behind it. There, on your doorstep, was Spencer, bouquet in his hand and stupid, sheepish grin on his face. You gasped softly when you saw him, frozen in your tracks. You knew your jaw was on the floor, and you couldn’t be bothered to pick it back up. “Angela…” You said softly, “I’m… I’m gonna need to call you back…”
The phone call ended with a click, and then you were met with silence again. Neither you nor Spencer spoke, just staring at each other for a moment. You couldn’t wrap your mind around what was happening. After what felt like years, you spoke, your throat dry and your voice soft and strained. “Spencer? What… What are you doing here?”
“Y/N.” You reveled in the way he said your name. Quiet, gentle. He exhaled your name like a sigh of relief, a realization, a promise. “I just-” He ran his free hand through his messy curls, “-I needed to see you. I couldn’t leave things the way we did. I don’t want it to be awkward. I want to tell you how I feel, and I want you to believe me, hence these,” he slightly gestured with the flowers.
You couldn’t speak, couldn’t even move. You tried to snap out of it, assuming it must be a dream, but no matter how hard you tried, you couldn’t wake up, and Spencer and his flowers stayed steadfast. This was real.
Spencer took your stunned silence as a cue to continue. “I love you, Y/N. So, so much, and I never said anything because I didn’t want to ruin our friendship, but,” His voice was hoarse and brittle, “I can’t keep it to myself anymore. I need you to know. It’s not just some bit for the camera, or some song on a livestream, it’s everything. You are everything.  I’m sorry if this is weird, but I just… Yeah, I just needed you to know.” He looked down at his shoes, too embarrassed to meet your gaze.
“Spencer,” You breathed, taking a step forward. He looked up, his mouth gaping open in an expression of slight shock as you grabbed his free hand. You took another step closer. There was a mere breath between you two, now. “You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to hear you say that.”
Spencer inched forward slightly, his eyes flicking to your lips. “Y/N, can I…?” He asked nervously. You said nothing. Instead, your lips crashed against his, your hands finding the back of his neck and pulling him in closer. The kiss was eager yet gentle, three years of quiet nights editing, gentle touches behind the camera, and inside jokes around the office. Three years of flirting on camera, sitting together at lunch, cozy game nights, and secrets. Three years of being best friends and yearning to be more. After a moment, Spencer’s hands found your waist and the back of your head. You heard the plastic wrapped around the flowers crinkle as they dropped to the ground, and frankly, you didn’t care.
As you kissed, you felt the stress of the week melting away. Everything suddenly fell into place, and you finally felt like things made sense. You felt complete.
You pulled away, but stayed wrapped up in each other’s arms, simply looking into each other’s eyes, taking the moment in.
“I never want to forget this moment,” You murmured, tipping your forehead against his. He leaned in and kissed you again, casual this time, like he had all the time in the world to kiss you. When he pulled away again, you glanced down, chuckling. “I wish I was wearing something nicer than my old sweats, though,” you said, half joking, half serious, smirking at him wryly.
He chuckled softly, looking you up and down slowly, as if revering you despite your attire. “Oh, hush,” He insisted, his tone full of love, “It’s perfect,” and then, softer, “You’re perfect.”
You couldn’t stop yourself from smiling. All of a sudden, your life was perfect.

Working at Smosh is a dream. You spend all day with your favorite people, your whole job is to watch, film, and edit videos of your friends goofing around, and you met your best friend there. You started as an editor for Smosh Pit, then eventually moved up to whatever videos they needed you for, and now make regular appearances in many videos across the channels. Spencer had been an editor there for a couple of years before you started, but you two became fast friends. Now known as one of the dynamic duos of the office, there are various videos and edits of the two of you.
Things were great, but there was one teensy, tiny, small problem. You were in love with your best friend. And that scared you– a lot. So you did what any normal person would do in this situation: avoid him! If you stayed away long enough, the feelings would disappear, right? Wrong. Not only did the feelings not go away, but you were just sad now.
You yearned to tell Spencer about your day, about the squirrel outside your apartment building, the new game you picked up, and how your coffee had an uneven cream-to-coffee ratio. The little things you always updated him about that made your friendship so special. You weren’t the only one who was affected by the distance; the people in the office could tell that something was wrong with both of you. Spencer’s usual witty comments were appearing less and less, your laughter wasn’t as prominent, and you weren’t hanging around the games pod as much as you usually do.
Angela and Courtney decided to take matters into their own hands after the fourth day in a row of awkward tension and longing glances. The two had cornered you after lunch on Friday, finding you at a table in the back by yourself, Spencer not in his usual spot by your side.
“Something happened between you and Spencer, and you need to spill now,” Courtney sat down on your left, Angela on your right.
“Jeez, nice to see you two, too.” You roll your eyes as you shuffle around your food with your fork.
“No, but seriously, did he say something stupid? I’ll kick his ass, or like, delete all of his progress on like Resident Evil or something.” Angela offers, folding her arms on the table as she leans closer.
“He didn’t do anything wrong, guys. It’s stupid, and it doesn’t matter.” You attempt to avoid their questions and stares, attempt being the key word.
“(Y/N), the tension between you two has been so strong that even Trevor has picked up on it, and he’s terrible at reading the room. No offense to Trev. So tell us what’s going on, or we will lock the two of you in the costume closet until you figure it out.” Courtney stands their ground, eyebrows raised in challenge as she expects you to fight back and deny that anything is wrong.
You let out a sigh, your fork falling with a small thud. “I…I’m in love with Spencer, but I know that he obviously doesn’t feel the same, so I figured that putting space between us would allow me to get over this stupid crush.” You mumble in embarrassment, embarrassed to admit that you’re in love with Spencer, but also embarrassed at how stupid your plan sounds out loud.
Courtney is about to respond when the sound of a dropped plate is heard behind them…Spencer. Courtney and Angela share a wide-eyed look before a silent agreement is made between them, and they both get up, making some excuse about call times. Spencer takes Courtney’s spot.
“You…you love me?” His voice is soft, a tone only used with you.
You keep your gaze down, not wanting to look at him, “yeah, I mean…how could I not? You’re so kind, and thoughtful, and effortlessly witty and funny. I love just listening to you nerd out about whatever game or movie you’ve recently seen, even if I don’t understand half of what you’re saying. And you…you get me, and we just click so well, and you’re my best friend…but that’s all we are, best friends. So, I thought that if I put space between us, then my feelings would go away, but it hasn’t been working, and now I’m still in love and I miss you…” You trail off, realizing you just word vomited every thought in your head.
Spencer stares at you, processing everything you just spewed at him. “I…I love you too,” he finally manages to respond.
Your eyes widen, heart stopping for a moment, “You do?”
“Yeah, since like…Apocalypse, we stayed up for so long editing those videos. And you…god, you get so giggly when you're tired, and I remember you laughing at some terrible bit Shayne made in the TNTL, and I fell in love at that moment…” Spencer’s hand finds yours on the table.
You finally lift your eyes to meet his, “so…if I suggested we go out to dinner on Saturday?”
“I think it’s my job to ask you that,” he quips, the familiar banter falling into place, as natural as breathing.
You let out a small laugh, your nerves easing. “Well, if you ask, I think my answer would be yes.”
“Yeah? So that Italian place you’ve been begging to go to, Saturday, 7? I’ll pick you up, take you on a proper date, and if you’re good…you might get a goodnight kiss.” A smirk makes its way across his face.
“It’s a date,” you confirm with a smile. So maybe avoiding the guy you’re madly in love with wasn’t the best idea, but hey, it still worked out. You definitely owe Courtney and Angela coffees now, maybe a week's worth.

Summary: When y/n is having a bad day, the only person who can bring her happy energy back is Spencer, her boyfriend
Word count: 769
Tumblr media
This was that one really rare time where you actually enjoy the night part of playing werewolf.
Ever since you joined Smosh, you have been known to bring a lot of energy and hype up every singe one of your cast members, on and off camera. This wasn’t a persona or anything, it was just you. So, chaotic shoots came naturally to you. It was easy for you to act as the one who starts or continues high energy, chaotic and funny moments.
However, today wasn’t like most days. It had started off when woke up late, got dressed in a rush and ran to your car, then realized you were running out of gas. It was safe to say you got to the Smosh office later than expected, which didn’t leave you enough time to drink your morning coffee before the first shoot of the day.
Everything else after that had gone by in a blur, you making sure to look presentable on camera, but not having enough energy to burst out with screams or laughter. During lunch, you didn’t engage in conversation, just watching your fellow cast members talk. This was a little strange to your co-workers, who were so used to your constant laughter and interesting comments. You reassured them you were okay, just having a bad day and they didn’t press you on the issue.
Now you were sitting down on the left corner of games couch, enjoying having your eyes closed for a few seconds but dreading the next 45 minutes left of the shoot. You looked at your boyfriend, Spencer, off stage, he was wearing his Legacy hoodie and his Smosh hat.
Spencer looked at you and like he had a sixth sense for it, he immediately realized you were silently asking for a 5 minutes break. He waited for the night to end to finally say “Could someone pause the audio really quick? We’re gonna take a quick five, for um- technical issues”
You tiredly smiled at him and mouthed the word ‘Thanks’, before standing up and looking for a quiet space. You ended up grabbing a drink and sitting on the green room, staring at the art in the wall.
“Hey, can I come in?” You saw Spencer at the door. His presence instantly brought you warmth. You nodded “You okay?”
“Yeah, just having a bad day” You patted the couch, gesturing for him to sit down by your side
“I’m sorry I didn’t notice” He sat down next to you, your legs touching
“You were busy, it’s okay” You smiled at him, your eye blinking slowly “is it time to go back?” You frowned
“In 2 minutes” Slowly, he placed his hand on your knee and you rested your head in his shoulder “do you wanna watch the moose master video with me later?”
“On the couch? And with a blanket? And popcorn?” You lazily grinned up at him
“Alright, I’ll break the ‘no food on set’ rule for you” He smiled at your closeness
“YES!” You grabbed his arm in excitement. The idea alone made you happy and warm
“There she is!” His smile got even bigger as he held your hand and got up from his seat
“Okay, let’s do this, I want my popcorn as soon as possible” You walked to the games stage once again and sat down on the couch with a fresh smile on your face.
The shoot went by quickly, starting off with you making a big effort to be your chaotic and happy self, but in the end, with the cast’s help, it came to you naturally. You managed to win as the werewolf for your last round, which everyone went crazy about.
After wrapping up the video, the cast dissipated for a break before the next shoot, but you never even left the couch, just laying down and calling for Spencer’s attention.
“Spencerrr” You acted as if you were melting into the couch. He brought his computer and a fluffy blanket to the couch
“I’ll go grab the popcorn, stay here” he kissed the top of your head and you snuggled in between the cushions
When he came back, popcorn bucket in one hand and drinks on the other, he snuggled right by your side
“Wow, you’re also breaking the ‘no drinks’ rule?” You asked, incredulously
“Don’t tell anyone, though. Pinkie promise” He held up his pinkie and you offered yours
You rested your head on the crook of his neck and over time he could feel your breathing slowing down. He smiled to himself in the darkness of the set.

Jess Mariano x fem!reader!
Summary: In which Luke follows Jess to know his little secret.
Warnings: a couple of curses. Pure fluff. me being obssessed with Jess, sorry guys.
Masterlist!
Luke didn’t understand.
Where the hell was his nephew going every afternoon at four? Was he doing drugs? Was he planning to steal a gnome again? Did he want to cover Dean Forester’s house in pink glitter?
With Jess Mariano, anything could happen.
But even so, Luke couldn’t even begin to imagine what the hell he was doing. All he knew about the situation at hand was that the kid left his house twenty minutes before four, without fail. Not a minute more, not a minute less, with a black backpack slung over his shoulder and wearing the best clothes he had in his wardrobe.
When he finally figures out the reason, he would feel a little stupid for realizing how obvious it was. But for the moment, all he could do was try to find a solution. And the best plan that came to his mind was to follow Lorelai’s idea as if that was really going to work. He didn’t know what was going through his mind when he agreed to it, but he did. In fact, they both did, pretending to focus on their coffees while they watched Jess walk by at 3:40, like every afternoon. Only this time, as soon as they saw him turn the corner, both of them tossed their coffees to the side before rushing after him.
They were spying on him.
In their defense, they just wanted to know if Jess was up to something weird. Or at least, that’s what they told themselves as they cautiously followed his steps, dressed in dark clothes so no one would recognize them, even hiding in the bushes when Jess seemed to sense that something was off. It was a miracle he hadn’t spotted them. Or maybe he did but he didn’t care too much that they knew in the end. Whatever it was, it allowed Luke and Lorelai to follow his steps perfectly, before watching him enter the city library.
That made even less sense.
Yes, Jess read a lot. Way more than anyone they knew. But going to the library to – apparently – study was a whole different thing. Maybe that’s why they exchanged worried glances, thinking he was really doing something bad, before entering after him. To their surprise, they only startled a couple of people inside, who shot them nasty glares to make them quiet down.
“He’s not here,” the woman glanced around. “He can’t have gone too far.”
As soon as she finished saying that, her eyes landed exactly where they needed to be. On two teenagers sitting on the couches farthest from the entrance, completely in their own worlds. One of them they recognized as Jess, with one arm behind the back of the girl sitting next to him, leaning toward her as he said something that made her laugh. And the girl, they recognized her as the daughter of the owners of the supermarket, the only adults who actually liked the guy.
Now they understood why.
Because there was no way to deny that these two teenagers clearly had something going on between them. Something they fully confirmed when Jess, noticing how close he was, gently pushed a lock of the girl’s hair off her face, with a tenderness they had never seen from him. He moved it away, caressed her cheek delicately, and finally leaned in just to kiss her. His lips, her cheek again, and anywhere else he found, revealing something neither of them had ever seen before.
That’s when they understood.
Jess wasn’t sneaking off for anything bad, but for the exact opposite. To go see his girlfriend, the calmest girl in town, the one who always greeted them with warmth. As if she knew they were the only family her boyfriend had. And that realization instantly made them feel guilty, because everything they had imagined about the guy was completely different. - CALL YOU
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
| pairing: jess mariano X reader
| warnings: nothing just fluff :)
| summary: late night phone call with jess
| A/N: my first jess writing!! Love him bad and sorry but this was a little rushed :p
made this for @xoxo-yamil3t <33
Tumblr media
The Chilton workload should’ve knocked you out cold by now. There’s an untouched essay open on your desk, two textbooks still cracked halfway, and your uniform blazer tossed over the back of your chair. But you’re curled up on your couch instead, blanket tucked around your shoulders, rereading The Bell Jar.
You didn’t even mean to reread it. You’d just mentioned it earlier, sitting across from Jess at Luke’s, where you were supposed to be studying but somehow ended up reading each other lines out loud.
“You only like it because Plath is brutally honest and a little bit chaotic,” Jess says, shoving a fry in his mouth.
“And you only like it because she hates everyone” you fired back.
He’d smiled, you blushed, but neither of you mentioned it and kept talking about the book.
The phone rings beside you, You check the time. It’s 10:47 PM. “Hey.” You say softly, already knowing who it is.
“Thought you might be awake,” Jess says, his voice quiet. “I figured all the Chilton work was probably pulling you down.” You smile, curling deeper into your blanket. “It’s trying. But I’m fighting back.”
“I’m picturing you in some dramatic sword fight with a textbook.”
“Pretty close,” you respond, laughing softly. “Although, in my picture I’m losing.” There’s a pause, a good kind of pause.
“What are you doing?” you ask. “Lying on my bed, staring at the ceiling, pretending I don’t want to call you.”
you smlie. “And how’s that going for you?” “Terribly,” he murmurs. “Obviously.”You look down at the corner of your book, where you’ve underlined too many lines that remind you of him.
“I liked what you said today,” Jess adds after a moment. “About how books feel safer than people most of the time.”
You nod, even though he can’t see you. “I meant it. But… sometimes people surprise you.” “Yeah?” “Yeah.” you say. “Like this kid I know who acts like he doesn’t care about anything but somehow remembers the exact quote I said four hours ago.”
Jess chuckles, playing with the page of the book he’s reading. “Sounds like a decent guy.” “He’s alright,” you tease. “A little moody. Bit of a smartass.”
“Sounds like your type.”
You’re quiet for a moment, head full of things you’re not brave enough to say out loud. “I guess” you joke, gaining a soft chuckle from him.
You squeeze the phone tighter, your lips parting to say something, but nothing comes out.
“You should come by tomorrow,” he says. “I’ll save you a seat in the diner.”
“Sure,” you say, smiling now. “And I’ll bring my homework I’ll pretend to do.”“And I’ll pretend not to stare at you the whole time.”
Your cheeks blush. “You’re not subtle, Mariano.” “I never said I wanted to be.” You both sit there in silence for a moment, smiling.
You roll onto your back, the blanket slipping down your shoulder. “I need to get some sleep.. Goodnight, Jess.” You say, secretly not wanting to hang up at all.
“see you tomorrow” he responds quietly with a smile. You wait until you hear the dial tone hums in your ear before hanging up.

♟️┆A Soft Love .ᐟ
Spencer Agnew x f!reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: When y/n needs help with the rules of a game, her boyfriend is there to help her
Word count: 757
Tumblr media
30 minutes ago, when Shayne introduced the game you were playing today - a name you couldn’t even pronounce - you were prepared to understand the rules better during the filming and excited to start the shooting day.
Now, you had a headache, a newly developed hatred for this game and an embarrassing urge to cry.
You looked around at the other cast members and noticed they were all concentrated in their own cards and tokens. You looked down at your own cards, realizing you don’t know the meaning to at least a third of them. You got a little embarrassed.
You looked up and noticed Spencer already looking at your furrowed eyebrows. It’s like he had a sixth sense when it came to you. He’s always been like that ever since the very first time you met. From handing you drinks during long work days to looking out for you during and after videos, always helping you with whatever he can.
“Does anyone need any help?” He asked, but it felt more like a suggestion to check if he could help you
“Um, I don’t wanna be a burden or anything, but I kinda need help” You awkwardly laughed
“Of course,” He made his way over to your seat and knelt down “and you’re never a burden” He whispered and you could distinguish the honesty in his voice and see the care in his eyes
You felt your heart flutter. Spencer was truly the sweetest and most lovable person you’ve ever met, he was your best friend and boyfriend and his actions never fail to remind you of your mutual care for each other. He acted as if it was his job to look out for you and you did the exact same thing for him.
“Um, I just need help with these extra cards” you broke the eye contact first
“Yeah, so, these two are kind of a pair, you need both for this effect to work-” he looked back at you and noticed you were biting your nail. Gently, he took your hand in his “Do you want to take five?” He whispered
“No, it’s okay” You shook your head
“Promise?” He squeezed your hand
“Promise,” You squeezed his hand back “So the pair?” You took a deep breath and refocused your attention to the cards laid out in front of you
Spencer explained each one of them in the simple and patient manner he always did and in a matter of minutes you felt confident to go back into the game. When he got up to leave, you gently pulled his hand.
“Thank you, Spence” You whispered
“No problem” He whispered back with a smile that matched yours
You continued with the game better than you had started, making your way through the difficult language and silently building a very strong defense. And just like that, you had made enough progress to very suddenly sweep everyone off their feet.
“Wait, y/n you literally just won” Tommy said incredulously
“What?” Chance gasped
“Wait, yes! How??” Shayne had started is signature laugh at this point
“First of all, I’m very shocked” You played into the bit while still being extremely stunned “Second of all, why are you all so surprised?”
“Did Spencer help you cheat or something?” Chance accused you
“Okay, That’s dirty!” You pointed your finger at an open mouthed Chance “We didn’t cheat, he just helped understand the game, and then I won naturally” You acted snappy
“Alright, fair enough” Shayne laughed
You looked behind the cameras to be met with a smiling Spencer. You smiled back and winked at him, his cheeks got pink.
Later that day, you were sitting by Spencer’s side on the Board AF table, watching the cast play a game of one night werewolf. It was a chaotic shoot, as always, and while you loved being a part of them and contributing to whatever mess they were up to, right now it felt great to just sit by your boyfriend’s side, helping him with the rules of the game and sharing laughs with him.
“Thank you for that, earlier” You whispered, turning to him
“Whenever,” He assured you “it’s what I’m here for” Your smile got even bigger
“That and making misogynistic jokes” You giggled
“Hey, okay” He laughed “But seriously, whenever you need me I’m here for you”
You visibly melted from his words “Okay” You whispered, feeling your heart flutter “I love you”
“I love you too” He smiled happy to be sharing this moment with you

🎮┆nerdy talk .ᐟ
Spencer Agnew x f!reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: “you’re such a nerd bro, like just kiss me already” girlfriend and tomato level flustered boyfriend
Word count: 891
Tumblr media
Okay, fine, you admit it: You have a huge thing for nerds (It’s not even a secret now given how much you talk about it). So, bagging Spencer Agnew out of all of them felt like you won the lottery everyday.
You truly love your boyfriend. You love whenever he talks about his interests, when you two play games together, when you get to watch him in his element, at the games stage, and literally everything else about him.
Currently, Spencer was sitting on the big gray couch waiting for the rest of the cast members. You sat next to him and made small talk with the crew until the start of the video.
The game you were playing today was more of a team game, so it was pretty fun for you to play into the dynamics with your fellow cast members while still trying to not do too bad at the game itself. About halfway through the shoot Angela asked a question about a specific part of the gameplay.
“oh it’s like a secret door thing” Spencer answered “you have to find a code hidden in the other levels, but we can just use this other door for now”
“How do you just know that?” Angela asked while following his instructions
“Gosh, you’re such a nerd, Spencer” you smiled at him “like just kiss me already, bro”
You whispered the last part, knowing the editors would most likely cut it out of the video. But nonetheless, Spencer’s whole face turned red from your comment. He hid his face with his hands immediately after seeing your amazed expression.
“Oh?” Angela gasped, already starting her signature laugh
“I’ve never seen your face do that” You smiled between your laughs, with no malicious intent in your voice
“Don’t do this” you could hear his muffled giggles, you could tell he was partly joking and partly a little embarrassed
“Okay, let’s move on!” Trevor announced, mostly for the camera, leaving Spencer with a few seconds to regain his composure. You noticed his cheeks were still a little pink and he seemingly couldn’t look at you without a smile growing on his lips.
Tumblr media
After the shoot day, you and Spencer went back to his place for dinner and video games. On the way there, you picked up some take out from a drive through while talking about the new game releases coming this year. You loved listening to Spencer’s non-stop yapping about the graphics and the design and the mechanics and whatever he wanted to talk about, really.
The image of him being so flustered never once left you mind, though, and at some point he must’ve caught you staring, considering the weird look he was now giving you “What?” He asked
“Nothing,” You smiled at him “so, tell me more about that game trilogy” you changed the subject
He dragged out the suspicious look on his face, but ultimately decided he wasn’t going to push you “The horror one?”
You continued listening to him until you got home and the conversation dissipated. You ate your meal under the colorful television lights as you and Spencer watched a movie, legs all tangled together under the blankets. You would sometimes joke about certain parts of the movie, ending up doubled down laughing and having to re-watch multiple scenes.
You put your plates aside on the coffee table “Can we play that horror game?”
“Sure,” He beamed at you “do you want the controller?”
“Hell no” You cuddled up next to him
The game itself wasn’t too scary, but the jumpscares would always jolt you awake screaming, making Spencer hold in his laughter, not wanting to be rude. At a specific part of the game, where the character was walking down a hall and tensions were high, you could feel yourself getting increasingly scared.
“It’s crazy how they can build so much tension” You said, hugging his arm tightly
“I know” his whole face lit up with excitement “and it’s all in the atmosphere, like literally the little details, its insane. It’s like the song and the purposeful glitches and the lights and the scary pictures. It’s those small things that we wouldn’t notice otherwise”
“Gosh, Spencer, you’re such a nerd” You were fully staring by this point “like, literally just kiss me, dude”
In a matter of milliseconds, he threw the controller across the couch and cradled your face with an intensity you’ve never seen him adopt before. His lips met yours and you instantly melted from his touch, moving your hands to the back of his neck. You were almost sinking into the couch cushions, but you didn’t mind at all, never wanting to leave this moment.
He pulled away and placed little kisses on your cheek, nose and forehead “Got what you wanted?” He asked
“Yup,” You beamed “I can die happy now”
He laughed but didn’t quite pull away and you admired his smile.
“Can I tell you a secret?” Your hands moved to cup his cheeks
“Anything”
“I have, like, a huge crush on you, dude” You whispered, being met with his laugh
“can I tell you a secret too?” You nodded “I have a crush on you too”
You widened your eyes and opened your mouth in fake shock and he leaned in to kiss you once again.

You’re the fast-talking, story-rambling, chaos-brained ray of sunshine. He's the quiet, soft-smiling, “just happy to be here” listener—who’s maybe not as chill as he looks when it comes to you.
Tumblr media
You didn’t stop talking.
Not out of nerves. Not because you were trying to fill the silence. No, you just had a lot to say, and unfortunately— or fortunately, if you asked him—for Spencer Agnew, you’d decided he was going to hear every single bit of it.
“And I’m not saying Courtney went feral during the improv challenge, but when she climbed onto the table, screamed ‘I’M YOUR NEW GOD NOW,’ and tried to baptize Damien with a Capri Sun? That’s not ‘yes and’—that’s ‘arrest her.’”
Spencer snorted softly, curled up beside you on the Smosh green room couch.
He didn’t say anything. Just leaned his cheek on his knuckles and watched you with that tiny half-smile that meant he was enjoying this, even if his mouth didn’t move much. But his eyes—his eyes were soft, full of the kind of quiet love that didn’t need words. Like there was nowhere else he’d rather be than next to you, listening.
“And THEN,” you continued, shifting to face him better, “Emily tried to de-escalate with the puppy voice, which just made it worse, and honestly? At that point, we all deserved chaos.”
“You always choose violence,” Spencer murmured.
“I choose accuracy.” You sipped your drink. “Anyway. I haven’t even told you what happened after filming. Do you wanna guess how many times Shayne dropped his mic?”
Spencer tilted his head. “Three?”
“Five. Five. One of them bounced into a plant. It’s in the blooper reel.”
He grinned. Still quiet. Still watching.
And you knew this rhythm by now.
You yapped. You rambled. You ping-ponged from story to insult to theory, sometimes circling back like a walking Google rabbit hole, like if Wikipedia got caffeine and a personality. And Spencer? Spencer sat with you in it. Always listening and always nodding at just the right moment. Always smirking when you hit a particularly unhinged punchline, like he’d been waiting for it the whole time. He never interrupted. Never rushed you. Just watched you like you were his favorite show, soaking in every wild tangent like it made perfect sense. Like your voice was the best background noise the world had to offer—and maybe the main event, too.
You paused for a beat. “I talk too much.”
Spencer blinked. “No, you don’t.”
You gave him a look.
“Okay, you talk a lot,” he amended, eyes warm. “But it’s never too much.”
Your stomach flipped.
You tried to hide it with sass. “You know, most people would say ‘shut up’ by now.”
“I’m not most people,” he said simply.
And that… made something in your chest tug.
You softened. “You ever get tired of listening to me?”
He shook his head. “Never.”
“Even when I rant about my neighbor’s emotional support chinchilla at 2 a.m.?”
“That was riveting.”
“Even when I psychoanalyze everyone’s childhood via their Starbucks orders?”
He smiled. “I still think about Shayne’s being a cry for help.”
You laughed, warm and caught off guard.
Spencer reached out—quietly, slowly—and brushed his fingers against yours on the couch. You blinked at him.
“I like your voice,” he said.
You stilled.
“It’s not just the stories or the jokes,” he went on, gaze focused, steady. “It’s you. You could read the back of a cereal box, and I’d still sit here like it was a movie.”
Your face heated. “...You’re literally in a room with trained comedians.”
“I’m aware.” He leaned in a little. “Still only listening to you.”
You bit your lip, heart stuttering.
“You gonna kiss me or just compliment me to death?”
His voice dropped, low and teasing. “You gonna let me?”
You didn’t answer. Just leaned in and kissed him like you’d been waiting through three seasons and two spin-offs.
His hand caught the side of your face halfway through, steady and careful, like he couldn’t believe this was real—but wasn’t about to let it go. It wasn’t rushed. It wasn’t clumsy. It was exactly right—warm and a little dizzying, like laughing too hard in the sun.
When you finally pulled back, breathless, eyes still half-lidded, Spencer just smiled.
That soft, crooked little smile like you’d just handed him the moon.
“You good?” you asked, voice low.
“Mm-hm,” he nodded, still looking at your mouth. “Gimme a sec. My brain's doing the Windows loading wheel thing.”
You laughed, giddy and flushed.
He tucked a hand behind your knee, squeezing gently. “Okay. Yeah. I'm fine. Great, actually. You kissed me. That's… illegal levels of cool.”
You grinned. “I’ll confess later.”
Spencer leaned in again, forehead pressed to yours. “No rush. I’m a patient man....You’re gonna have so much to say about this, huh?”
You grinned. “Oh, absolutely. Buckle up.”
He nodded.
“Cool,” he said softly. “I’m listening.”
