it isn't as if Mahariel has never gotten ... carried away, before. but that fact doesn't do anything to ebb their frustration at the turn of events. they generally prefer to play things smart. after all, why work at things when they can just be more clever than everyone else?

the other elf's stark refusal to admit he fucked up is what really sets their eye twitching, though. ❝ if you had even the slightest bit of restraint or foresight then you would already have what you need. ❞

arms cross over their chest as they loom over him, jaw clenched in annoyance. they don't typically try to intimidate others. they know how, of course, their whole Warden-that-ended-the-Fifth-Blight-and-survived thing serving as a fairly imposing aura that they've learned to wield rather effectively. the title weighs strangely on their shoulders, though, so Mahariel prefers to not.

     In hindsight, the man might have been able to offer more information to assist in their endeavors. Yet Fenris couldn’t find it in him to care. Sparing the life of a slaver was certainly a tall ask of the elf. He sits on the ground, cleaning the blood off his blade quickly so that he might depart the area sooner rather than later. 

          “ His early departure from this world does not bother me ” It’s curt but honest - Fenris truly held little concern for the consequences of his actions in this case. He finds it difficult these days, with tensions in Kirkwall having hit an all-time high. “ I will find a different way to get what I need ”

     A location was his true goal, where several elves were currently being held. From what he gathered they were near, but the death of this guard prevented him from a more precise location. He would simply have to scour the entire area quickly, brows furrowed slightly as he continues his next course.

it's not exactly a threat. ( okay, well, it is sort of a threat. but just ... well. can a threat be lighthearted? ) it's a lighthearted threat.

it's not the sort of response that Mori is used to getting to her particular brand of aggressive. the other elf is soft spoken, almost quiet. it's ... curious. she hums under her breath, an externalized consideration as she fully takes him in. he's not un-intimidating, but Mori has taken on far more physically fearsome foes. looks can be deceiving, after all.

still. she's not exactly trying to start a fight. quite the opposite, actually ; she'd really prefer to not. especially, y'know. their current circumstances considered.

Love love love characters that present themselves as emotionally open social butterflies but the more you see of them the more obvious it is that they’re the most closed off fuckers in the story. Sure, they want to help you with your personal problems and messy emotions, but if you turn that shit back on them, they’ll shut down or deflect every time. Why are you sticking your nose in their business anyway? It’s not like it matters. They’re not a person, they’re just a role being played. They’re the guy who fixes things and saves people.
