Maiden With The Mask

Hey everyone! So I'm abit late to the Duskwood scene but I am a huge fan though. I will be posting here to discuss all things Duskwood. No one in my rl circle is into it. So unfortunately don't have anyone to bounce my ideas off of or to discuss anything in general with. Hoping fellow Duskwood fans will be able to do that.

Jessy ❤
**SPOILER ALERT various topics from various different episodes will appear in my thoughts/overviews of each character. So if you are someone who hasn't completed up to episode 9 and waiting on the final episode. Then I suggest coming back to read all this once you have. To be on the safe side**
Where do I begin with Jessy?. Right from the start she comes across as just the sweetest person ever. Now this is either very true or a very well calculated misdirection. All of the MC interactions with her came across to me as genuine. As though the impression I was getting was a true reflection of Jessy as a whole in her entirety. So genuine that the thought of it being a lie and that Jessy was trying to manipulate the MC never even crossed my mind until much later. I opted for the MC to have the virtual date with Jessy the night that Dan supposedly had his accident. I explain why I say supposedly about his accident in my overview/thoughts about him. As Jessy was apparently at home having the virtual date with the MC. At first that seemed to rule her out of any suspicion. Same as when she was attacked from behind while on a video call with the MC.
In the beginning her involvement in any of this seemed near enough impossible. However, given the type of game this is and well you know what they say about the quiet ones, the sweet ones or the ones you least suspect. It became clear as the game progressed that it was highly possible that the game could throw a curve ball. One that no one suspected. Plus putting all one's eggs into the basket of innocence when it comes to characters in a game like this is never wise. Neither is getting too attached to fictional characters. Though I do supposed in games such as this one that is part of the fun and paves the way to make plot twists a little more effective.
Hence the reason that I am not ruling out the possibility of Jessy's involvement. As someone who is constantly underestimated due to my personality. I know better than most just how likely it is for someone such as Jessy to be overlooked and not even be considered. However, that is not to say that I have ever been involved in a disappearance of a friend 🤣. The point still stands. Besides a good plot twist is never a bad thing in games such as these.
I am not 100% sure if the man without a face being involved was first brought up by Jessy or not. Naturally if you don't document such things to do character overview/thoughts. The game will only let you go back so far in the conversations to refresh your memory. Which is a shame but also challenges you to try to remember such details.
It is very clear though that Jessy loves things like this. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. To love spooky legends and things that defy logic. It does however make you wonder if Jessy's love for things like that. Could actually make her a very ideal suspect. Ideally of course I do hope she isn't involved in all this. As I do like her.
Which coincidentally makes her the perfect person to be involved. As most Duskwood fans do seem to like her too. Just like me. Yes those of us who like Jessy finding out she's involved would be heartbreaking and a rather devastating. But it would make for the perfect plot twist.
Only time will tell though if she is involved in any way shape or form. The fact that the game has anyone even considering the possibility of her involvement. Proves that the people who made the game. Have indeed made an excellent game. They certainly have us using our brains that's for sure. At least in my case and of those fans that love games like this. Which get you thinking.
In the episode 9 the most recent as of the point I am writing this. She appears to come from upstairs when Cleo calls everyone inside to discuss the gun she found. As I mention in another character thoughts/overview. I mention that it is unclear if she popped upstairs quickly before returning after originally coming inside. Or if she had been up there for a little while before Cleo called everyone to come discuss the gun she found. Either way it has me wondering what she was doing upstairs. Now it could be perfectly innocent. Anything from using the bathroom to putting her phone on charge in her bedroom. Could literally be anything.
She was present when the gun was being discuss and when the man without a face called to say he was coming for them. They were all in the bedroom that I thought was the one Thomas was using. As that's where Hannah's phone was plugged in on charge. Well apart from Dan I think. I explain why I think he wasn't actually present then in my character thoughts/overview about him. So the last episode is set up to seem like Hannah's friends. All apart from Richy are in danger while at what is supposed to be a safe house for them. That when the lights go off and there is an impending sense of danger. Those at the safe house aren't involved at all. Including Jessy.
Which brings me back to the point I made in Richy's character thoughts/overview I did about him. That it could be possible that the man without a face either is Richy. Which would mean he isn't dead. That it's possible that he's not working alone that someone else in the friend group could be helping him. Using being there with everyone else as a cover. Or Michael Hanson is indeed the man without a face and someone from the friendship group could be helping him. Again using being there with everyone as a cover. However, the fact that everyone who's at the safe house apart from Richy is there. Still could mean that Michael Hanson is the man without a face. That no one is helping him. Richy is dead and Hanson got the info about the safe house from Richy's phone.
It's a tough one. Jessy's involvement very possible though. Eager to complete episode 10 now.

Richy ❤
**SPOILER ALERT various topics from various different episodes will appear in my thoughts/overviews of each character. So if you are someone who hasn't completed up to episode 9 and waiting on the final episode. Then I suggest coming back to read all this once you have. To be on the safe side**
Okay so as most of us will know Richy is another one of missing girl Hannah's friends. He's a mechanic who works in his family's garage. Straight of the bat I got the impress that he was a loveable, rather goofy and sweet guy. Unlike some of the others such as Jessy another of Hannah's friends. When investigating Hannah's disappearance he is not shy about not believing in the man without a face. From the start it seemed that while he wanted to find Hannah. He was also a little reserved in his efforts to do so. It's made clear he cares about Hannah and that he wouldn't want anything bad to happen to her.
However, he seemed like a see it to believe it type of guy. That he wasn't one to want to jump to any conclusions. While that is a good way to be. It also made me a little curious about him and his attitude towards getting Hannah back. On more than one occasion it seemed he needed a little convincing. Or that he even though he took part in discussions and what not that he wasn't really that convinced that our investigation would get anywhere.
The whole video call with the MC and Richy was very odd. So odd that it had me convinced that Richy may not be dead. Yes blood did come from his mouth at the end of the call. It did seem as though he appeared to stop breathing. But Idk. While all the conversations and events at first light don't make me suspect Richy is involved. I can't help but wonder if he is.
He knew the location of the safe house where Hannah's friends were going for their safety. He knew the owners and was the one who set it up. Somehow, that seems like an important detail not to dismiss. Now if he really was dead and whoever killed him. Be it the man without a face or an accomplice maybe. Perhaps had Richy's phone in their possession. I suppose finding out the location may have been possible. Especially if Richy had anything on his phone confirming the location. The booking of the safe house. You know anything really that could have that information on there. Then that could well be how the man without a face found them.
In my overview/thoughts on Dan I mentioned that he might have been involved. Due to the fact that as far as I was aware he didn't know the safe house location till he got there. Maybe while Richy and the others discuss the safe house Dan was told too maybe. As I'm not sure if the storyline will take into account any conversations that didn't involve the MC.
Thinking about it though thanks to Jake. The MC has been able to witness more than one conversation between some of the others. Now it could be possible that they didn't speak privately with each other any other time. As the game does seem to suggest that the MC would have seen those conversations too. It's a strange one indeed.
Anyways with Richy being out of the picture. If he wasn't dead. Logically he would have ALOT more freedom so do shady stuff that is if he actually is involved. I'm not sure if I would go as far as believing he is the man without a face. Though I suppose it could be possible. If he indeed isn't dead. The events at Michael Hanson's house happened after Richy supposedly got killed I believe. There was no body for the police to find after all. I forget how long after Richy supposedly got killed then Jessy and Thomas went to the Hanson house. I don't think it was that long in between. So theoretically if Richy isn't dead. He could have been at the Hanson house. To be the man without a face. To chase Jessy and Thomas.
Or there is more than one person behind this whole thing. Perhaps the man without a face isn't working alone.

Dan ❤
**SPOILER ALERT various topics from various different episodes will appear in my thoughts/overviews of each character. So if you are someone who hasn't completed up to episode 9 and waiting on the final episode. Then I suggest coming back to read all this once you have. To be on the safe side**
My order that I am doing the characters may seem abit odd but doing them as they pop into my head.
Dan is part of Hannah's group of friends as we all know. Right off the bat from the beginning this dude has been hella suspicious to me. Once or twice as the episodes progressed I thought maybe those suspicions got explained or that I may have been wrong. He is definitely the opinionated blunt joker of the group. Don't get me wrong on occasion during the episodes he has made valid points. Where his opinions do not come across as explicitly biased. Other times though you guessed it. It seems like he is 100% for sure being biased with his opinions.
He's blunt because he's always straight to the point. Clearly likes the sound of his own voice as when he goes off on one he gets really into it. The good thing about him with those is that least he doesn't beat around the bush. He doesn't really seem to care if his views don't sit well with others. Which is a good way to be. I can admire him for that. But there is just something about this dude that I can't quite put my finger on.
Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan. While he seems like a cool dude. He ALWAYS has to put his 2 cents into whats going on. Usually in the most counter productive way ever. In the form of squashing ideas because HE doesn't see them as good. As well as he's thrown so much shade over Jake and Phil, Jessy's brother.
When the MC & the group discovered that Jessy's brother, Phil had been arrested. Dan had ALOT of things to say in regards to Phil. It seemed like not just a case of he didn't like the dude. As we all know Phil isn't everyone's cup of tea. The amount he went on about Jake and Phil seemed more than a trust issue or that he simply didn't like them. As tbh the way he cracked down on the two of them. He could sound like a broken record with how he went on about it.
Now his first lot of private messages with the MC after he was added by them. That could be seen as well he's not really on board for having a stranger add him let alone talk to him. Or it could be considered suspicious. Then it didn't seem to take long for him to warm up to the MC enough to talk to them via private message as well as the group chat. Now he could have come to the conclusion that maybe the MC wasn't too bad and that talking to them via private message might not be a bad thing. Or idk maybe there was something more to it.
Onto the night that he had his accident. He got drunk at the Black Swan with expensive whiskey. After being stood up for a date by Jessy who stayed home to have a date with the MC instead. While the date with Jessy was going on Dan was messaging the MC as well. Where he told them what had happened etc. Then proceeded to get in his car after having all those whiskeys. He did this despite a warning not to by the MC. We later learn he's been in an accident and had to be admitted to hospital. Jessy went to see him at the hospital and I believe she even took a photo of him. While he was unconscious. For someone who had been in an accident he didn't actually look too bad from what I remember. Later he tries to convince the group that the accident wasn't his fault. That the amount he had drunk hadn't caused the accident. That he suspected that the man without a face or someone had messed with his car. Richy another friend of Hannah's being a mechanic was asked by Dan to take a look at the car. Which was at Roger's garage. He wanted Richy to see if there was any evidence of tampering. Which Richy later said there wasn't that the accident must have been Dan's fault due to being drunk behind the wheel.
Dan didn't take that too well. For practically everything after that he was in hospital. Though I do recall one time he updated his status to "On the road". Pretty sure that was while he was in hospital as I remember saying to myself. Why does it say on the road if he was in hospital. Not sure if that was because he was bored or if he really had left the hospital to do something. Could be remembering that wrong not sure. Later after the group decided to go to the house outside Duskwood for their own safety. Dan later joined them. With a wheelchair. Claiming that it wasn't going to hold him back and that the hospital had discharged him.
Of course it quickly became obvious that he hadn't been discharged from the hospital. What bugs me is that until Cleo another friend of Hannah's went to pick him up. Which wasn't at the hospital even more suspicious. Dan did not know the location of this safe house let's call it. Then on his first night there. The man without a face who had been texting with the MC via Hannah's phone. That they had gotten access to due to Jake and his awesome hacking skills. Said that the MC and the group had fallen straight into his trap. What doesn't feel like long after. Cleo asked the group to come inside. As they had been chilling outside listening to Thomas play on his guitar. Expecting to hear about it afterwards. The MC was going to leave them to it. Till Lilly, Hannah's sister video calls them so that they weren't excluded from what Cleo wanted to talk about.
As this scene unfolded and everyone gathered at the table. Jessy appeared to come from upstairs. Not sure if she went upstairs quick while everyone else came in then came down. Or if she had been up there for abit before hand. Who knows. Anyhow. Cleo announced she had come across a gun when she was looking for a lighter. After asking who's it was and Jessy saying its not her's. Thomas asks if it's a real one while Dan inspects it and confirms it is real. Then they hear a noise and go to investigate it. They discover Hannah's phone is ringing while it's on charge in presumably Thomas's room. It's an unknown number. The man without a face had been texting the MC with an unknown number. Sure enough when Jessy is instructed to answer it. There he is the man without a face. He says he knows where they are and that he's coming. Then the lights go out and we hear someone scream. Now I'm wondering if Dan is part of the trap. As after getting there he obviously knew the location of the safe house. Or was it a mistake on the MC's part as while going over the apps. Jake wanted them to look at the map. Which of course wouldn't let the MC look at it unless they turned on Hannah's GPS. So that's another possibility.
At the point of the phone call on Hannah's phone from the man without a face. Lilly still has the MC on video call. Thomas, Jessy and Cleo appear in the frame. Lilly is obviously behind the phone. But we don't see Dan. He may have hung back so his wheelchair didn't take up too much room. Or he could have turned out the lights. As I'm not even really sure if he needs the wheelchair. Richy, another of Hannah's friends, the mechanic. Before everything happened with him. He told the MC about his conversation with Dan about his findings regarding Dan's car. Which of course the MC already knew about thanks to Jake and his mysterious ways. But of course Richy didn't know that and proceeded to tell the MC. He also had sent over a picture of what he says was Dan's car at some point. It was badly trashed. So I cannot help but wonder if Dan was even in the car. I expected him to look alot worse when Jessy sent over the pics of him and Dan then proceeded to take some of himself from time to time while supposedly at the hospital. Well he must have been at the hospital obviously as Jessy went to visit him. I know he probably would have been cleaned up abit. But something about the accident doesn't sit right. For one surely he would have looked alot worse?. Even if he had a seat belt on. I don't have alot of experience with people being in crashes thank heavens so I don't know.
All the way through he has come across as a guy who doesn't like to be benched when stuff is going on. That he is the type of guy to get bored and impatient with being in hospital easily. But how did he leave the hospital if he wasn't discharged?. Obviously he snuck out but how. He hadn't had alot of time to adjust to being in a wheelchair. So did someone help him maybe. Also we don't know the full extent of his injuries. How bad was whatever it was that would mean he's in a wheelchair etc. Plus no idea what the health care system is like there and I'm no expert on what happens after someone has an accident if they require a wheelchair. Not sure if the hospital would have provided him with one. As if he was going to get one that wasn't a hospital one. Then I'm sure they would have helped him sort that out ready for him to go home. As I rather doubt they would have let him go home without sorting that out. So the whole wheelchair situation has me confused. Does he really need it?. Is this another sympathy grab because the accident was apparently not his fault?. Or did he genuinely want it to not be a big deal. So many questions.

Later I will post about another character. Right now though I can barely keep my eyes open. Yes I will be going through all of them. Even if no one sees these posts. It'll just be for me I don't mind.

Thomas ❤
**SPOILER ALERT various topics from various different episodes will appear in my thoughts/overviews of each character. So if you are someone who hasn't completed up to episode 9 and waiting on the final episode. Then I suggest coming back to read all this once you have. To be on the safe side**
So as we all know Thomas is the boyfriend of missing Hannah Donfort. Which we find out at the very beginning after he somehow receives a text from missing Hannah's phone . A phone that had gone missing with her. Containing only the MC's phone number. Which apparently Thomas had to memorise because shortly after receiving the message, opening it and looking at it. The message mysteriously disappeared. Like wiped from existence sort of thing.
After remembering the number he doesn't go to the police with this information. So he instead contacts the MC and invites all his friends into the chat so that they can all talk with the MC. I say talk more like an interrogation in some sense. As of course they all want to know who is this person behind the number. Does that person have Hannah? etc. Especially Hannah's sister, Lilly. Which is understandable. The group didn't know Hannah was missing or in trouble. Until a hacker who we later find out is called Jake makes contact with them.
Jake witnessed Hannah get attacked and get kidnapped. It was originally presumed that Jake had sent the MC's number to Thomas from Hannah's phone. At least I originally presumed it for definite. Trying to remember if that was mentioned. Might have been. Though in later episodes there is certain things that might suggest why that isn't possible.
When questioned about not going to the police with the MC's number and to tell them that he received the number from Hannah's phone. Thomas thought he might have looked as if he was even more of a suspect than he was in that moment. Even though I am up to date and still yet to see episode 10 like everyone else probs. I am still not sure how to feel about Thomas. There are times I am like nope he's not the bad guy and others he is extremely so suspicious that it's hard not to wonder.
When the investigation into Hannah's kidnapping uncovers a new lead in a man called Michael Hanson. Jessy & Thomas both go to Michael's house to see if he still lives there. As there is no answer at the door and the house looks abandoned they take a look around. Well most of you will know the rest. But the point I'm trying to make following on from my last statement about Thomas. He obviously was with Jessy when the man without a face comes back to the house and chases them. They escape in a car which is Thomas's I believe.
Thomas couldn't have been the man without a face as all this was witnessed on group video call. Plus obviously any other questions as to why he was acting suspiciously were answered in previous episodes. So maybe I'm wrong to be unsure of him.

Hey all!
As the description says. New Duskwood fan here. Eager to hopefully discuss all things Duskwood with other fans. So I'm Maiden. That is my online alias as well you know how the Internet can be. Better to keep certain details close to your heart.
It's a shame the app doesn't have the option to recap what we've already done. Minus the mini games obvs. Without affecting the progress. While we wait for episode 10. As being able to go back over everything would have helpful. Especially in my case as silly me didn't keep anything to go back over with fellow fans. Not like those creators who did walk throughs or blogs to discuss as and when.
So yeah late to the scene because I had been umming and arring about downloading the app for ages. I know what was I thinking right!?. Then when I download and start the game. As you know the further along you get the trickier those pesky mini games can get. Well had to spend sometime figuring those out. As I suspect many of you did too. I know right from the off there was the option spend real money on the game which could have moved things along much quicker. But hey I wanted to see how far I could get without spending money.
Probs wouldn't have ended up spending anything if it weren't for the fact I hit a snag. What I mean by that is my phone updated and when it finished for some reason I had no progress on the game. Which was strange cos I actually managed to get to decent point where the storyline was really taking off. But nope no record of that. I got to episode 7 I believe it was with Richy. Don't want to do any spoilers but the call with MC and him. You know the one I mean. So yeah got that far and was royally ticked off I couldn't continue.
Anyways I started it again and yeah ended up spending money to get to where I was quicker. As I had already spent ages trying to get to the previous point in the game. Was so eager to continue I didn't wanna go through that all again at my original pace. Would have taken ages again nope. Was worth it though. Apart from the fact that I completed episode 8 then 9 now there is a wait for episode 10 and well doesn't feel like I had been playing it for long the second time around lol.
Ah well no worries. This game is so addictive. I love everything about it. The game itself is very user friendly. That's big one for me as I have to be able to get along with how it all looks, how easy it is to use etc. Those sorts of things. The location snaps and videos provided to be the town of Duskwood/surrounding areas exquisite. Love the cast. They are ace. Not to mention they all aren't too bad looking either. Their acting isn't the greatest but hey it is for a mobile game so I think I can let them off for that. Plus I don't believe I've seen them in anything else. So that would mean they are not as well know as some actors and actresses. No idea if they'll be used again for anything else like this. But I wouldn't mind it.
Though I may have to adjust to them playing other people. But yeah can excuse the acting. Who knows if they do anything else. They might just get better at it. Plus the storyline is fantastic. So good it draws you in right from the get go. So with how good everything else is the not so good acting isn't really the primary focus. Don't know about anyone else but for me the storyline had so much going on. I didn't really have time to focus on things like the acting too much. I was completely submerged into the world of Duskwood. Obvs not that bad where it was Duskwood all day everyday nothing else. No not that bad. But when I did fit in playing the game I was hooked. No doubt about it.
As I said in the description don't really have people irl to talk to about it lol. Bless my partner he has tried listening etc and what not. But he's not interested and well can't blame him not really his thing lol.
