I do wish people would play games for themselves and decide if it works for them. No, the game isn't perfect, and certainly has some design roughness that will no doubt be ironed out in future projects and maybe expanding the team (which will also expand the budget.). I think Experiment 101 deserves a lot more credit than they've been given by critics, in my opinion. That such a good looking, fun game with quite an impressive crafting system (believe me, RPGs are incredibly difficult to design and build), developed by a very small team, is just really commendable. It really does feel like one of those enjoyable B tier games we'd get in the early to mid 2000's on the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube, and I mean that as a compliment. I know in the past year, we've gotten spoiled with some pretty fantastic games that obviously sets player expectations high, but we should know by now that not every game is going to be up to the level of 200+ person teams with insanely huge budgets. It's not even a game I was particularly hyped for, I just thought it looked interesting, but I feel like some reviews were overly harsh. The combat is still so-so, but it's hardly bad, and I'm enjoying it more now that I finally started crafting better weapons and experimenting more. After that patch, I've been enjoying the game even more, but even beyond the patch, now that I've gotten quite a few more hours into the game, it's really starting to click with me in terms of keeping me chasing that carrot (ie, there's always something I'm specifically working towards, and I don't mean just what the mission log is telling me to do, but micro-goals I set for myself).
