“The Whooping Crane in its Sacred Space” (for sale see below!) . The whooping crane is native to North America and is the most endangered of the 15 species of cranes (which is saying a lot since most cranes are endangered or threatened). This crane suffers from territory loss as many do. Only two migrating flocks exist in the wild today. I got to see this lovely rarity at the #internationalcranefoundation in Wisconsin this summer. . Raptors with in-raptor-like expressions: VULTURE Last one y’all. I was talking to somebody and somehow we got on the topic of raptors. He said the only raptor he hated was the vulture, and this is probably a shared point of view for many. So I thought, “why not try and make a vulture as alluring as possible?”. Vultures are smart, incredible birds that keep mice and fly populations down by eating the dead animals instead. Raptors with Un-raptor-like expressions: FALCON DDT ringing a very faint bell? It was the chemical farmers used in pesticides that ended up in water, then in fish, then in birds. DDT made eggs thin and when the birds sat on them, they would crack. As a result, some species were nearly driven to extinction.
