"Thank you, Miss Banks, I can only hope to make you and Marshall proud." Mako lead her down the hall with a smile that hoped after the program Pentecost would let her pilot a jaeger, though she was worried about finding a co-pilot; she never had a really close bond with anyone besides people that were practically like family to her and were not longer piloting. "I try to show Marshall that after the program I can pilot, but he doesn't seem to think so..."
Once the words left her mouth she knew that she probably shouldn't have said anything. It was just after hearing the news it made her heart break and she wanted Samantha to know that even though it had been years that she was sorry for what happened. Mako's smile disappeared and she gave her hand a small squeeze. That was also why she was nervous about piloting, what if the other died? It wasn't uncommon for the kaiju to kill one but not both of the pilots, but it was still upsetting when it happened. The effects were suppose to be extremely traumatizing. "I am so sorry, Miss Banks, we all were when we heard of the news. I shouldn't have said anything, I know that it still must be very hard for you. Mako stopped walking and faced Samantha, slowly wiping away at the tears that were falling from her cheeks.

"You will do well in the program, Mako. No doubt about that. You let Pentecost push you down so much…he and I both know you are a fighter and can do well as a pilot. He has his concerns as do I…but don’t forget to fight for yourself too, hm?" hinted Samantha with a smile, winking in Mako’s general direction and kept following Mako’s lead.
Samantha felt the bustling of the people around her racing to get their jobs done. Her face softened a little thought o the mentioning of loss…her mind racing back to the memories of Satoshi in their final moments together and the heartbreak years later. Remaining quiet for a moment, Samantha nodded with a forced smile, patting Mako’s arm as she kept walking. “Arigato, Mako-chan…I cannot say it has been easy. I lost the love of my life that day all those years ago…and all of his memories melded into mine when he died…all of his hopes, dreams, and the fear that overwhelmed him in his final moments…” trailed off Samantha, stopping in her tracks as silent tears ran down her cheeks, her head hanging a little. “Gomen…”

"Unless I can find some way for you to return to your jaeger, I am afraid that you are stuck being a human. I will help you though with whatever you may need help with. I was your pilot and now I am your friend, Gipsy." She felt sad that Gipsy didn't want to be human, but that would be like her becoming a jaeger, strange and difficult to adjust to. "You're welcome, Gipsy."
"So you've been slowly becoming more and more conscious as the years have gone by then, yes? Do not think about it too much, I was asking too many question. Would you like to go back to my room with me? It's just across the hall." Mako smiled hopefully.
She smiled faintly, gripping Mako’s hand tightly. “What if I do not want to be more human?” she murmured. She let out a little laugh. “But I do not have much of a choice, do I? My mech form is long gone and I am stuck in this body now…” She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, looked at Mako. “Thank you, Mako Mori.”
She shook her head. “Consciousness began before Knifehead,” she corrected.  She frowned slightly. “I think it was after our second kill…No. Raleigh, he dreamed about me, a lot. That was what started it, I think. And then long after they had left I was still…” Her frown deepened as she tried to think of the word. “Still conscious.”

"He does not have any real super power? No..." She tried to think of a super power. "Invisibility? Or mind reading? He built a suit...what kind of suit?" Mako took the dim sum he offered with a smile and popped it in her mouth.
" His intellect. No seriously. He’s…okay he builds a powersource and a suit, to go with it and he’s totally badass." Raleigh winks at her, offering her a dim sum as a peace offering.

"Well, it probably is more expensive in America, but here it's much cheaper." Mako rolled her eyes and changed to eat the chutoro instead of the california roll. "What's his super power?" It would be nice to watch someone else play hero, because right now most of the world was looking at them as heroes especially when neither of them really felt like heroes.
" Yes I have! S’just expensive. The American stuff is cheaper." Raleigh stole a bite of her cali roll and then took a forkful of his rice and chicken with a low hum," Yup. Tony Stark~ greatest super hero ever. I swear. " Raleigh isn’t biased at all but /c’mon/ man built his own self contained jaeger suit!

"You do not need to explain, no one can explain it." Mako squeezed Gipsy's hand that she was still holding on to. "All that matters is that you are here now and I am going to try to help you become more human." Even though she wasn't sure how she would, but she would try.
"So, your begin to consciousness began after Knifehead and then continued after I began to restore you...unbelievable." Mako smiled back at her and chuckled when she mentioned the sword. "Yeah, I really like the sword too. I guess Raleigh and I should've used that from the start."
She looked down, pushing her hair out of her face. “I do not know how to explain it,” she murmured. “I do not understand it. I do not understand how it is possible, or how it has happened. But I am here.” She smiled shakily.
She nodded slightly. “After Knifehead I…I suppose you can say that I went to sleep. I  woke up when you began to restore me.” She looked up at Mako, a bright smile on her face. “The chain sword, that became my favourite weapon.”

"Iron Man..." The movie sounded familiar but she had never actually seen the movie. She picked up one of the pieces of the california roll and popped it in her mouth. After a moment or two she just shrugged. "Raleigh, I'm beginning to think that you haven't had real sushi." Mako laughed a little before eating another one. "It isn't bad, but it can hardly be considered real sushi."
" Gonna show you at least the First Iron Man." Raleigh grins, dipping his fingers into his orange chicken. He makes a childish face at her before licking the sauce off his fingers," HEy its not that bad. Its simple, easy to eat, and pretty tasty." Raleigh chuckles softly as he relaxes a bit more, stretching out his bad leg and placing his cane by it.

It still didn't make sense, but Mako still nodded her head as if she did understand. "Gipsy...I don't know what to say. This shouldn't be possible, but here you are." When she started talking about Yancy, her former pilot, Mako couldn't help but start to frown. Mako couldn't imagine what it would be to lose Raleigh, but to actually be a jaeger and lose one of your pilots. "Yancy and Raleigh put a some kind of consciousness in you..." Her heart dropped a little that she didn't have something to do with it, as if she was jealous. "I know that the pilots have a connection with their jaeger, I just didn't think it was that strong."
She hesitated. “It was not…when you started to restore me, it…you woke me up. I do not fully understand how or why I could…sense that…but I did…” She smiled at Mako, though it faltered a little as she thought of Yancy, and she looked down. “The connection between a Jaeger and his or her pilots is strong. Strong enough to sometimes bestow a kind of consciousness on them. That is what happened with me, because of Yancy and Raleigh. I do not doubt that it has happened to Cherno Alpha too, and Crimson Typhoon, and Striker Eureka.”

"The California Roll, is this really what passes as sushi in America?" Mako raises her eyebrows but still smiles and closes the door behind him, then sat down next to him on her bed placing the plate of sushi in her lap. "You really went all out didn't you? Managed to find sushi and popcorn. What movie did you say you were going to show me again? Iron something..."
" You better love me. I think some of the Chinese crew were about to shank me with their forks getting that. I also grabbed the Cali. American, but still classic." Raleigh chuckles, folding himself slowly onto her bed. His fingers dipping into his little steam basket for his Dimsum. Eagerly nibbling on it as he muttered around it," Got the popcorn too."

Mako nodded, reassuring Gipsy that she did indeed love her. Maybe not in the conventional way, but she still loved her.  She was always told that co-pilots have a strong bond, but she never knew that the pilots and the jaeger had an almost stronger bond. "You knew that I would one day pilot you? I mean, I did not realize that you could pick up on those sort of things even when you were not being piloted." How could she forget the test run that Raleigh and she went through? She risked the lives of everyone in the shatterdome, luckily it everything ended up okay. "I never realized how strong the bond between pilot and jaeger were until now."
Gipsy frowned slightly, trying to think of how to answer her question. “Before…Before Raleigh Becket came back…before I knew he was going to be my pilot again, I…I could sense that you…you wanted to be a pilot, and the way you built me again…there was…love…in it. There was a…a knowledge…that you were going to be my pilot. I could sense that in you. That was what you wanted more than anything.” She bit her lip. “But the first neural connection with you and Raleigh Becket…it was…disconcerting for me. Because I was…accustomed…to Raleigh and Yancy.” She blinked, looking at Mako with what she hoped was a reassuring smile. “But your connection was…different…stronger, in a way.”

Mako shook her head. "I didn't do anything, as much as I would have liked to, I didn't do this." But then she couldn't help but to smile. Her jaeger. That fact alone made her smile. She reached for one of Gipsy's hands, squeezing it gently. "Really? So sensed it too then? We really are drift compatible?" As if there was any question, but she still felt the need to ask for some reason. "You are my jaeger, I would do anything for you Gipsy."
"You brought me back to…" Not life…it wasn’t really life…it was something else…”Consciousness. Long before you were my pilot. You put a part of yourself inside me long before you were my pilot.” She smiled at Mako, something akin to pride and adoration in her eyes. “No one else would have been able to be Raleigh’s copilot but you.” Her smiled faltered, a slight frown replacing it. “You have done so much for me…More than I can…be grateful for…”

While Raleigh was getting the food, Mako was just laying down relaxing, needing to fully calm down before he came back. It hadn't been too long since the closing of the breach, only a few months, but it still felt like she was acting like a child.
When she heard the sound of Raleigh's cane against her door she jumps up to open it, smiling at the sight of the sushi even if some of it was americanized, it was good enough right now. Besides there was the chutoro and that was native. "You actually found sushi."
Raleigh gets his popcorn.
The sushi…a bit harder. Its a match up between him and some of the tech crews. In the end he escapes with the token california roll and something called chutoro. It looks like pretty good tuna. So he’ll take his prize.
Dim sum and orange chicken and white rice for RAleigh and he’s beating a hasty retreat to the rooms with the plates and juice boxes he’s managed to nick from out from under others. He whacks the door to Mako’s room with his cane.

Hugs were not something Mako gave often, so when she did, you better feel pretty special. When he tacked on the 'chan' to her name, she opened her mouth to say something but decided against it. If anyone else called her that they would be getting an ear full, but it was Raleigh and it was fitting. Mako watches him hobble down to the cafeteria, smiling a little wider than she would admit to before going inside her own room to wait for Raleigh to return.
Raleigh lets his arm drop as well. He treasures each affectionate gesture he can get away with,” Not a problem Mako chan.” He darts in, kisses her forehead and hop skips off as much as a guy on a cane can. He’s grinning like a madman though, and chuckling as he heads to grab their food.
Hopefully she wouldn’t murder him.
He’s been dying to call her that.
So much.

It was like looking at a picture of Raleigh, the man in front of her looked almost exactly like her co-pilot, but it wasn't. There were still minor differences and she had been in Raleigh's mind, so she soon realized that it could only be his brother. "I was...was just coming back from working on the jaegers, Mr...?"

Of course it was just the academy and if she didn't do well there (hell, even if she did do well), there was still a chance that Stacker wouldn't let her actually pilot a jaeger. Besides, she would have to find someone she was compatible with too, which was always difficult since most of the time co-pilots were close relationships like family or married. "Yes, it seems like he is finally giving me a chance, I can only hope that I do well in the program." She smiled over at Samantha.
Once Samantha put her arm on Mako's she looked over at her to make sure the other was ready. Mako couldn't imagine being blind, it would make piloting a jaeger that much more difficult and Stacker definitely wouldn't let her. When she was given the okay, she began leading her to where she would be staying. "How have you been, Miss Baker? I am...so sorry about your loss." Mako said quietly with sadness.

A smile pulled at the corners of Samantha’s lips, giggling a little to hearing Mako sound so happy when she spoke back. Tilting her head to the side, Sam gave a soft sigh to hearing Pentecost finally giving Mako the chance to join the Jaeger pilot program. “That is good to hear, Mako-chan. Seems that Pentecost has finally loosened up a little bit to your dream, hm?” she asked with a gentle wink.
Nodding to the offer of being ushered to her room, Samantha walked up towards Mako and took her arm into hers to have the younger pupil guide her. While Samantha knew a majority of the Shatterdome, there were still a few areas she hardly touched in her visits…plus it was a nice excuse to catch up with her dear friend. “Onegai,” accepted Samantha, waiting for Mako to take the lead.

Mako couldn't help but roll her eyes as he called her his queen. "Yes, the American sushi will be fine." As he gives her a loose hug, she relaxes and hesitantly puts her arms around him in return, then after a moment or two drops her arms and looks up at him with a faint smile. "Thank you, Raleigh...for everything."
" Well my queen~ if they don’t have the good stuff will the american knock offs count?" Raleigh gives her a loose armed hug. Nothing that will hopefully set off that ‘trapped’ emotion he knows well enough. He rubs between her shoulder blades for a moment as he waits on her response.

Mako couldn't but wonder why the two hadn't met sooner, I mean she was Raleigh's sister after all, but didn't question it; she was also trying not to compare the two siblings, but that was proving to be difficult. Raleigh seemed to be more out going and cocky than his female counterpart, but that might just be due to the fact that Mako wasn't exactly the friendliest person in the shatterdome, even if she was trying to change that. She bowed her head a little bit, out of habit not sure if Jazmine would bow her head back.
As she put one of the gummy worms in her mouth, her eyebrows raised when Jazmine admitted to being a fan of her. It wasn't anything new having people say they admired you or any of the sort, but that didn't mean that Mako was used to it. She thought that she may never get used to it, because she was never one that wanted to be in the spotlight. "Well, thank you so much, that is very kind of you, Jazmine. I'm afraid that I won't live up to your expectations of me though."
Her head jerked in a nod quickly, not wanting to insult Miss Mori by implying that she was old. Jazmine just wanted to be respectful until she was told that formalities could be dropped, but thankfully they had gotten over that boulder easily enough without any feelings being hurt. She hoped that she wasn’t coming off a little too twitchy to the pilot, but this was definitely unexpected, though Jazmine knew it was bound to happen sooner or later. “It’s nice to meet you too, Mis…Mako.” She corrected quickly, giving the other woman a sheepish smile.
It would take a while to get used to, especially since she was still referring to her as Miss Mori in her thoughts.
There was a brief urge to joke, say that the gummy worms weren’t poisoned, but that seemed to be in poor taste. She barely knew Miss Mori and she didn’t want to scare her off. “You’re welcome.” A pause in her words, weight shifting from one foot to the other before she smiled. “I’m a little floored, right now.” she admitted, hunching over slightly. “I’m a very big fan. Of you, mostly. My brother isn’t that cool.”
