On the Murder of Crows. After discussing this with @winterfromtevinter, we've come up with a wonderful alternative canon result for the quest and the choices presented. The following text will be my blog's and their Illario's strict canon and will hinge on this happening. Lucanis categorizes people in three ways; family, contracts, enemies. Family is paramount. And he can't kill Illario, just as Illario couldn't directly kill Lucanis or their grandmother, and that "failing" is what is fascinating to me, but how about we spice it up a bit more? At the gathering of Crows, after dealing with Illario's fight, Lucanis is presented a verdict by the other Talons. Does he let Illario live and forfeit the seat of First Talon completely, and lose the respect of the Crows for being unable to deal with a traitor (and this bond between brother-cousins is a glaring weak point that can be exploited in the future by the various house politics) OR does he execute Illario to pacify the other Talons and maintain the rather disparate Dellamorte name? This adds another layer to the rather lacking Crow politics, and ways to show that yes, they are still cruel. Expand on future conflicts that may arise, and see how Lucanis deals with adjusting to a life where he's no longer a Crow. Lucanis, on this blog, will always spare Illario and forfeit his place amidst the Houses, even if it disappoints Catarina. Teia and Viago will be allies, but they are outnumbered against the other Talons and the general Crow disquiet about such events. And because of that, Lucanis has to babysit his stupid brother-cousin at the Lighthouse. And their companions will have to do deal with two demon-possessed assassins :')c
#IMPORTANT FOR WHEN I'M ACTIVE HERE#i think it's such an interesting choice and really feels like he's forced to do something hard then#it's a CHOICE and it's PAINFUL#not that he wants to be First Talon but it will disappoint Caterina#and the force of her disappointment is like a physical wound to these boys#are they willing to both face that?#ugh we cooked with this one kiwi

Fumble #1 with Illario was that he didn't have a floppy cavalier hat with a feather in it to hide his facial expression with. Also to look suitably fashionable. They did not do this diva justice.
