Frostfire lore dump

it's a bit of a pain to loredump without definite designs...but now i finally have them. yay! Our newcomer today is Janus the bat, a lonely bat who got stranded in the tundra.

Who/what is Venus?

Venus is a being known as a Construct, godlike beings created via the strong desire for something, and a sacrifice (if no sacrifice is available, they'll take whatever there is...some Constructs have created craters in the land itself!). There must be unity of purpose in all aspects, lest the Construct turn out unstable.

Venus was made by arctic foxes a very long time ago, who had a strong will to gain a protector. This protector was given a peregrine falcon who died in an accident, giving them some of its attributes, as well as those of the foxes. Ultimately, though, they manifested as a dragon...but not the way we see them now.

How did we get here?

Venus (Then Moss, a name they chose for themselves, as they had none prior) was a quadrupedal winged dragon who served many different groups of arctic foxes, before eventually being deemed no longer needed. Their resting place became a place of legend, eventually catching the interest of Willow, an arctic fox who lived far away from her ancestors. She made the long journey to find them - and actually succeeded!

She taught them a lot about individuality and personal joys, eventually asserting their own gender, not one decided for them by others (what we would call non-binary). They stuck together through more seasons than most tundra-dwellers, eventually becoming lovers. Unfortunately, their time together came to an untimely end, as Moss died protecting their beloved.

An offer you can't refuse

Moss awoke to a strange inferno, and an unfamiliar face. They had died, surely - and their strange captor spared no time in telling them such. Fig, the infamous serpentine Chaos Goddess, banished to the center of the world, offered them a deal: They would be resurrected with their ideal body - any features they wanted. Soft breasts! Bipedal legs! Thumbs, even! In exchange for their wings, their name, and one teensy little favor.

Fig was very charitable, see, and she needed someone to be summoned as a companion for a very lonely follower. A very lonely, devoted follower. And what better soul to send up than an adorable, fluffy dragon? So the deal was simple: A little bit of love and a little bit of service for one lonely mortal, and then they'd be free to live their life. Perhaps a bit of killing here and there. Simple!

The Fine Print

Venus was sent to a lonely frostbitten bat named Janus...but they were in for a surprise.

First, the "love" Fig spoke of was forced - it was an uncontrollable feeling they were unable to get rid of, so strong it hurt.

Second, they were suddenly tuned in to what Janus wanted...so much, in fact, their body started moving on its own.

Venus was reminded of how Fig had spoken to them before. "Don’t bore me, okay?"

finally got around to finishing up this year-old sketch! Everyone meet Fig, a Goddess whose peers banished her to the depths.

There is still yet hope for her influence to grow and for her to set herself free. She sets her sights on a newly-killed Construct, a being formed out of the fervent wishes of others…

Perhaps she could give them a new life.

hmm...it seems a bit far away from its inspiration, so maybe i'll simplify it into an OC (i wonder if i could figure out an anthro design...?) i love adding effects and whatnot, but cleaning up lineart digitally can take me some time. maybe this one will get cleaned up, but i'm not sure. i just wanted to do something for fun
