Since the beginning of human existence, communication has been key to our species’ survival. Even before languages people always found ways to communicate with each other through gestures and images. In the stone age cave paintings were used to tell stories and because of those we know have an idea of how life was like for the early man. A recent study conducted by Quentin D. Atkinson, a biologist at the University of Auckland in New Zealand, suggests two very important findings: language originated only once, and the specific place of origin may be southwestern Africa. We as a species have advanced so far with communication and technology that I can to talk to anyone located anywhere in the world with the tap of a button and that is truly incredible. Though there is a lot of controversy surrounding the effect of communication through technology has on our social skills, there is no doubt that it has seriously connected the world in a way only made possible with communication through technology.

For my photosynthesis assignment I chose instagram. When instagram first came out, it was a place for sharing pictures with the world, to inspire or communicate. Today, it is about making money. From apps to buy followers and likes to our feed flooded with sponsored ads. It’s a genius way to spread news about new businesses, rebranded businesses and organizations, but the ads simply aren't what we signed up for.
