Succession makes me nuts because all of the tragedy is preventable but also it isn't. Usually, in big epics, the tragedy is that fate is inescapable. But in Succession there are a million tiny times where someone could have chosen to treat their siblings better or their spouse better or stuck to their guns or been honest or stopped being an asshole for two minutes, and it would have completely changed the trajectory of events. But also how could they have ever done any of it differently? Who taught them they could?

roman as the child who suffered the most overt abuse at logan’s hand growing up…roman who finally seemed to be coming to a place where he might be ready to confront logan head on, who left that angry voicemail after having to knife gerri on logan’s orders and hating himself while doing it…roman being the only child who forgot to say “i love you” to logan in his dying moments…roman who could only use the language of violence and strength and lies when saying his final words to logan (“you’re going to be okay because you’re a monster")…roman being the only one who felt like he HAD to go see logan’s body…i am Feeling Things™

what did you think about the kendall/roman hug? Was it kendall completing the logan transformation and physically abusing roman or was it roman self-inflicting pain onto himself?

porque no los dos? no but literally where's that post about how it's them tearing open the father wound... like i fully thought ken was pulling him in for a hug and the realisation that he was actually pressing roman's wound to his shoulder had me watching like 😟😯

the hug, to me, is the answer to roman's "why isn't it me?" it's kendall saying: because i can do this to you. because you want me to do this to you. like !!! it's kendall hurting roman and roman saying so but still asking for more. still clinging to it. he makes no active effort to pull away. in fact, he actively grinds his head in harder. roman wants the pain and kendall wants to hurt him but it's an act of comfort, too. a sicko scene for the ages. 10/10

Logan having had one last chance to see his family all together at Connor’s wedding but deciding to skip it for a business deal is such a delicious bookend. His last day on earth! Roman and Connor still holding out their hands please dad please just come. Even after all the frustration boiled over and they’d all said their piece and held their ground it all ended right where it started. And the choice to have no shots of his face as he was dying as a representation of the truest version of Logan the children knew. A faceless man an insurmountable distance away, unresponsive to any amount of crying or cursing or pleading. The memory of the last time they were all together will be of him turning his back.
