Used to be an ATLA focused blog, now a generalized scream pit of different fandom fic word vomit. For proof I can be relatively more coherent, here's where you can find me on AO3.

I need to stop being so illiterate, I’m missing out on so many puns and wordplay because I can’t reading enough hanzi or kanji for the life of me. I could be out here having fun with radicals, but I can’t READ.

Okay, as much as I’m having all this fun scribbling down random ideas for the Raccoon Empire fic verse, I’m gonna need to start laying down guard rails so this doesn’t sprawl out into a massive decades long project in universe (and irl tbh).
Because as much as I want to talk about the evolution of food security and supply lines into the city that has to increasingly plan for interruptions from villains attacks or the encroachment of organized crime into the commercial waste industry or the fucked up state of real estate in Gotham thanks to Everything - the full scope of talking about these fictional issues drawing parallels from real life honestly takes years and years of grinding work and effort to get somewhere. Systems take years to change, hopefully for the better. It takes us years to react to developing issues, to realize there are issues, and work as community to solve those issues.
At the same time, I still want character development and character interactions to fundamentally drive this verse. So it’s not like I can toss down a pile of outsider POV one shots connected together like a conspiracy board.
Idk. Might take the trope of the Wayne’s daylight personas’ involvement in philanthropy and make that the vehicle of the verse. Like, how does that actually work, how does that interact with vigilante work, how is it improved and hurt by the unavoidable time, effort, and resources hero/vigilante work eats up - there’s a lot of inherent tension in this dynamic.

Every year I spend within the age range of rounding to 30 when you round to the nearest 10, the more and more I go, “wow, these guys running around in these stories are all really young.”

Man, looking at when some of these shows came out, I keep thinking about how different my media diet growing up would have been if my brother hadn’t staged a boycott on anything other than the Science Channel or Discovery on the TV when we were kids.
And I mean literally sprint into the room and fling his body in front of our tiny TV screen and screaming over the sound if ANY cartoons or shows that weren’t Tom and Jerry was playing.

A) reading these comics on a tablet is so much better than on the phone, I’m gonna do this from now on. the phone experience is kind of painful, for understandable reasons.
B) I’m so glad work is giving me an excuse for parallel research:

I’ve fucked up. This should have been all comic nonsense. Instead, all the leftover mania from my bnha obsession are leaking into these dc thoughts. The worldbuilding dumb shit keeps accumulating.
You can’t dangle east coast I-95 corridor chicanery in front of me, I will respond, I fucking miss the northeast.

Me: we’re just trying to have a good time here, we’re just trying to have fun, this is gonna be just good nonse—
This hell brain: what, you don’t want to talk about the horror of systemic invasions of privacy in the name of law and order via mass surveillance pulling together camera networks, social media feeds, geo data sold by data brokers, and everything else in modern life that the state is already aggregating together on all of us? really?

Like, it sucks that both Zuko and Azula Do Not Care about the real actual functioning of the armed forces and how to keep them running because they’re both never going to talk about it.
BUT I WANT TO.
On one hand, there’s canonically coinage in ATLA.
On the other hand, I’m still going to pay everyone in daily allotments of rice.

[squinting at the absolute world or universe or whatever] I still don’t understand enough due to jumping around scattershot through random comics so this is all confusing to me, but not gonna lie that Superman’s messy ass hair in this version isn’t amusing.
