If you’re seeing this, I’m probably convincing you to hire me. We could go on about my credentials or relevant work experience, but I don’t think that necessarily gives you a clear picture of who you’re going to work with.

I think the best working relationships are between people who understand each other well-- or at least somewhat familiar with the other’s motivations, strengths, weaknesses, aspirations, and fears.

WHO ARE YOU, EXACTLY?

My name is F. Maria Regalado-- Maria for short.

I've been writing for over a decade in freelance, client-side, and agency-based settings-- building a wealth of experience along the way. This means I'll take almost anything you could throw at me. Whether it's bog standard web copy, cerebral longform, or a blow-by-blow account of a big event, you could trust me with what you need to say.

I’m 34 years old and graduated from Ateneo de Davao University with a degree in psychology. I’m currently in graduate school for a master’s degree in development communications from the University of the Philippines. Nerd stuff, basically.

As far as interests go, I’m generally drawn to the social sciences. Practically anything to do with cultural studies gets me going. Music, art, and literature are also huge sources of inspiration, having spent over half my life in the independent music scene.

HOW DO YOU WORK, THOUGH?

Team Dynamics

I tend to prefer minimal supervision, but with regular alignment sessions to make sure I’m hitting all the bases. I definitely value my independence, but also think it’s important to not alienate myself from the rest of the team. I’m a tad introverted by nature, but compensate by being incredibly easy to talk to.

Things I Like

Tasks like web copy, blogs, and landing pages are particularly engaging to me. Whether it’s structuring the site itself, or writing copy and cornerstone content, there’s this real satisfaction in the thought of building towards something bigger. Having a solid foundation to work with means I could better explore creative possibilities.

SENIOR COPYWRITER Scalewind Inc. (2020) Scalewind is an outsourcing network based in Las Vegas, Nevada. I mostly worked on website copy, blogs and landing pages for a diverse range of overseas clients. During my time, I serviced everyone from print merchandising companies, to medical supply stores, and motivational speakers.

It’s also worth noting that I was laid off due to COVID’s effects on the economy. Shame, I really liked working there!

FREELANCE WRITER Self-Employed (2017-Present)

I've been writing freelance for a number of client side and agency-based projects. Most of it was advertising copy and content direction, but I do get some pretty diverse jobs from time to time. Some of my clients include vape manufacturers, medical cannabis dispensaries, major telecommunication networks, and a number of local feature films.

CONTENT MARKETING SPECIALIST Yondu Inc. (2018) Yondu is a BGC-based tech company that’s co-owned by Globe Telecom and start-up powerhouse Xurpas. I handled content and other text-based assets for their entire online footprint. This mostly encompassed website content, blogs, social media posts, and editorial calendars on top of some minor analytics work. --

COPYWRITER Perk Communications (2017-2018) I crafted copy for print ads, social media posts, radio commercials, and other written assets for accounts like Starbucks, Vision Express, Yakult, and Ayala Land among others.

CONTENT DEVELOPMENT MANAGER Karton.ph (2016-2017) Karton is a fairly new e-commerce startup, and my job encompassed the overall management of our brand voice, external communications and occasional vendor management, the editorial process, minor art direction, and the maintenance of their digital assets (website and social media presence).

CONTENT SPECIALIST M2.0 Communications (2015-2016) I wrote and edited various forms of content for PR, content marketing, and social media that include (but are not limited to) press releases, blog posts, social media posts, EDMs, and web content. My post required a keen eye for things like tone, flow, and pacing among other things. It was my responsibility to ensure that our clients are given the best and most truthful content possible with the resources at our disposal.

SOCIAL MEDIA SPECIALIST Globe Telecom (2013-2015) Apart from making sure that we had an ample supply of quality content for our various digital channels, I took on the additional responsibility of engaging any concerns that may arrive through social media. I was a crucial link that ensured that the end experience of each client was smooth and ultimately worthwhile. I also handled the creation of advertisements, EDMs, and digital content for both internal and external clients.

ONLINE MANAGER Heima Home and Lifestyle (2013) I used to oversee every online transaction made through the Heima Online store. The company website was also under my control, subject to periodic maintenance and review.

WEB COPYWRITER US Autoparts (2012) I used to write marketing copy and online assets for several affiliate websites under the greater US Auto Parts network.

TECHNICAL STAFF Quezon City Hall (2011-2012) I used to do press releases and graphic design for the office of Mayor Herbert Bautista. I also helped with events and coordination between different offices within Quezon City Hall.
