“You may write me down in history with your bitter, twisted lies. You may trod me in the very dirt but still, like dust, I’ll rise. You may shoot me with your words, you may cut me with your eyes, you make kill me with your hatefulness, but still, like air, I’ll rise.”

“She is the brightest star on the darkest night because she understands how it feels to be lost She is the mountain that offers support and shelter because she understands what it means to be a survivor But she is also the ocean, pulling her waves back into herself as she rests between breaths- And she hopes that the world understands that even the sun must set to be able to rise.”

I once had a garden filled with flowers that grew only on dark thoughts but they need constant attention & one day I decided I had better things to do.

There’s this great quote floating around the social media sphere.** It goes something like this: “Instead of, ‘Have a nice day,’ I think I’ll start saying, ‘Have the day you deserve.’ You know, let karma sort that sh*t out.” I don’t know who said it, but I feel this sentiment deeply in my soul. As a woman, society has taught me that I need to smile, to be attractive, to be the peacekeeper, to follow the lead of others, and to always be polite. I’ve been taught that my relationship to others is what defines me. And I should always strive to put others before myself. – you know, to not be selfish. Pfft! I’m so incredibly over this line of thinking. Instead of putting ourselves last and defining ourselves only by our relationship to others, I think we should be practicing self-care and authenticity. And instead of falling into that good girl trap of having to lead with a smile and be polite even in the face of harassment and disrespect, I think it’s important that we have healthy boundaries and assertive communication. Why is it more important for others to like us or approve of us than to get what we want and need? Why have we put priority and value on everyone else over ourselves? We need to let go of the idea that what anyone else thinks of us is our business. It doesn’t matter. When we aren’t trying to please anyone else, we can make choices that are deeply authentic rather than obligatory. – Crystal Jackson #ElephantJournal #BeAuthentic #BeTrueToYourself #FuckTheRest #Karma #BeYou #Self #Respect

Intensity.
You seem like someone who would be incredible to be loved by. I know because I’ve seen you love others. The comfort of your love is palpable. The ferocity. The intensity. I also love like that, but I’ve never seen it from the outside before. I can finally see why people find it intimidating. Where can anyone else fit amongst that smile. The close-gated community you toured me through. Our time lit by the bright light of the No Vacancy sign. But God, I saw it. I saw a smile colonise an entire being at the mention of a mate. a pacifist reciting nuclear codes just in case he needs to defend. Someone who wouldn’t let me be a friend Love his friends With the exact intensity that would match me.

Faith
I want to be loved.
Nay, to be adored. To slay them with words something far beyond the physical have them lay their beating heart at my feet for me to dispose of as I wish
I want far more than flowers - their sacrifice is too commonplace
I want far more than emotion - they are too evanescent
I want far more than words - I am far too familiar with lies
I want far more than body - pleasure is far too shallow a language
I want to see the feverish gleam in the eye that single-mindedness of passion that can only be when I’m walking around freely in their head
have them lay their beating heart at my feet for me to dispose of as I wish
the feverish gleam in the eye but trembling lips smiling, at peace because they know me too well and finally gave me the thing I wanted most

It’s the same old story, time and time again, That boy, he doesn’t love you Maybe he will in a few days, or a week, or a month, Or maybe he’ll start to take you feelings for granted, and go straight into the arms of another woman, Either way, right now, he doesn’t love you, But here’s the thing: I love you And I won’t ever take your feelings for granted, so believe me when I give you this advice, Turn away from this boy and do not ever look back

lonely women can be large and messy in beds that do not miss the ones who left, women who relish space, who hold it against their chests, who remember themselves as something other than someone else’s miracle, women who see God in her fingers, the middle one raised to the sky
