Christmas in new normal
The Christmas season begins when the months of ber enters in the calendar of the year, which is September, October, November, and December which we usually celebrate the Christmas. It's one of the cultures and practices we have never missed out on. Typically, when we feel the Christmas presence, we do the Simbang gabi, the carolings, enjoy native foods after church and decorate our homes with Christmas items but Now we're dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, and for many of us, this pandemic is changing holiday traditions, we can no longer freely go to malls, we need to wear mask, face shield, and we need to go in a few number of people, they say it's new normal, everything has limits ,we cannot have big gatherings just like before, and we cannot stay outside long, particularly children who are also vulnerable to Covid-19.
Despite of having Covid-19, Filipino citizens won’t forget the essence of Christmas mostly the Christians, people now a days, they still do the practices that we normally do when Christmas season was coming and it feels great to see that they still displaying or decorating their homes of colorful lanterns and Christmas lights. Many of us, we still put Christmas trees inside of our home and putting some accessories to make it colorful, now we can no longer hear the song of every children when they do carolings and we’re going to give money, maybe there are some but it is not like before. Sometimes most seniors go to Super Market to buy foods such as hams, cheese and fruit for Fruit Salad as well, but most of these seniors are not safe after entering the mall or the supermarket due to virus that can easily spread and worse, most of the cases of this Covid-19 have no symptoms, which is why, it is not safe for public places where several people go, we always need limitations and must follow the restrictions. It is sad to know that we’re not able to go church with friends or love ones or in other places to spent time with them, according to the Health Management we need to stay at home where it is the lower risk area where the virus can spread unless  you have a family member that are expose to people.
The true essence of Christmas, was giving love and forgiving to others and also It is Jesus Birthday it was the main things we need to remember, even this Covid-19 pandemic won't stop us from rejoicing in Jesus birthday, it’s not about dressy house, material things nor gifts that you will receive, we can still celebrate it in a small gathering or in circle of family, we can still sing Christmas songs in our homes and we can still pray in our house. It's true that it was very upsetting to ruin our holiday plans with this new normal, but we have to understand that if when we were going to celebrate Christmas in the hospital instead in our home, it was even more disturbing. Without family or travel during Christmas season was hard to believe in Thanksgiving and the winter holidays, but in the midst of an ongoing pandemic, it's even more scary to think about keeping on it as ordinary we must still sensitive about this virus.
