Mark Rosenzweig is the founder of SharkNinja, a position he has held since 1994. SharkNinja is a pioneer in innovative cleaning solutions and small household appliances.
Mark was born in Montreal, Canada, to a family that has been in business for a hundred years. This third-generation businessman turned out to be a natural-born tinkerer. He became an innovator, a disruptor, an inventor, a creator, and an entrepreneur.
In 1991 Mark graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School.
Following graduation, Mark moved to Los Angeles to work in the entertainment industry including positions at Sony International Television and UTA.
In 1994 Mark returned home and joined his Canadian family’s sewing business, Jolson Corp, as a sales manager. Jolson Corp. was founded in 1954 in Montreal by Mark’s grandfather and grandmother, Benjamin and Miriam Jolson, who sold domestic sewing machines through a Canadian dealer network. In the late 1970s, Mark’s mother and father expanded that household sewing machine business to include industrial sewing machines that they sold to the Canadian apparel manufacturing industry.
Mark had a passion for innovative small appliances and was looking for opportunities to create his own entrepreneurial venture that could manufacture and sell products throughout Canada and the United States under his own new brand name that he could control and build loyalty for.
Mark kept tinkering with appliances, inventing revolutionary appliances at home which were designed to replace the same cheap sweepers and steamers that really hadn’t changed much since they were invented.
He wanted to actually disinfect with cleansing steam instead of relying on toxic chemicals. Mark’s thoughts were that after a proper cleaning, a baby should safely be able to play on the kitchen floor, free from toxins. This belief drove him to create revolutionary solutions that were both extremely effective and built to last.
With help from his parents, Max and Aviva, he founded Euro-Pro, a company whose goal was to create innovative and exciting products consumers would love and talk about. The first products sold were under the Euro-Pro brand and included domestic ironing systems made in Italy and then quickly followed by steam presses, domestic sewing machines, and food processors. Sales for the first full fiscal year of Euro-Pro (1996) reached almost $1 million dollars.
Euro-Pro North America then expanded to include vacuum cleaners sold under the “Shark” brand as well as heated kitchen appliances using unique high-performance blending blades under the Euro-Pro and Bravetti brands.
Euro-Pro’s products developed a large audience and acceptance through a powerful media and infomercial strategy Mark innovated. High-quality products were sold to retail partners at the same time they appeared on national television infomercials and shopping networks. Mark was the host telling the brand and product stories.
By fiscal 2000, sales reached $100 million dollars and then $250 million by fiscal 2003.
Between 2003 and 2006, Mark’s brother, Stanley Rosenzweig, Harvard MBA, 1991, who had significant experience with larger multinational companies that marketed and manufactured small appliances under proprietary brand names, joined him at Euro-Pro with the goal of helping Mark move the business from Montreal to Boston and to assist restructuring and bringing it to the next level of success.
Inventors and entrepreneurs have vocations fueled by passion. Many would have done it for free or as a hobby if it hadn’t become a profession. Mark Rosenzweig is a natural creator, driven by his passion. This fuel has led Mark to develop his ideas into viable products and innovations that he has been patenting since 2003. Patent 7303613 was an innovative filter sensor and indicator for vacuum cleaners, patent 7500427 is a basket for deep fryer and methods of cooking food products, and patent 7341611 is a compact cyclonic bagless vacuum cleaner. Sometimes independently and often as part of creative teams, Mark has patented dozens of innovative inventions between 2003 and 2017.
In 2007, with his father Max’s help, the very successful line of Shark steam mops was developed as well as a “no loss of suction” vacuum technology, propelling Euro-Pro gross sales to reach over $400 million US dollars by the end of fiscal 2009. Mark’s good friend, and new partner, Mark Barrocas, a very successful veteran executive at private equity-backed companies, joined Euro-Pro in fiscal 2009 as President.
Together, “Mark and Mark” successfully focused on innovative product development and high-quality manufacturing, adding Ninja kitchen appliances and a full line of vacuum cleaners, eventually reaching gross sales of over half a billion US dollars in the fiscal year 2010 and $1 billion in the fiscal year 2013.
By the end of 2017, SharkNinja employed over 1,000 associates, added robotic vacuums and heated ninja appliances, and reached sales of almost $2 billion.
Outside of his professional work, Mark enjoys supporting various philanthropic organizations and is specifically interested in assisting new medical research at Mass General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and with the American Heart Association. Mark stays active with biking, skiing, tennis, and currently resides in the Boston area and loves to spend time with family.

SharkNinja has launched a new coffee machine under its Ninja brand which is able to create a variety of hot and cold drinks, including cold brew coffee in ten minutes.
Called the Ninja Hot & Cold Brewed System, the product features automated brewing technology which “knows the precise temperatures, correct bloom times, and proper levels of saturation” for each beverage combination.
The product allows users to create iced coffee and tea, frothy speciality drinks and rich-strength brews. Five tea types are available: herbal, black, oolong, white and green.
SharkNinja said that while other cold brew machines on the market require up to 24 hours for steeping, its new brewer uses a lower-temperature brewing process to create “a smooth, naturally sweet cold brew beverage in as little as ten minutes”.
Mark Rosenzweig, CEO of SharkNinja, said: “Coffeehouses are known for having an endless selection, but current at-home brewers haven’t given users the vast variety of choice we thought possible, and certainly not all in one product.”
“The Ninja Hot & Cold Brewed System changes the category entirely. This innovative system is more than just a machine you use in the morning, it’s your all-day brewing partner. Ninja is setting the new standard for what premium coffee and tea enthusiasts should own.”
The Ninja Hot & Cold Brewed System is now available in the US for $229.99.

According to Mark Rosenzweig, CEO of SharkNinja. “The Ninja Hot & Cold Brewed System changes the category entirely. This innovative system is more than just a machine you use in the morning; it’s your all-day brewing partner.” Instead of being that push and brew system, this kitchen essential allows for customization in both drink style and size. The variety that this machine produces will surely keep beverage boredom at bay.

Nick Wachsmann was showing off his household appliances the other day.
He unfolded his vacuum cleaner. He demonstrated how it can bend and go under furniture. He took it apart, turning it into a handheld vacuum. He took out a little brush on the bottom, showing how it removes hair and string from the roller.
He then stood by his new food processor. He pointed to the area that makes salsa, the one that swirls ice cream. "This! This is a spiralizer. You can make spaghetti," he said.
"You know what this is for?" he said, taking out a plastic piece from one of the compartments. "This is to push your vegetables down."
Nick's enthusiasm was undeniable. He loves cleaning and kitchen equipment. He likes to clean.
He's 15 years old.
So when Nick got a chance to have a "wish" recently from the Make-A-Wish Foundation, he knew exactly what he wanted to do.
The teen chose to visit SharkNinja, his favorite maker of cleaning and cooking gear.
"I just had that in my mind," said Nick, who has cystic fibrosis, a genetic condition that causes mucus to build up in the lungs and digestive system. "All my neighbors said Disney World."
"It was our first," Stacey Nee, of Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island, said of the visit to SharkNinja. "That is always a ton of fun: to get creative and think about what the wish might look like."
Nick's wish came true on May 9, when he was greeted at the entrance to SharkNinja's headquarters in Needham, Massachusetts, by the company's employees, including the CEO.
He then got the experience how his favorite vacuum cleaner gets made, visiting the industrial design, engineering and quality control departments. He deconstructed a vacuum and then put it back together. SharkNinja gave him a lab coat with his name on it.
He made an infomercial with the company's CEO, Mark Rosenzweig. Nick even got to customize his own vacuum (he picked red, green, blue and black).

"They had a big cake for me," he said. "It was really good."
"They were really detailed and generous," said his mom, Jayne Wachsmann. "I'm so impressed with that company. They were so respectful. I was just amazed. What a day it was."
Nick called it the "best day ever."
"It's external validation that you work so hard every day on these minute details, thousands of pieces that go into a vacuum, and to have that kind of love reinforced ... it was so validating and it gave everybody definitely an extra jump in their step and we're still feeling that now," said Suzanne Ayoub, brand manager at SharkNinja.
A couple of weeks after Nick got back from Massachusetts, seven large packages arrived in the mail. "I was so excited," he said. They contained two vacuums, a steam cleaner and the food processor.
Nick, who is homeschooled and going into the ninth grade, first became interested in SharkNinja after seeing one of its 30-minute infomercials on TV a couple of years back.
"It was so easy," he said of the Shark vacuum. "It's not complicated. And I liked how it moved and stuff."
From the age of 6, Nick would help his family fold the laundry. He did it "better than anyone in the house," his mom said. Then he got into outside chores. Now he has his own business, landscaping and snow-shoveling for nine houses in the neighborhood. Jayne said her son is outside "from dawn to dusk and just comes in to eat."
He reinvests the money he makes back into his operation, buying new tools. He quoted the price of a power washer he has his eye on: $119. He likes planting gardens, cleaning deck chairs, building sheds.
His mom said he appreciates tools that "work really well." That's why, he said, he is a fan of Shark vacuums. He's especially fond of their DuoClean technology that cleans carpets and kitchen floors without having to change settings.
SharkNinja might want to think about hiring Nick as a pitchman. He has not only made his mom a SharkNinja loyalist, but he has inspired his grandma and several neighbors to buy the vacuums as well.
"I just love everything about this thing," Jayne Wachsmann said. "I've never gotten attached to a vacuum before. It doesn't spit stuff out the back end when I'm in the kitchen on the tile."
"It picks up more," Nick said, wearing a SharkNinja T-shirt. "It's not noisy. I can vacuum in the morning and not wake anybody up."

Shark brand belongs to the family-run Euro-Pro company, whose history is more than 100 years. Euro-Pro was founded in Europe for the manufacture and sale of sewing machines. Then its owners moved to Canada, where they continued this business. Store opening in Boston served as the reason for moving to USA. Subsequently, the head of the company and heir of the family Mark Rosenzweig expanded this business to the level of a business empire.
The company’s prosperity was based on kitchen appliances and vacuums under the Ninja and Shark brands that are now popular all over the world.
In 2015, the company’s management decided to combine these two brands. July 22, 2015, it was announced the renaming of Euro-Pro Operating LLC in SharkNinja Operating LLC.
Probably, many have already seen the new logo of this company.
Thus, SharkNinja, Ninja and Shark brands are now trademarks of SharkNinja Operating LLC.
SharkNinja is one of the innovative leaders in the production vacuums, various small kitchen appliances and steam cleaning technologies. For example, the Professional Steam Pocket Mops series is well known to many consumers.

Shark is one of two brands that are owned by its parent company, SharkNinja. SharkNinja was also born in 1995 and is headed by the current CEO of SharkNinja, Mark Rosenzweig, and the President, Mark Barrocas.
The company rebranded in 2015 from Euro-Pro, in a bid to capitalize on the awareness, consumer trust and success of each brand to establish one unified identity.
SharkNinja also owns Ninja, a company that produces cutting-edge kitchen gadgets such as coffee machines, slow cookers, and blenders.
SharkNinja’s growth and popularity have soared in recent years. They have been recognized for five of the last six years as one of Inc. Magazine’s 5,000 fastest-growing companies in America, and this trend doesn’t look like stopping anytime soon.

SharkNinja, an innovative leader in the housewares industry, is proud to announce its collaboration with coffee connoisseur and Emmy-nominated actress, Sofia Vergara, and unveil the Ninja® brand’s new coffee machine, the Ninja Coffee Bar™ brewer. It features revolutionary Thermal Flavor Extraction™ technology, which delivers a variety of sizes and styles while achieving the perfect brew richness level every time. Ninja has completely reinvented the traditional drip coffee maker by designing a machine that unlocks coffee grounds’ full flavor potential and provides smooth, rich and well-balanced hot and cold coffee and specialty drinks.
A native Colombian, Sofia is a passionate coffee lover. So, when SharkNinja CEO, Mark Rosenzweig, invited Sofia into the development process for the groundbreaking new Ninja Coffee Bar, she jumped at the opportunity to help develop a coffee machine that would enable her to enjoy the full flavor potential of coffee.
With its Auto-iQ™ One Touch Intelligence Technology, the Ninja Coffee Bar delivers customizable options for smooth, rich coffee in a cup, travel mug or carafe. “When Mark told me about their plans to create the Ninja Coffee Bar, I knew I had to get involved from both a personal and business perspective,” said Vergara. “This is the best coffee I have ever made on my own and the best coffee machine I have ever used.”
According to Luis Balaguer, CEO of Latin World Entertainment, “SharkNinja is a company known for innovation, market dominance, and customer satisfaction. They truly share Sofia's passion for both coffee and creating products that enhance the lives of their customers. A perfect partner for the Sofia Vergara lifestyle brand."
The Ninja Coffee Bar also makes refreshing iced coffee by allowing users to dial up the richness of their coffee to offset the dilution caused by melting ice. By dialing up the richness even further, the consumer can make both hot and cold specialty coffee drinks traditionally served only in coffeehouses. Vergara continued, “I never even thought it was possible to make a great iced coffee at home! Why go out and spend a lot of money when you can make amazing coffee drinks in your own home? I’m thrilled to be collaborating with SharkNinja to bring delicious coffee and specialty drinks to kitchen countertops all over America.”
“Offering Classic Brew, Rich Brew, Over Ice Brew and Specialty Brew, The Ninja Coffee Bar will not only transform the coffee industry, we believe the new technology we’ve developed together will truly change the way consumers make—and drink—their coffee,” said Rosenzweig. “The Ninja Coffee Bar will help coffee lovers create delicious, rich, smooth coffee, iced coffee and coffeehouse-style specialty drinks to enjoy at home and on the go.”

CDH Fund V, L.P., a private equity fund managed by CDH Investments, entered into a definitive agreement in July 2017 to purchase a significant equity interest in SharkNinja, a pioneer and market leader in producing highly-innovative household cleaning and kitchen small appliances. The partnership is designed to propel the growth of the SharkNinja brands and its portfolio of products internationally.
Founder, chief executive officer, and executive chairman of the board, Mark Rosenzweig, and Mark Barrocas, president, will maintain their existing roles operating SharkNinja with the current leadership team. The transaction will bring together the complementary strengths of the strategic partners to further reinforce SharkNinja’s global competitive edge. The company’s existing international expansion strategy will be enhanced by increased attention and resources to introduce innovative products to the homes throughout the world, with special emphasis on Asia.
“We are thrilled to become a shareholder and join SharkNinja’s top-notch management supported by an excellent team to further drive its impressive track record of growth,” said Max Hui, managing director at CDH. “We are committed to working closely with existing shareholders and management to maintain SharkNinja’s operations, team and management to sustain its strong momentum in existing markets and look forward to support SharkNinja’s expansion strategies to enhance its global leadership in the small home appliance sector.”
