6 years of precious friendship

Q: Super Junior has debuted for 6 years, there must have been many valuable memories!

Siwon: Yes, I still remember when Kyuhyun first joined, he wasn’t familiar with anybody, but Sungmin had his back from the very beginning. Their relationship was really like brothers, their friendship has only increased through all these years, like they could be friends for a lifetime, and they would cheer each other on outside of performances, we are always touched when we see them!

Donghae: That’s right! The deepest impression is still everybody’s friendship. Siwon really loved Kibum, this adorable dongsaeng. Kibum didn’t have many words, but once he sees Siwon he naturally opens up completely, they are really like brothers! Actually Siwon’s personality is very reliable. With him here, everybody is very relieved. This time filming in Taiwan, I feel that way tooo.

Siwon: Unknowingly, Super Junior have been together for 6 years, we really have to thank everybody, I hope we are together for an even longer time from now on, and experience sadness and happiness together.

Donghae: I also want to say to our fans, it’s been 6 years! I love you and I love you and I love you more!

Omg am I writing a thing for Tumblr? Yes I am but it will be sadly shorter than my meta of old. Maybe I'll write one of my huge posts after I see FS2. Probably a post mortem on my overall Makoto arc feels.

Anyway, we're here to talk MakoRin!

I realized I never really discussed the MakoRin moment in FS1. I know I've been kinda soured on MR and MHR post-DF. But I actually did really like this moment because it wasn't Rin helping Makoto, it was the other way around this time. And that was important.

It was a great callback to the awesome scene in ES where Rin wants to check on Makoto and see if he's decided on his future. I always loved that because I always loved how much Rin pushes Makoto to think more about himself and his own path. Not just about Haru.

This aspect was actually handled really well in FS1, where Makoto tells Rin that he's less shy because of knowing him and that Rin has helped him grow. And it's just such great validation of a friendship that once meant so much to me in the days of Utsumi's Free.

But even more than that, I really like that Makoto sought Rin out because he knew he was upset. And that Rin calls him on it, saying he used his intuition. It's really cute and shows they BOTH think about each other, beyond Haru. They have their own friendship too. ;;

I really liked that Makoto straight up tells Rin he's worried about him. Which gets the cutest "thanks" from Rin. Again, I just like them having a reciprocal relationship instead of Rin always having to do everything. That has long been my MakoRin complaint.

That Rin cares more about Makoto than Makoto cares about him. So I'm really happy this movie FINALLY showed that Makoto cares just as much about Rin. ;; I also liked Rin telling Makoto how much he means to him too. "I'm also really glad you were there back then, Makoto."

I like that Rin talks about Makoto supporting him in his own way too. (I would argue I would have liked to have *SEEN* more of this, but it's nice to know it was there.) It's just great to see them talk on this level with one another again.

It helps erase the gross taste DF gave me, when it implied that Makoto was jealous of RH. I hated that so much. So this casual friendly heart-to-heart was really good for my long buried (but still there) MakoRin feels.

And as always Rin still uses his chance to buck Makoto up, saying Makoto's kids would be lucky to have Makoto as a teacher. Just daww.

Of course you also have the classic Rin feeling comfortable with sharing his future plans with Makoto, a callback to Makoto doing the same with him in ES. You know, I love callbacks. So yeah FS1 was great payoff for this nuanced and often forgotten friendship.

It's short and we don't really get much else from them, but it was VERY SATISFYING and I look forward to maybe more of them in FS2. Thank you, FS1, for making me believe in MakoRin again. ;;b

There's a beat of stunned silence that follows, with Makoto caught off guard by the other's sudden proclamation.

He had managed to convince Rin to tag along to the aquarium with him with the excuse that he wanted to show him the new 'dog shark' on display, but honestly he had just wanted a reason to spend time with him after being apart for so long. Makoto never let his feelings for the redhead be known, for fear he'd be rejected and cause the ruin of their friendship. After all, it had only been three years or so since they all reconciled and managed to rekindle their relationship; he couldn't risk ruining it all so soon. Especially with the distance they all had to handle, what with Rin training all the way in Australia and rarely getting a chance to visit.

At this point, Makoto had resigned himself to wallowing in his feelings one-sidedly as long as he needed to, sure to never let anything get in the way of their group's harmony. That's how he'd always been -- willing to give up his own happiness and comfort for the sake of others. Yet he couldn't help but feel some tension whenever the two met privately.

Makoto could've sworn the rising tension was something only he could feel, that he had been doing a great job at hiding and holding back his feelings as much as possible. But now, he was no longer so sure.

Honestly, he'd imagined such a scenario over and over in his head before, thinking of how he'd act, how his mind would be racing, how he'd deny the other or become a blubbering mess as he tended to do... Yet in this moment, his mind was oddly at peace, blank; his heart was louder than ever yet amazingly steady at the same time.

In this quiet, dark, and empty part of the aquarium as the fish swam peacefully around them, it's as if everything just sort of fell into place.

Without a word, the brunet cupped Rin's face between his hands, brushing past a few of those soft, red locks ever so slightly. He paused for a moment, just barely a moment, and before the other had a chance to change his mind he closed the distance between them into a kiss.

A kiss that he hoped conveyed every thought, every emotion, every desire that he had been holding back all this time. A kiss that, at least to him, felt just so very magical. A kiss that felt like a dream come true. A kiss that he wished he could never wake up from if it truly was a dream.

Oh, those lips were softer and lovelier than he had ever imagined...

                              Makoto: Uh, hey, Rin.                               Rin: Is that you, Makoto?                               Makoto: Yeah, hello.
