Blog 05: Application of Principles of Design
Tumblr media
How I come up with my infographic output:
1. Open Google > Search for CANVA.COM
Tumblr media
2. Inside Canva, input “Infographic” on the Canva Search Box,
Tumblr media
3. Choose and click a template from various designs.
Tumblr media
4. Edit the template;
a. I personally clicked the “elements” on the left portion of the screen and picked stickers which I used above.
b. I changed the background color from red to brown by clicking “background” on the lower left portion of the screen.
Tumblr media
5. After being satisfied with my work, I clicked the “^” button on the upper right and pressed “download” setting the file type in PNG.
Tumblr media
That’s it! And finally I’m done creating my own output! Now, what were the principles designs that I applied in making the ouput?
The principle designs that I used in my infographic output:
1. Emphasis -  Every graphic design must have an emphasis to show to the viewers what is the most essential information inside the template. As for me, my emphasis is focused on “why choose BS Psychology” which gives the viewers the idea that my template is all about promoting my course.
2. Repetition - Another principle for a graphic design to be eye-catching is the “repetition” or the amount of patterns in the template. As for me, I highlight words into bold for people to understand that this specific thing is followed by a description which makes them the “introductory” titles.
3. Balance and Alignment - used to make your template easier to read and also could attract more viewers. As for me, my design is all based vertically in the middle. I chose to keep it simple and descriptive just to give viewers “cues” about the course that they will be in to.

Blog 04: Google Form
Ever watched Astro Boy, Dragon Ball, Slam Dunk, Cardcaptor Sakura and Sailor Moon?
If YES, then Congrats! You are a certified Senior Otaku!
If NO, but is familiar with Demon Slayer, Attack On Titan and Tokyo Ghoul, well you are way too far from the originals.
Anime in today’s generation is CLEARLY and MOSTLY not for children under 10 years old unlike the anime showed in the main media before. But what makes anime so popular in this GEN X Era? Why do people love watching Anime?
I have conducted a survey using Google Form for Zamboanguenos aged 17 to 26 years old about their “Top 5 Anime” and their results vary from one another. 30 people who responded on the survey were people I already know from Facebook who are at the same time, die-hard anime fans.I simply chatted and asked them if they would like to participate with the survey. As they agreed, I shared the link to my survey.
They even placed an emphasis that they were challenged to answer the survey because there are way too much Anime series that they want to include. Most respondents were 21 years old who spend their free days fangirling/fanboying over japanese cartoons. The youngest was 17, nicknamed “Micky” while the oldest was 26, “JR”.
On the question; “Why do you like watching Anime?” Most of the respondents answered; “Anime is a stress reliever”, “It takes me away from reality”, “It’s way more better than real life people.”
This made me think that these respondents are just too tired on the demands of reality that Anime became an outlet for them to release and forget their problems. *shrugs*
So! What are the TOP 5 Anime gathered from them?
Starting from the 5th list, we have:
TOP 5: ATTACK ON TITAN / SHINGEKI NO KYOJIN
Tumblr media
This anime series is one of the BEST series and popular in today’s fandom. The story is all about the soldiers or known as “Survery Corps” defending their city (with 3 walls) from the breach of giant humans called “Titans”. These so-called titans feast on every citizen that they see wandering around them. However, plot twist says that these titans are not titans of their own. They are actually, humans that transforms themselves into titans.... Want to know more? READ THE MANGA!
TOP 4: HAIKYUU!
Tumblr media
It is a story about Shoyo Hinata, an aspiring volleyball player.  Though inexperienced, Hinata is athletic and has an impressive vertical jump; he joins his school's volleyball club – only to find he is its sole member, forcing him to spend the next two years trying to convince other students to help him practice. A story of intense game and motivation.
4B. Another anime aligned with TOP 4 is KUROSHITSUJI / BLACK BUTLER
Tumblr media
Personally one of my favorite anime, It is a story about a young earl named Ciel and his deal with the devil named Sebastian. Sebastian does everything and anything that Ciel wants and when the contract ends, he is intended to have Ciel’s soul towards the dark hallways of the abyss. An interesting and very cool story.
TOP 3: Seems like we have a problem.. We have 4 anime series that has the same amount of votes for the TOP 3 anime.....
3A. ONE PUNCH MAN
Tumblr media
A quite interesting story of a superhero named “SAITAMA” who is overly, very, monstrously powerful because he can literally wipe out a whole city in one punch. The dilemma is, he’s trying to look for a worthy opponent that could out-strength his abilities. Will that be you?
3B. FAIRY TAIL
Tumblr media
The story follows the adventures of Natsu Dragneel, a member of the popular wizard guil “Fairy Tail”, as he searches the fictional world of Earth-land for the dragon Igneel. It was most popular when I was in Junior High School. Fairy Tail Merch was everywhere!
3C. FOOD WARS; SHOKUGEKI NO SOMA!
Tumblr media
Soma Yukihira, aspires to become a full-time chef in his father Joichiro's family restaurant "Restaurant Yukihira" and surpass his father's culinary skills, but Joichiro gets a new job that requires him to travel around the world and closes his shop. Joichiro has Soma enroll in Totsuki Saryo Culinary Institute, an elite culinary school where students engage in food competitions called shokugeki. If there’s overpower in sports, there’s also in cooking.
3D. FATE SERIES
Tumblr media
The story revolves around Shirou Emiya, a hardworking and honest teenager who unwillingly enters a to-the-death tournament called the Fifth Holy Grail War, where combatants fight with magic and Heroes throughout history for a chance to have their wishes granted.
TOP 2: BLACK CLOVER
Tumblr media
The series focuses on Asta, a young orphan who was raised from birth after being abandoned at the doorstep of an orphanage in Hage village along with his fellow orphan, Yuno. While everyone is born with the ability to utilize mana in the form of Magical Power, Asta is the only exception. He tries to gain magical power through physical training but turns out that Yuno was born as a prodigy, and has more than enough.
and the most voted anime, my all-time favorite:
TOP 1: NARUTO (all series)
Tumblr media
WHO ISN’T FAMILIAR WITH OUR FAVORITE NINJA?! Presenting our TOP 1; NARUTO SHIPPUDDEN SERIES! Naruto Uzumaki is just a young boy who lost everything at a young age including his family. But despite these hardships and doubts from other people, he never gave up training with the help of his senseis and friends until he could finally reach the title of becoming Konoha’s Hokage. Spoiler: He actually achieved it. Lesson? Do not give up on your dreams.
PS. Watch BORUTO too!

Blog 03: Google Suite
Want to edit a document with your groupmates but can’t because of the pandemic? No problem!
We have -- GOOGLE DOCS!
Tumblr media
Google docs is a free web software that enables multiple users to gain access within the file. Not only that, it also has third party apps which you can download in the Google Apps Marketplace such as fancy fonts, template galleries and extra icons! Good news is, you can access them all from every browser.
How does this work?
1. Go to Google.com
2. Type on the search bar “Google Docs” or simply input this URL:  docs.google.com/create.
3. As you enter the site, with your gmail address present, Create a document by choosing a template or if you want to have your own style, click “Blank” which is located on the mid - left portion of the site.
4. You will now be directed in an Untitled Document and with this, you can now start!
5. After creating your work, you can either download the file or share it to others.
a. To download the file ; click “file” on the upper left corner of the site > click download > choose the desired format of your file
b. To share the file with others ; click the “share” button on the upper right corner of the site > set and save the name of your file > and add the email addresses of the people whom you want to share the file with.
Also, you can also set different options on the “change to anyone with this link” button if you want people with the link to be only a viewer, editor or commenter.
Now you know!
So what are my tips and tricks in Google docs?
1. If you live in an always-Christmas city (blackouts/brownouts, heh), Google Docs is the one for you. Your file will be still alive even if it takes 10x blackout in a day. Google Docs will secure your file and will always save it, even if you don’t.
2. You can tag someone in the comment section to catch their attention. Just simply input “@” before their username.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Have a collaboration with your friends. Invite them using the “share” button and be sure to set the “people with this link” on editor mode.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Download some add-ons to have your desired font style or any additional third party software that can be used in making your document more interesting.
Tumblr media
5. Have fun and explore! Google Docs is more than just an ordinary document editing software! you can manage the dictionary, spelling and grammar, translate document in any language, publish your document online and offline!

Blog 02: Republic Act No. 10175
Republic Act No. 10175 The Republic Act No. 10175 of the Philippine Republic is all about the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 where the state recognizes every activity happening in the internet that involves the sake of the country’s social and economic aspect. It also include every user’s safety and protection from threats and abuse such as offenses against the confidentiality and integrity of the computer systems, computer-related offenses and content related offenses. This act exist to secure movements inside the internet and to maintain a clean and free online community BUT....
Did you know?
According to the Global 2nd Quarter of 2019 Security Bulletin, which compiles data from the Kaspersky Security Network (KSN), Philippines has topped on the 5th place on Kaspersky Lab’s global list of countries with the most online threats pointing at almost 7 million or 37.4% of Kaspersky Filipino-users being attacked. It has been revealed that the method of attack was called “drive by download”.
THIS SHOULD SERVE AS A WAKE UP CALL FOR ALL NETIZENS!
Tumblr media
So, why should we follow this act?
1. To know our LIMITATIONS - not everything “funny” in the internet is appropriate. We are very fond of memes but we do not notice that we are ACTUALLY AND ALREADY violating a law written in the said RA.
2. To protect our SELVES - contrary to number one, when we are the victim of an online cyber crime, we are fully aware that we have the rights to not ignore threats and report directly to the society.
3. For our NATION - our virtual world represents our country. I have seen recent issues inside Facebook between Philippines and Cambodia, where it has been stated that young filipinas were doing a “pinag-pyestahan” pictures of good-looking cambodian guys by adding their personal accounts and chatting them. In other words, invading their privacy. However, the issues were resolved after a couple of days. I hope this won’t happen ever again. It’s a shame.
Now, where there already cases were the act was violated by our fellow Filipinos? Y E S.
Sadly, it still happens up until now.
>  Filipino mother play an increasingly large and shocking role in South-East Asian child sexual abuse -  In 2018, Vilma (36), was convicted of trafficking and jailed for 20 years. Why? Inside 5 years, Vilma recorded videos and photos, and  even live streamed her own children performing sexual acts online, attracting pedophiles who are located in Australia, US and Germany. Each crime earned her between $15 and $613 AUD. She then faced 20 years in jail and paid compensation to her children.
> Pastor who posted fake COVID-19 info in Facebook has been arrested -  In Butuan City, the PNP has filed charges against a pastor who posted false information in social media about two supposed coronavirus disease-infected (COVID-19) persons in the province. Even though the suspect has already offered a public apology, he will still be arrested as soon as the warrant will be issued. Do not spread FAKE NEWS!
>  Basilan city councilor sues 2 suspected trolls for cyber libel - it has been said that 2 local government employees created fake accounts on Facebook to accuse the city councilor of masterminding a 2018 bombing and corrupting village officials to win the elections. The case is still on-going as the 2 suspects were not responsive to the media call.  --

Blog 01: Internet Safety
Tumblr media
“Where are you going, Romeo?” “To the post office, I’ll be sending Dorothy a letter.” vs.
“What are you doing, Romeo?”
“Video call. Say hi to Dorothy!” Sounds familiar?
-------------
During the post office era, people use pen and papers to send their unspoken feelings to their desired recipient but do these recipients really receive those letters? Surprisingly, no --- not until 1847! Accordingly, receivers of the mails usually should pay postage on the letter received which resulted to people refusing so many letters just to escape these ghosting bills. Ghosting; things that come and go unexpectedly. Like her feelings for you. Today, as we are here in the middle of the pandemic, chilling in our seats typing on our keyboards or even tapping our phone screens, we are almost -- not almost but ALWAYS living virtually than living physically in this world. Especially that there’s nothing to look forward inside the house anymore. No barkada nights, no Soju drinks and no date with jowa. Communication nowadays is always in:  “S O C I A L   M E D I A” With these applications, we can easily access our friends and families who are away from our places. We can finally have a talk, laugh, share opinions about the government  oops. Why did I used the strikethrough pen again? Oh. It’s because, I might not be safe. Ha-ha.
Just like the postal office’s slowly but surely process, the internet also has its downsides. What could be the possible dangers that you’d face upon enjoying virtual reality? 1. Everyone commit this without them knowing; CYBERBULLYING. Familiar with Marlou Arizala or known as Xander Ford? Yeah, i’ll keep my mouth zipped.
2. Are you a nosy kind of person? Don’t click popping clouds on sites saying “you won 1 trillion dollars, congrats!”, Girl, you could be welcoming 1 trillion dollars of MALWARE. If you do so, sit tight and wait for butterflies flying around your monitor. Congrats!
3. Posted a picture of yourself with a bundle of 1,000 pesos? Well, good luck on that. Leave your social media account and come back, site will say “password has changed 1 minute ago”. Say good bye to your bank account details listed on your private messages. HACKERS are everywhere.
4. You wanted an Iphone 11 pro max but realized it was too chaching because of the price and suddenly saw a post saying “Iph0ne 11 pr0 mex for 1,000 pesos only, RUSH!”  and because of your adrenaline panicking, you clicked “BUY” and send your one and only 1,000 pesos through a pera padala. After several days, weeks and months, nothing arrived, same as the mysterious disappearance of the seller’s account. So, anyare? You have been slained, SCAMMED.
Okay, enough of the nail-biting scenarios. Let’s proceed to:
INTERNET SAFETY TIPS 101
1. DO NOT UPLOAD EVERY INCH OF YOUR INFORMATION.  - You are a mayor’s son? Okay. You own 5 bank accounts? Okay. You are Enrile’s descendant? Okay. You are in Mars for vacation? Okay. You live in the Malacanang Palace, room 23? Okay. You are José “Pepe” Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda? Lodi! Just, do not share these information to the public. Why?
> Identity theft - hackers will steal your identity and pretend that they are you to have an access to any eye-catching things you have. Much more worse, they could have done punishable by law acts UNDER your name without you knowing and just chilling in Mars.
2. CREATE OUT OF WORLD PASSWORDS - Do not opt for your birthdays, anniversaries and even breakup dates. These are very obvious options in putting passwords to hack accounts as well as your very own name, family member names, pet names, crush names. Also do not settle for one password on multiple accounts; domino effect will happen. Powerful passwords include different characters such as “!#*_-”, uppercase and lowercase letters and combination of non-related to yourself numbers.
ps. do not forget your email address to reset forgotten passwords.
3. THE POWER OF THREE LETTERS: VPN - We Filipinos are fond of “Libre” things but we are not aware of the dangers behind those “free” things such as the free WiFi in public places which I guarantee that is not “safe”. What do you have to do? Provide your VPN or known as Virtual Private Network which creates a secure connection over the internet. However, I recommend not using it when playing online games such as Mobile Legends because this interrupt other players’ gameplay. Wag please.
4. ONLINE SHOP (?) - Bank accounts are usually link in shopping accounts for faster transactions. But, are we really aware of the risks waiting? Just as stated in number 1, do not share your private information in public meaning DO NOT provide your bank account just because it’s easy. I recommend to go for COD or Cash on Delivery to avoid problems especially being scammed.  5. ONLINE FRIENDS (?) - The idea of having online friends and meeting up with them is fun and exciting. However, what if those accounts of your online friends are just dummy accounts, as they use the faces of your oppa and acting as if they know how to speak korean to get your attention? Will fling and flirt and ask for meet up, and when that time comes, trouble enters too? Our mothers keep on saying “Do not talk to strangers” when we were young. Might as apply it on the internet even if you’re old enough. 6. THINK BEFORE YOU CLICK “SEND” - Only share contents that keep you away from threats. Do not send malicious pictures over the internet. As I said, the internet seems private but is actually very public. Chat boxes, group chats, group pages can be seen. Even if you’ll delete things over and over again, It won’t vanish, may forever sa internet. Protect yourself or else you wouldn’t know, that leaked picture of yours is viral on other restricted sites.  7. KEEP YOUR ANTI-VIRUS UP TO DATE - You can keep your relationship longer right? Do it also with your anti-virus. Always scan before and after you use your device. Check if there’s fishy between the files and double check that “exe.” folder. 8. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THINGS FROM THE INTERNET RECKLESSLY - Out of date OS? Game needs to be purchased from the playstore? Looking for an APK? Leave it to computer software experts. Do not do it on your own. These files from the internet might contain viruses that can harm your devices. Lastly, do not depend on your social virtual life. Learn how to appreciate the people inside your home. Take time to walk away from the internet and acknowledge living life in reality. The internet stays forever, but the people around us don’t. ---- Sources: Chen, D. (2020, August 19).  16 Surprising Facts About the U.S. Post Office.
