Dance AU

It’s been almost 6 years, since I have been on the Jetko side of tumblr.

And after rummaging through all my old folders and reading both old and some new stories featuring these two angsty boys…

I can’t believe that there still is not a single Jetko Dance AU

Like imagine:

Jet and Zuko visiting the same Dance Academy:

Jet visiting Hip Hop or other freestyle dance (like House or Locking) classes

and Zuko attending (being forced) ballet or modern dance classes, because his family consists of professional famous dancers

they both first saw each other, when Zuko came an hour earlier to practice his moves, and exactly when he was walking past the exercise room, he sees Jet and his little group being so in sync and smooth with their moves

Zuko isn’t aware but he was so in awe and staring, he didn’t notice when Jet stares back and sends him a smirk - Zuko scurries away

and of course, Jet being Jet, tries to find this mysterious boy and after a few days, late in the evening, he sees Zuko going through his usual dance moves

he can’t help it, but he feels so mesmerized, however he notices that there is a stiffness in Zuko’s movements, like he’s being afraid of something

again with Jet being Jet, he calls out and smooth talks him and says to him “Dance with me”, and upon seeing Jet, Zuko’s like “oh no, it’s him” and refuses at first, after some time he gives in

at first, Zuko is a little awkward, because he doesn’t know what to do and tries to copy Jet, but after some time he falls into the same rhythm and actually has a lot of fun dancing - Zuko also notes how he feels more like himself

Jet notes this, over half a year passes, and after some more practice sessions and hangouts, getting to know each other, teaching each other new moves, he asks Zuko to join his group in the upcoming dance competition in a few months

Zuko really wants to, but that is not something his father would want, and winning this competition will bring him a step closer to a professional and maybe make his father a little proud (but of course, Azula is also participating, and Zuko can’t afford to lose against her and he has to do it alone) and so he declines

and so going back to his usual routines, slower dance, he can’t help but fall into the fast steps, making him realize how much freer, happier he was when dancing with Jets group

which in turn makes him so angry, because Jet “just messed up” the thing he was practicing so hard for; but at the same time, as annoying his nibbling on a toothpick and his teasing was, he discovers how lonely he actually was and starts to miss him

Jet on the other hand is not angry, he just accepts it but still is kinda gloomy because “why wouldn’t Zuko do something he actually enjoys?”

and so he often falls out of step and can’t really focus, since dancing with Zuko was so different and they were so fluid together - some of his little group didn’t like how Jet is so out of it and left; leaving Smellerbee, Longshot and a few others with Jet

Zuko still can not find a way to fall back to his original dancing, without feeling like ripping his hair out

and of course Aang and Katara, who are pairing up for the competition, notice his sulking in class and ask the reason for it

Zuko, a little reluctant, explains how he doesn’t know what he wants to do, as for one, winning this competition in the dance style his family professionalizes, is the only way he oh so dearly believes is to get the acknowledgment of his father

on the other side, he just wants to do his own thing, finding and dancing his own style, which he comprehends he already had found when he was together dancing with Jet

and so after some words of encouragement from Aang like “Dance is the hidden language of the soul, of the body. You can’t show it, if you’re not feeling it.” and his Uncle, whom he actually helped out in the tea shop when he had enough free time: “Dancing is the loftiest, the most moving, the most beautiful of the arts, because it is no mere translation or abstraction from life; it is life itself.”

back to Jet: he is starting to lose his mind, because winning the competition is the only way to show the people that he is able to do something, that he is not some irrelevant outcast, not the same guy he used to be when he messed with the wrong guys, and now that many left he has to start over

and so when he encounters Zuko and asks him if he still can join the group, because is a month still enough? Jet simply answers with a “Sure”, and so he doesn’t really care risking his friendship with Zuko, because Zuko is his key to victory and he’ll do anything to get it

Smellerbee and Longshot notice that Jet falls back into old habits and even Zuko notices that something is wrong with him, Bee confronts him about it, Jet doesn’t listen to her and after threatening to leave since he promised he changed, he starts to think and doesn’t appear to practice the next few days

Jet meets an old man who gives really good advice and makes the best tea he’s ever tasted, and so he decides to dissolve the group, because what is the point of participating in a competition without a purpose?

going to the usual practice room he sees Zuko there and before Jet can say something Zuko says “Dance with me” and Jet immediately thinks of the day he first saw Zuko dance

getting in position, he notices how far apart they stand from another and compared to the first time they danced, this one is a slower dance and Jet easily adjust his movements to Zuko’s, fathoming how much they changed with their dance style

arms slowly swinging out , carefully circling each other, little jumps and big steps, slightly speeding up, small steps; going slower again; coming to a halt, they are both suddenly much closer than they used to be

Unspoken thoughts: is this alright? Are you alright? Do you accept me? We’re right beside you.

with Jets arms resting on Zuko’s waist and Zuko’s hands placed on Jets shoulders, staring and searching for a hint of doubt and Jet suddenly decides that maybe, he doesn’t have to prove anything to a past he has long left behind and only to himself and the people he holds dear

and of course that precious moment is ruined when someone loudly exclaims “Jet” and Smellerbee hugs him, telling him how worried they were and glad that he’s back now

and Jet is being like “of course, we’ve got a competition to win” and so they plan out new choreography under heavy time pressure and find some last minute new members (Street dancer Toph, Sokka & Suki anyone?)

without meaning to, Jet and Zuko become the leading dancers, fusing both of their styles and wow do they make a show

Time flies and suddenly it’s the day of the competition, everyone is excited but still nervous because they only practiced for barely three weeks and still have a few mishaps

right before going into the main hall, Zuko meets his father, who asks him about his progression and how he hopes Zuko won’t disgrace their family and Zuko confronts his father, telling him how he found something he is truly happy about, the people who befriended him and that  a certain someone made and gave him a chance to be himself

Jet seeing the whole exchange, comes up, grabs Zuko’s hand with a confident “Let’s go”, and go to their preparation room, since the show already started

they talk a little, share their worries and be so comfortable & close around each other, maybe something happens - maybe not; but their time is up and it’s show time

with last words of encouragement towards each other; Jet and Zuko are going into their positions and the music starts

the performance is a beautiful combination of ballet and street dance; easily flowing from one style into the other (Step Up 1 the final dance anyone???)

whether they win or lose is up to you

fact is: both overcome their struggle; Jet finding peace within himself and stops running away from a past which never followed him; and Zuko standing up for himself and finding his own dance style he can stay true to himself

There are so many more possibilities; but this got longer than I intended and I’m gonna stop here

Imagine Alastor and Pentious cuddling together when they sleep, Pentious sleeping on his back while Alastor sleeps on top of him, using his chest as a pillow, or, alternatively, resting his chin on his shoulder.

Imagine the first time Pentious decides to call Alastor “chuckaboo.”

Imagine the first time Alastor gets Pentious to blush, watching those blackened scales slowly turning a soft pink hue.

Imagine Alastor watching Pentious build an entire laser cannon from scratch, watching as he hangs upside down from the metal beams to weld a plate together with a blowtorch, watching the light from the flames glinting off of his goggles, his scales, finding it to be the most mesmerizing thing in the world.

Imagine Pentious watching Alastor dance with joy to the tune of Cab Calloway’s voice, to the tune of a song the Radio Demon hadn’t heard in years, after Pentious showed him how to find songs via the internet, all the while finding the sight of his jovial smile and the sound of his laugh makes his heart flutter in his chest.

Imagine the both of them feeling their hearts race when they see each other in a certain light. When Pentious sees Alastor as smug as ever, a horrid grin stretching over his face as he lets his powers tear a demon limb from limb, as the roar of static and the crimson red glow of his magic swells through the air. When Alastor sees Pentious unleash his warship upon the streets of Hell, cackling in utter joy as fire streaks across the sky and buildings turn to rubble, his eyes glowing and his hood stretched wide with sadistic glee as he unleashes his mechanical mastery upon Hell itself.

So what is "Total Drama is Bad, Actually" about? Is it a critique of the show?

“Total Drama is Bad, Actually” Is a full series Rewrite of Total Drama!

I take the characters that we all love, and change up the story that surrounds them, either to make it more satisfying from a narrative stand point, or to make things more in character! Which is decided based on a mixture of the Biographies and actual show Cannon!

Designs, Labels, Eliminations, and Challenge Order are all things that change in TDiBA from the original.  

I have Something planned for every season, except for Pahkitew which I’m kinda stumped on, and I’m currently in the process of writing the “Episodes” for Season 1! 

It’s a VERY large passion project of mine that I’ve been working on since September this year (2019) and it’s so close to being a reality! 

The name was just a joke name I called the doc that I was putting my ideas in, and it just stuck! 

Though a critique of the show would also be interesting, that’s not what this is, and I’m sorry if that disappoints!
