In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, extremely counterintuitively, Yoshi's Flutter Jump actually goes further if the player lets go of the D-Pad/Control Stick. In the upper footage, the player lets go of all directional input and the jump lands further than in the lower footage, where Right is being held.
As usually, holding a direction is necessary to maintain speed and letting go causes the character to lose momentum until stopping, this is exactly the opposite of the expected behavior.

In the Mario Party series, nearly all games refer to the star collectibles as "Stars", capitalized, except for an unknown reason, Mario Party 3 and 5, which use "stars", uncapitalized.
Above are excerpts from the manuals of Mario Parties 1 through 7 in order, with "Stars" being circled in green and "stars" in red. Note that in-game usage of the word always matches the manual. All following Mario Party games also use "Stars".
While it would be somewhat understandable if the change was made for two consecutive games, being simply a decision that was reverted, having it appear in two non-consecutive games is rather bizarre and suggests there was a period of indecision or argument at Hudson Soft/Nintendo about the proper capitalization of the term.
