Despite me despising just how much this fandom(and even the devs) dismisses Mari,i feel like u got a few things wrong.
i dont think him subconsciously resenting basil for covering up Mari's death *all by himself* (im not sure if u have read the datamined additions to the photos, but you should read them to get a better idea of what went on there. Sunny was completely dissociated, looking at the floor, the leafs, but not Basil or Mari's corpse due to freezing up) is that unreasonable. Mutilating Mari's corpse was an active, conscious decision on his(Basil)'s part,12 year olds arent toddlers and staging a suicide isnt an impulsive action compared to a 3 second lashout. Hanging a corpse takes one or 2 hours, especially when u are doing it all by yourself. Compared to Sunny lashing out,and pushing his sister, which is horrible in and out of itself,it kind of pales in comparision to this.
Honestly I don't think the argument that Sunny couldn't tell everyone the truth sooner since he repressed it and thus couldn't remember it males any sense. Mostly because his alleged repression doesn't seem to prevent him from subconsciously blaming Basil for everything that happened.
Headspace's entire storyline is built on Basil vanishing and his friends gradually forgetting he ever existed. Black Space consists of Sunny's idealized version of him apologizing before dying. The imaginary Basil Sunny talks to right before triggering the Truth sequence also pleads with him to forgive him, despite the real world's Basil not apologizing once.
Despite the fact he apparently forgot everything about Mari's murder and the subsequent cover-up, he still feels Basil should feel ashamed of something.
Funny how that works, eh?
