How to Choose the File System

So, you have three different file systems that you can use for partitioning your hard drives. The following are some tips on how you can choose the best file system for different types of storage media.

1. APFS: Best for Solid State and Flash Drives

APFS is the file system that is most appropriate for flash drives and SSDs. In fact, the macOS High Sierra uses it as the default file system for these two drives. This new file system by Apple has considerable advantages over other file systems particularly Mac OS Extended. For starters, it is much faster at copying and pasting folders than the older file systems and doesn’t take much time in determining the space occupied by a folder on the drive. Moreover, Apple has made extensive reliability improvements for this file system which ensures lesser instances of file corruption than in previous file systems.

While there are countless advantages of APFS, it does have its downsides as well. For instance, you need to have the latest Mac OS, macOS High Sierra, in order to write to this file system. Macs running on older versions of Mac OS won’t be able to utilize this file system. So, if you want the drive to be used on Macs which don’t have macOS High Sierra then you should not format them using APFS. Also, keep in mind that APFS isn’t compatible with Windows so drives formatted with this file system can’t be read by Windows PCs.

2. Mac OS Extended: Best for Mechanical Drives or Drives Used with Older macOS Versions

Before the release of APFS, Mac OS Extended was the file system used by all Macs as their default file system. Even macOS High Sierra utilizes this file system as default for mechanical and hybrid drives. The reason for this is that APFS is not optimized for those drives and doesn’t offer the same benefits as it does for flash and solid-state drives. Even when formatting external drives, it is a better option to go for Mac OS Extended than APFS. Another advantage that this file system has over APFS is its compatibility with Time Machine. Thus, Mac OS Extended is the most suitable file system to be used for formatting backup drives.

So, if you have a drive that is to be used with Macs running on earlier versions of Mac OS than macOS High Sierra, then you should only format it using Mac OS Extended. Moreover, all mechanical drives should be formatted using Mac OS Extended too.

3. ExFAT: Best for External Drives Shared with Windows Computers

If you make use of both Windows PCs and Macs and have an external drive which is to be plugged to both, then you can neither use Mac OS Extended or APFS. In such circumstances, you need a cross-platform solution that can be read and written to by both Windows and Mac OS. ExFAT is the best option available to you in this regard. This file system was developed by Microsoft in the year 2006. It allows you to format external drives that need to be used by both Macs and Windows PCs. This file system doesn’t have partition and file size limitations like FAT32, which is the older file system that offers cross-platform compatibility.

While ExFAT is definitely the best cross-platform file system, it does have its faults. For instance, it is vulnerable to file corruption and doesn’t support features like metadata offered by APFS and Mac OS Extended.

File systems are important for making full use of a storage device and determine how data is to be retrieved and saved on them. When you are partitioning or formatting drives, you need to choose a file system of your choice. Usually, there are three options available which include APFS, Mac OS Extended, and ExFAT. Each of these file systems has its own strengths and weaknesses and are different from each other. You need to decide which one is more suitable for your needs and then use it to format your drive.

Despite it's simplicity, Insaniquarium is one of the most invigorating and addicting games of the task management/arcade genre currently available.

Aquarium Management and Defense

The premise is simple: build up an aquarium of strong fish who produce coins to purchase larger fish, greater weaponry, more efficient supplies, and all essentials needed to fend off the hoard of aliens that incessantly attack your humble little tank. All begins calmly, with only one or two guppies hungering for attention but slowly your forces grow, constantly nourishing the army that will lead you to fortune and victory.

Unlock Helpers for Your Tank

Along the way some unique pets are acquired as points mount, including a fighting swordfish and coin-collecting snail. Some of the sound effects produced by these underwater friends can be a bit disturbing at times, including those of Prego the fish who is constantly reproducing masses of guppies with the most unpleasant of sounds.

Mayhem!

As the continually growing numbers of fish drop equal numbers of coins, it is a helter skelter to collect all your earnings while tending to the well being of your fleet. Alien attacks occur regularly and can feature several evil players, including a flaming man and a brutal shark-like beast.

Working through all the levels will unlock several other play modes, as well as over 20 diverse pets, more elaborate tanks, and even wilder minion extra-terrestrials. Tank backgrounds are vibrant and a pleasure to behold.

Conclusion - Unique and Very Well Done

I’ve also had fish in my virtual tank for two weeks and I bought the food upgrade but they still haven’t grown, I don’t remember it taking this long in the original, when will they grow? After downloading the Standalone setup file, install the Bluestack on your Windows 7/8/8.1/10 or MAC PC. It would take about 2-5 minutes. Just skip through all the interrupts in between. 4. How to Install S & S Windows Applications on a MAC Computer Using Wineskin

Wineskin provides free Windows emulation support to run S & S applications on a MAC.

What is Wineskin?

Wineskin is a tool used to make ports of Windows software to Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard (or later). The ports are in the form of normal Mac application bundle wrappers. It works like a wrapper around the Windows software, and you can share just the wrappers if you choose (that is the strategy used here). Best of all, it’s free and does not require installation of the Windows OS!

Installation Instructions

Click on the Wineskin download link. The download will start automatically and show up in your downloads tool bar at the bottom of your browser screen as Wineskin Winery.app V…zip. When the download has completed, double click it to open it in a new finder window.

Once the app has created a new desktop icon, which will show up in the same finder window as your download, double click on the Wineskin Winery icon.

This will bring up a security window, asking if you would like to open the Wineskin Winery application which was downloaded from the Internet (even though it is from an unidentified developer), select Open.

Once the app is installed, it will automatically open. Select the bottom option that says Create New Blank Wrapper.

Type in the name of the program you are installing (this set of instructions creates a wrapper for the SewArt application. You should replace SewArt with the name of the program you are installing, such as SewWhat-Pro, SewWrite, etc.). Select OK.

Once the wrapper is created, go to the S & S product download page for the program you wish to install (for example, click Shop->SewArt to access the SewArt webpage). Click the Download (Mac) version button.

This will once again create a download in your browser. When the download has finished, if your settings automatically open the downloaded app, you will receive an alert saying your computer cannot open the application. Select OK.

Single click your Downloads folder (in your dock at the bottom of your screen).

Right click (two finger tap on your mouse pad) the install app

This will pop up a menu. Hover over the Open With option. Select the Other… option.

In the window that pops up, type in the Search box the name of the wrapper you created in Step 6 (SewArt in this case).

Click the box next to the “Always Open With” option

Double click the wrapper you created in Step 6 (SewArt in this case)

If your security preferences do not allow for unidentified developers, click OK on the security alert that pops up. If no security alert pops up, continue to the next step.

Right click on the install app, and select the Open With then the SewArt option (this will be based on the name of the wrapper you created in Step 6).

Select Open in the security alert that pops up.

The SewArt installer will now open. Select Yes.

Read the Terms and Conditions, and select Yes to agree and continue with the install.

Select Close once the install has completed.

Select OK when the alert box pops up saying the program has been installed.

Right click on the new icon created on your desktop (.ink) and select Open with then Other…

Search again for the wrapper you created in Step 6

Important: To skip this step in the future, select the box next to the option Always Open With.

Select the wrapper you created in Step 6.

The program (SewArt in this case) will now open, and you can use it just like you would on a Windows computer!

Use the MAC Download button on the product page to download the zipped S & S application Wineskin Wrapper to the Download folder on your MAC. For example, if you are installing SewWhat-Pro, the zipped wrapper file will be named Wineskin-SewWhat-Pro.app.zip. Unzip it and run it to install the product. You may be prompted that “SewWhat-Pro (or whatever application you are installing) is an application downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?” Select “Open” to continue with the installation. You may have to change your security settings to allow the file to run, as explained here. The Wineskin programs will have a wine colored icon next to the file name after they are installed (see figure below).

Once the installation is successfully completed and you open the application, the S & S product application registration box will open. You may now choose to continue using the product as a Demo or enter your registration information if you purchased a license.
