“Oh crap, sorry!” Candice said as she bumped into the other and knocked everything out of both of their arms, “Are you okay? You aren’t hurt, are you? Let me help you pick up your stuff.”
@matthiasvallcis
“I am okay, thank you,” Matthias assured, using magic to try and clear up their belongings as efficiently as possible. “Are you? It seems that you were in a rush somewhere with how fast you were going.”

“Hey, it’s alright and I’m sure he’ll be alright too.” Ariella smiled, moving to wrap her arms around his waist, raising up on her tiptoes to press a kiss to his cheek. “I just wish there was some more that I could do, I know a lot about animals but I unfortunately lack knowledge in the side where it comes to analyzing them for health concerns.”
“Thank you again, Ella,” he said softly, mirroring the action and wrapping his own arms around her. Matthias nuzzled himself into the crook of her neck for a moment, grateful that she was always there for him no matter what he asked of her. “It is a shame, but I am already amazed by the knowledge you manage to keep in there,” Matthias smiled as he pulled away to look at her. “I am probably overreacting but it makes me feel better knowing you are here for him too.”

“Crap,” Lo said, looking through her files. “Hey, Matthias,” she called when she saw he return to his desk. “Have you seen the file for Thompson? I was told that it should be in the files that were put on my desk this morning, but it wasn’t.”
“No, I cannot say I have,” Matthias replied, looking at Dolores with concern. She seemed very worried to not be able to find the file in question. “Do you think they could have dropped the files on the way here or something? Maybe you could try a summoning spell?”

“Right, of course. I don’t envy you there, Matthias,” Alastair replied, “My hands have also been full but with music stuff. I think rather less stressful than what you have.”
“Music stuff?” Matthias picked up with a smile. “That sounds exciting,” he replied with interest. “Have new opportunities been coming your way?”

“Should I not be sitting here or something?” Maggie looked around the café, a slight confused look on her face. “The table was clear when I sat down with my coffee. I don’t think you can reserve tables here.”
“No– it is okay. That is your seat now,” Matthias assured quickly, wishing he hadn’t been so expressive with his facial features in front of the woman. He hadn’t meant to make her second-guess her ability to sit there. “I was just sat there before and was surprised to see it occupied so quickly. Sorry to have bothered you.”

“Lucky girl.” Not that she’d got any less lucky of course. Kai was the same if he got in before her. Thankfully there never seemed to be an argument over whose turn it was to do the cooking. “I hope she knows how lucky she’s got it.”
“I often feel that I am the lucky one,” Matthias shrugged back. He often wondered how he’d stumbled into something so good but he was grateful for it every day. “I hope Kai knows he’s lucky too,” he then mentioned with a smile.

Ariella couldn’t help but frown, both at Matthias’ words and at the look of the bird that seemed to be looking a little bit sorry for himself. “Poor boy.” Ariella cooed, moving over to the bird and crouching down so she was more at his height. “What’s going on, bud? What’s got you so glum.” She asked as though the owl would respond to her. “Has he been outside lately? Maybe he needs to stretch his wings, go for a little bit of a fly around.” She suggested, worrying her bottom lip between her teeth. “Or maybe he’s just feeling a little bit out of it, might have some sort of bug. I’d say if he’s not eating and drinking then we should probably take him to get checked out, we don’t want to leave it for too long in case his prognosis get’s worse.”
Matthias watched his girlfriend examine the owl, hoping she’d have advice that would lift Voltaire’s spirits. “Maybe he does need to stretch his wings. I thought he had been outside today, but maybe not,” he considered with a nod, walking over to the nearest window to open it wide enough for him to fly out. “If that does not help you, mon ami, then we will take you to a professional,” Matt spoke aloud, walking over to Ariella and the owl. “Thank you, Ella. I hope we figure out what is wrong with him soon enough.”

“Do you think I would struggle to put anyone in their place?” Kai could vouch for the fact she’d tried that the moment she’d met him and his family. It seemed as though there was very little that could scare the woman. “But I’m intrigued to see what you get me doing. Do you cook for Ariella regularly then?”
“Touché,” came the amused reply from Matthias, unable to come up with a response to contest her. Clara was well-spoken, confident and definitely not somebody to mess with. “I like to, yes. Whenever I come home earlier than her or anything like that I will try to make something she’ll enjoy.”

“Oh come on, what are friends for? here’s no need for a tit for tat here,” Alastair said, smiling, “How have you been anyway? We haven’t spoken in a while.”
“You are absolutely right, Alastair,” the blond smiled warmly, grateful for his friendships. “Thankfully I have been okay. I think everyone who works in the Ministry has had their hands a little more full recently and I am no exception, but everything else in my life is good. And you, Alastair?”

After taking a couple of sips of his coffee, Oliver looked at down at the beverage and frowned. It certainly didn’t taste as good as before and he was confused for a moment, wondering if he came to the right place. He looked around, but everything seemed the same. “How is it that within a couple of months of my absence this coffee now tastes like phlegm?” He muttered out loud.
“Maybe your tastes have changed?” he suggested. “I cannot say mine tastes like phlegm, so I am not sure what happened with yours,” Matthias shrugged, realizing he wasn’t very helpful but perhaps the man had been asking rhetorically anyways. “You could try asking them for another.”

“It is relaxing. Sometimes life just calls for those days where you allow someone else to just… take care of you and do everything for you.” She definitely saw the value in it anyway. “Yes, I’ll help you. I’d say, just don’t shout at me but I can’t imagine you ever shouting.” It just didn’t seem in Matthias’ nature unless someone truly pushed him to it.
“Well since you recommend it so highly I might have to try it some time,” he chuckled lightly, happy to hear Clara talk about it with so much fervor. “Yeah I am most definitely not the shouting type,” Matthias nodded. “But if I get a little bossy do not hesitate to put me in my place,” he mentioned with another laugh.

“I know you are not a veterinarian, but nobody I know knows animals like you do, Ella,” Matthias began, gesturing for Ariella to follow him over to where Voltaire was perched. “He has not been eating for the past few days. Could you try and see if you can figure out what is going on with him? He just looks kind of sad lately,” he admitted, frowning slightly as he reached to stroke the feathers upon the owl’s head.

“I like to go every now and again to a spa. I usually end up making it a bit of a girls day with Manon.” She explained, given they tended to enjoy similar things and the woman understood just how stressful it was to do their job. “Well, I can cook but Kai is probably better than me. Maybe it’s a French thing.” Clara answered with a smirk. “But sure, it’s probably one of the only places I’ll let you take charge.”
“That sounds very relaxing,” Matthias replied with a smile. He tried to think about the last time he’d done something for himself that was relaxing like that and made a note to plan something soon. “Maybe it is,” he chuckled, unable to help but enjoy being in a kitchen. “You’ll help me though, will you not? Cooking is no fun on your own.”

“Perhaps but really, why would I pay that much to take a nap under a towel?” Clara pointed out. “I think I’d rather be awake for it and getting the benefits.” She stated matter of factly. “I mean, if you’re wanting to take to the kitchen, I’m not going to stop you Matthias. I didn’t know you were such a keen Chef.”
“When you put it like that it does sound pretty silly,” he chuckled, not able to argue with the point she’d made. “Yes, that does make the most sense. Do you get massages often? I cannot remember the last time I had one.” Matthias smiled back at that, “I am a lot more impressive in the kitchen that some would expect. Although I do prefer cooking with company, so I would love it if you would help out. Only if that is something you would like of course.”

Alastair smiled and nodded, “Yeah, for sure. Especially for me given how undecisive I can be,” he joked.
“As can I,” he chuckled back. “If you ever need the favor returned, please let me know. I do not know how much help I will be, but I will definitely try my best.”

“Oh definitely. Maybe I should take you for a change although I am not sure you’d be able to retrieve me from the table as I’d insist on staying longer. That or I’d be asleep anyway.” The woman joked lightly. “And the stodgier the better. So carbs are a must.” Clara insisted with a smile.
“Falling asleep is a sign that the person is doing a good job, non? There is no such thing as too relaxing– or is there?” Matthias asked with another laugh. “Thank you for clearing that up because I was going to ask what ‘stodgier’ means,” he admitted. “I am sure we can cook something up to your preferences though.”

daphnexavery:
Daphne had been so preoccupied on her phone with her supplier that she miscalculated the squirrel to Pomme ratio, meaning the dog’s leash had slipped out of her hand before she even had time to register what was happening. She ended the call with a curse, before running after her dog, but not before she witnessed Pomme barreling into someone. “Shit. Sorry, are you okay? Normally she’s better behaved but she has this thing for squirrels and it’s-… it’s a long story.” She said with a wave of her hand, trying to catch her breath back.
“Yes– yes, all good,” he chuckled, dusting off his trousers as he turned to look at where the dog was heading. “So she is always like this at parks? Good to know,” Matthias teased, turning to look at the blonde again. “Does she have a favorite snack or something we can coax her back with?”
