Maxx is Back

After an extraordinary start and subsequent fall of Maxx's live band "Urbana Sound Cloud".  Maxx is returning to his blogging roots.  It's a real honor to see that egrizzly was by while I was stressing over music charts, bar owners and egos.  Sorry for the long leave but I've got even more ideas this time and need to return to the studio to complete my next generation of songs.

Double drop is pulling off live dance music in London.   This really is the next step in the evolution of dance music.  The return of live musicians to dance music.  Where the DJ simply becomes part of the music as one of the musicians, rather than replacing them.  I'm trying to get this sort of thing going on in my home town with Urbana Sound Cloud.  The fact that Double Drop has already achieved it in trend setting London tells me that I'm definitely on the right path.

Amazing work and with a solid Vocalist no less!  By the way, these guys go great while looking through the beautiful photos on artreats.  Put them on your iPod now!

I Just found out that Pop and Dance legends Goldfrapp are following my blog!

I remember seeing them perform "ooh la la'  on Saturday Night and thinking  "I want to be in a band like that!."  I like the way they us their instruments in a way that is more tasteful and different then other pop and dance acts.

We were just talking about Allison Goldfrapp the last time I was in the studio. 

They remind us that much of the unique pop and rock music comes from outside the U.S.

I'm announcing the teaser release of my band's (Urbana Sound Cloud) club music project.   For those of you who don't know, I'm quite busy working with 3 bands all of which I write songs for.  The first is "Radium Hahn"  which is a straight rock / pop band I formed with my brother.   The second is a club music project that aims to mix traditional Brazilian instruments performed by jazz friends of mine with Club and Party music composition.  The third project is an even more authentic Modern Brazilian Pop project which uses even more traditional Brazilian rhythms and instruments.   So two bands are currently producing 3 projects that amount to about 40 songs, of which 13 are awaiting studio time for mixing.  This song has 64 tracks of Brazilian percussion performed by Chad Dunn and recorded at Pogo Studios in Champaign Il.  In addition a real Rhodes electric piano was recorded at Pogo and was performed by my friend and (Has a PHD in music from the University of Chicago!)  Tom Paynter.

E. Grizzly is a friend on my word press Blog.  I love their lyrics. I think in many ways they're better than then activist hip hop acts such as "Rage Against The Machine"  They really get deep into the street poetry.

Gabriel o Pensador. (Gabriel the Thinker) I found this looking for other Brazilian Pop Music on you tube, I didn’t find what I was looking for. ‘Guess it’s rarer than I thought which makes me wish I took better care of that CD, 

But this is quite cool!l, I like the song and the performance What an awesome party that was!

Brazil has many types of music, I like to say it is the music capitol of the world because so many different cultures have passed through there.  Americans think that they invented Back Beat.  But in point of fact, while blues was being forged in the U.S, African music was influencing the creation of Samba music in Brazil.  So, The U.S. did not invent the back beat as so many Americans would like to believe.  For the musicians who are saying “Wait a minute! Rock and Roll hits on 1 and 3!”, that is correct. 

And, what other type of music has the kick drum on 1 and 3?

Maria Rita is loved by Brazilians I hope she get’s to sing at the Olympic Games somebody start a campaign to make sure that happens.  I’m so in love.  Did you know after a first heard her, I went online and bought every single song she has!

What a beautiful melody. It really is to bad about that horrible synth tone. But that’s neither here nor or there. They ought to consider re mixing this tune. Because that drum machine and distortion is horrible.
