This masterpiece could really be a depiction of many things: a seal, a mole, an owl, a worm perhaps. But, when Francheca Prontello famously put lens to canvas in her 1983 polymetrical work on the meaning and emotional closeness of homes and household surroundings, she could frame no other subject than her beloved cat, aptly named "Closey". "Elle est belle" is Balcan Marsioni's latest work on studying perfection. In this piece, partly as an examination of celebrity culture, he shows us what is like to feel so close too someone so beautiful from afar. It's spring time in New York, and that means it's the season for many of New York's spiders to find a new place to live. This spider here was captured by Melissa Barclay who is compiling a story about the precipitous rise in rent for spiders in Manhattan. Many are seeing familiar territory taken over by much less interesting bugs, such as gnats and black flies--an ironic turn of events for this predator-prey dance.
