When she was 5, Marlene's parents took her to a muggle pool. It was horribly crowded so when Marlene and her brothers swam under water, it was difficult to find a spot to come up. Once, a floating mat (not the airborne kind) drifted over Marlene and blocked her  from breaking the surface. She pounded on the mat and tried to find other ways out. She couldn't. Just as she was about to pass out, her brother Marcus rescued her. She has had a fear of drowning and suffocation ever since.

Laughing, Marlene lightly punched Lily in the arm, "Maybe you're losing your touch mon petite protégé." Noticing Lily's horrified face Marlene gave her a squeeze, "Fear not my dear, I'm sure Mary is paying Remus to help her whenever you turn your back."
Removing her arm from around Lily's shoulder, she fiddled with the hem of her skirt as she considered her bloke situation. Leaning into Lily so that her head was resting on her friend's shoulder, she launched into her epic tale of woe.
"Yes my darling Lily, I was in fact supposed to meet a bloke. But I saw him outside of the Great Hall today at breakfast and he told me it was off. This was going to be the second time we were going to meet up, and he's just telling me he's not interested anymore. I'm just like irrationally worried that I did something wrong, or it wasn't good or something like that. I don't know Lils, I'm just freaking out about the whole thing."
Sighing she sat up and closed her eyes, covering her face with her right hand. It had taken her a few years but she had begun to realize that whenever she was regretting something she would do this. It was a bad habit and one that Marlene wasn't sure she could break. Quickly she shifted and attempted a grin, but she gave up realizing that Lily probably knew her way too well not to notice when Marlene was upset.
Gratefully accepting Lily’s assistance into verticality, Marlene brushed off her skirt and flicked her hair out of her face.
“Hey! Lils! Don’t smile! It’s not funny in the least.” Marlene protested as she caught sight of Lily’s grin. The girls looked at each other and...

At first, Azaria only responded with a coldly arched eyebrow. How…decent of her, to be so secretive about the owner of the robe. “What a wonderful girl you are, Marlene,” she said, though already there was a noticeable change in her demeanor; her posture became slightly more relaxed and the look in her eyes grew less intense. It is not that she was not interested in the event, but it was late, well past the curfew, Marlene hardly seemed like a person easy to persuade into anything, Azaria was tired, and she had a plant that she was not supposed to have in her bag. Perhaps, just perhaps, this could wait. Not long. Just a day, and then she would see who was missing a house robe if it still interested her. There was no need for her to press the matter now.
She had been tired for the last couple of days, anyway, this wasn’t worth her energy. So she sighed, finally responding. “Of course, yes, I find you to be some big blood traitor, as you put it, but I was more concerned about the reputation of my house than the guys you fool around with; after all, the latter is rather hard to keep up with, I’d say.” With a casual shrug, Azaria made a step to the side.
Rolling her eyes Marlene inched her way around the witch and towards freedom. As she walked away she turned back, having just come up with a rebuff. Just as she opened her mouth, she noticed Azaria's bag was looking particularly bulky. She narrowed her eyes and tried to get a better look before realizing Azaria was looking at her expectantly. Taking the briefest of moments to reflect, she decided it would be better to be sleeping safely in Gryffindor tower than dueling with a Slytherin. Yet she couldn't hold back one inesy little comment as she neared the end of the corridor,
"At least I have some to keep track of..."
As soon as the words passed her lips, Marlene squeezed her eyes shut and mentally kicked herself. Why why why why did she have to have to say some thing. Taking a breath she walked purposefully away from Azalea, she didn't care, or better yet, hadn't even heard.

“Hey! Lils! Don’t smile! It’s not funny in the least.” Marlene protested as she caught sight of Lily’s grin. The girls looked at each other and suddenly Marlene couldn’t help but crack up. Carefully plopping down on her bed so as to ensure no more dangerous falls occurred, she giggled safely till her sides ached.
“Well Lily my darling, you can blame my blasted trunk for everything. It decided to attack me and in my noble effort to defend myself and perhaps the whole of Hogwarts, I got a battle wound and was tending to it when my floor turned against me as well.” Sighing, she continued, “See it really is a horrid tragedy.”
Biting back a grin she turned to Lily. “So did you have a psychic vision and decide to come to my aid?”
Marlene paced around the dormitory, really it was more like stomping but that sounded terribly unladylike. She was mad. Madder than mad she was furious. Just thinking about her sodding brothers made her want to punch a wall. She settled for kicking her trunk instead. However, in...

Marlene was thoroughly annoyed now. Why was Azaria giving her so much grief? Well she knew exactly why, Azaria was a Slytherin and Marlene was a Gryffindor. If the roles had been reversed Marlene knew she would be doing the exact same thing and she sort of admired the girl for it, not many people could see through Marlene's excuses, much less confront her about them. But still, Azaria stood in her way and she couldn't exchange pleasantries much longer. Dropping her smile Marlene planted her hand against the wall and leaned in ever so slightly.
"Listen Azaria, I don't kiss and tell. Even if I did, I wouldn't tell you. You think I'm some big blood traitor and I'm sure you would be ecstatic to out my gentleman friend in front of all the Slytherins. I'm not going to let you do that. Now will you get the hell out of my way? I have a Charms quiz tomorrow."
Her nervous energy was replaced with cool confidence as she waited for the witch's reply.
Marlene shifted uncomfortably, desperate to escape the piercing glare of the witch before her. Taking a deep breath, she struggled to come up with a lie that would get her safely back up to Gryffindor tower. Putting on what she hoped passed for a sheepish smile, Marlene...

Lily and Marlene Bonding <3
Marlene paced around the dormitory, really it was more like stomping but that sounded terribly unladylike. She was mad. Madder than mad she was furious. Just thinking about her sodding brothers made her want to punch a wall. She settled for kicking her trunk instead. However, in her rage she forgot that her trunk was quite solid and reinforced with some sort of metal, and in kicking it, it kicked back. Gasping in overdramatic pain Marlene  hopped about, holding onto her wounded foot. In her precarious and bouncing state she slipped on one of her discarded blouses and proceeded to sprawl quite unladylike onto the floor, hitting her head in the process. Woosily, Marlene sat up and imagined little blue birds circling about her head. Just as she was waving them off, she caught sight of a tall red bird staring at her with a raised eyebrow.
"Hiya Lils, you missed my dazzling feat of klutziness."

Marlene shifted uncomfortably, desperate to escape the piercing glare of the witch before her. Taking a deep breath, she struggled to come up with a lie that would get her safely back up to Gryffindor tower. Putting on what she hoped passed for a sheepish smile, Marlene launched into what might have been her worst excuse ever.
“Oh. Ha, well you see I was with a certain gentleman friend of mine when I got my robes a tad bit soiled.” She leaned in conspiratorially, “So he was kind enough to to lend me some clothes. After a bit of shenanigans of course.” Marlene winked and moved back gesturing wildly with her hands. “So you see I’d love to get back to my dorm and into my own clothes. If you don’t mind I’ll just get out of your hair.” She slowly moved to the wall, anxiously trying to get around Azaria.
Only a few more feet and I’ll be free!
Marlene felt the faint tug of her poly juice potion wearing off. Frantically, she tried to hide the wisps of blonde hair that were starting to mingle with rapidly disappearing black tresses. She pushed the boy in front of her down onto the bed and straddled him, bending...

Marlene felt the faint tug of her poly juice potion wearing off. Frantically, she tried to hide the wisps of blonde hair that were starting to mingle with rapidly disappearing black tresses. She pushed the boy in front of her down onto the bed and straddled him, bending towards him she whispered in his ear, "Close your eyes baby, I want to try something new." Straightening, she watched Mulciber close his eyes and smirk, totally unknowing of who she really and what she was about to do to him. With a sneer of disgust, Marlene withdrew the wand hidden in her cloak. After a quick murmured incantation and a flick of her wand, he was frozen in place. Moving swiftly, for she could feel the potion's effects were nearly gone, Marlene ran over to where she had seen him discard his wand. Another spell cast, Mulciber would regret cursing Mary that was for sure, his wand would not be his friend for a while. Now with Azaria's features completely gone, and her revenge taken, Marlene ran like hell from the Slytherin dungeon, practically flying up the stairs and into the hall. On the very last step, she tripped and stumbled into the very last person she wanted to see. Azaria.
Fuck.
Marlene froze in place, staring at the witch completely shocked and utterly unsure of what the hell she should do. She pushed back her hair and forgetting whose robes she was wearing, tried to smile.
"Hi, er, Azaria..."
The moon is a day or two shy of being full, so when Azaria first left the castle, it was not all that dark, despite it being well past curfew. When she entered the Forbidden Forest, however, the hope of any light vanished quickly. The trees were grown close together, thick all around her even as...
