gas tank clean
As Mathiopoulos was fixing carburetors he noticed some dirt in the bowls. So in search of an expert to clean the tank i found this mehod described as 1st stage:

so i send it to Thessaloniki to Tassos. The tank came back cleaned inside and in addition with a clear coat to the colour, just to look a little brighter.

same problems again
So i still have the same problems with my Kawasaki. 1)Fixed the oil leak from head cover but not from head 2) the carburetor still leak 3) the carburetors work well at high rpm but at not at low. So we agreed with Mathiopoulos to give it another attempt.

Well No 3 problem still existed (3. smell of gasoline ) although Mathiopoulos did the best he could and we changed almost everything. More specific the outer right carburator was leaking a brown colour gasoline.

In addition we fit new battery and new regulator/rectifier


Once again in the previous repair Mathiopoulos even called an expert called Dimos, to repair the electrical system but still the bike was making less from 13 volts and now after Ilias changed the battery and rectifier and did some work in the cables, gained one volt.

new fork seals and bushings and we choose to put 15w oil with slightly more than it is written in manual, for a more stiff feeling

Also the forks and yokes went to frame straighten shop

just in case but it proved that they were slightly bent.
Perfect now!

The result is just right. Forgot to mention that the bottom tubes were changed too. They even have original kawasaki sticker on them.

seat restore



Since OEM seat or cover is not available, i had already bought from ebay replica seat cover and seat foam. The guy from seloepiskevi.gr did the job of put them together in the original pan and make a seat as close to the original as it could get.

carburators
carefully cleaned
change all four pilot jets with new genuine ones
powder coated bowls
rebuild kit and genuine kawasaki fuel tap





install the carburators after rejetting them with bigger main jets
but bigger jets need more air and the genuine air filter went to rubbish as it’s to small
so the air box is slightly modified in order to fit a KN Filter

pistons decarbonated
in order to eliminate pre ignition knockings lowering the combustion ratio is needed
wiseco high comression pistons have some sharp edges which have been lowered as the people in fb kz elr group also suggested
mathiopoulos did a great job with pistons
he even weighed them as they have to be the exact same weight
thicker gasket also lowered the compression a bit

Restoring my Z (2nd attempt)
When i had my z restored for the first time some things hadn’t been fixed.
In the engine the problems that were present from the begining were:
1. pre ignition knocking
2. oil leak from head and combustion gasket
3. smell of gasoline
4. not climbing above 7.500 rpm
5. noises maybe from chain and valves
So i visited another mechanic early January this year

Mathiopoulos is an experienced mechanic with lots of wins in Dragster Championship


This is the current motorcycle he is racing without the engine which is based in Hayabusa motor and is being prepared at the momment.

Τελικά αυτό που λένε στην μοτοσυκλέτα όπου κοιτάς έκει θα πας βγήκε για μένα.
όταν το παλαίο 1995 κοίταγα αυτές τις εικόνες δεν είχα ιδέα ότι κάποια στιγμή, ο ίδιος άνθρωπος που μετέτρεψε σε πύραυλο το μηχανάκι, θα έκανε την επισκευή, τις ρυθμίσεις και τα ζιγλκερώματα στην δική μου μοτοσυκλέτα.
Υ.Γ. Το άρθρο αναφέρει ότι το χέρι του στο πλαίσιο έχει βάλει ο Μπρατάκος. Τώρα ότι έχει επιμεληθεί και το δικό μου πλαίσιο είναι σύμπτωση?
