✯ The news come and Maya can only sigh at the new tirade by the city’s problem manchild.
✯ “You know, that guy is always whining about how everything is meaningless and pointless, but he pretty much brings that to himself by being too powerful for the police or any other authority to handle. A weak loser with no chances of societal victory my butt!”
✯ Solution: Nerf Kumagawa, obviously.

A part of her wanted to ask if Maya had a phone with a GPS before considering that this place was hard enough to get around even with one in the first place. The only places Riku could think that a hospital would be would be either Little Tokyo or somewhere on the middle floors of Fibbonaci. To be perfectly honest, she really didn’t know since she patched up all her wounds at home, save for that time she was severely injured. Ugh…why didn’t she pay attention when leaving the area?!
“The best place I can think of is…Little Tokyo. But we’re going to have to get there decently fast if we want to get your arm examined. And the only thing we’ve got is my motorcycle since getting jostled by the pubic transportation would make it worse.”
This time she’ll make sure to actually take note of the hospital this time.
✯ "Wait, motorbike? Riku, I need both arms to be able of holding your while you drive. I can't do that with a broken arm!" Besides, Little Tokyo is quite far from here. Sure, they are in Cotes, but even so there is a good chunk of city before that area. Not to count that, just inside Little Tokyo itself, there should be more than one hospital - it's huge, after all!
✯ Fortunately, Maya has a better idea. "How about we use my Lodestar instead? It's inside my purse over there. All you have to do is to type a word and it'll holographically display all locations with some connection to it! So, if you typed 'hospital' in it, for example, it should show the closest thing from here! Smart, no?"

Well at least that meant he wouldn’t have to be running after a guy who has no idea what he’s doing- again. And he got a name from the girl too. Honestly the name sounded like a fictional character’s name but considering where he was it it wasn’t much of a surprise.
“I’m fine with Detective Work. Honestly I work better in the field or in researching then anything else.” He…really didn’t trust himself with cleaning up for big groups of people, he could barely micromanage his own work space and room.when unaware in ‘the zone’.
“So, what’s this El Melioi guy like?”
✯ "You mean like, physically? Well, he's tall, lanky, has a long black hair, Caucasian features, usually wears a red coat. Oh, he is also constantly smoking. I always open the office's windows when I arrive so that the air can circulate. Otherwise we'd die intoxicated there!"
✯ Honestly, if it depended on Maya, she'd ban smoking forever. She can't really see the appeal of it. If you wanna relax, wouldn't a delicious burger be way more effective?!
✯ "The agency's website should tell you how to format the employment form. I'm sure that mr. El-Melloi would appreciate some extra hands there!"

He’s used to people getting flustered at his face by now, so Gao Changgong simply waits until the girl recovers her senses. Thankfully, it doesn’t take her long.
“Ah I see, then I’ll go over there.” He follows her to the wall of fortunes with some trepidation. God knows how terrible his life has turned in the past few months, but it couldn’t get any worse, right? He reaches out to take one of the slips at random.
“…..”
“Oh, this…”
With trembling fingers, he raises the slip so she can see the words written on it too:
「大凶」
“I can’t be sure, but…”
"This doesn’t look very good, does it?”
No, it’s the worst of the worst.
✯ A shiver goes down her spine as Maya sees that fortune. She is aware enough of the shrine's logistics to know that they only produce very few units of the 'worst luck' paper. Which means...
✯ "Q-Quick! Put that on that tree!" With her voice trembling as much as his fingers, Maya points to a tree where several pieces of paper similar to Gao's hang from its branches. "Let the tree take that bad luck, otherwise who knows what might expect you!!"
✯ She might not directly work as a priestess and have a quite materialistically pragmatic view of the world, but that didn't mean that Maya didn't hold Shinto beliefs to her heart. And said beliefs told her that a paper like that can only bring terrible misfortune.

❝Hmm, that’s definitely strange for a new oven…❞ The boy smirked at Maya’s remark before replying. ❝I promise I won’t make too much of a mess!❞
The oven was now fully heated and ready for him to observe. He carefully opened the door, making sure not to burn himself as he looked at the inside mechanics. After a minute or so of observation, he finally figured out what was wrong with the baker’s oven. Hoisting himself up, he turned the oven off and turned to tell Maya the news.
❝Hey, Maya!❞ He shouted across the counter as to get her attention. ❝It looks like your bake element short-circuited, so I’m going to have to replace it. The repair shouldn’t take too long to do…we should be able to get this baby up and running within 15 minutes!❞
✯ "Whoa, you already figured it out?!" She too shouts from afar, conveniently turning away from the client she was attending just now. "That's great news! Call me when you are done there!"
✯ The client soon clears their throat, reminding Maya of her current duty. "Oops! Sorry about that, sir. I'm dealing with some technical problems today, you see. Gotta keep my bakery up and running, you know?"
✯ Once she is done with this person, Maya sighs. Whew, handling a business is sure a stressful thing!

She certainly had another point, “definitely, it’s hard keeping up so many payments and then adding food and other needs. But then again, generators sure are a necessity too, aren’t they?”
✯ "No, you don't get it! It was a post apocalyptical scenario! There were no bills to pay, because there was no government. Buildings were in ruins and all natives seemed more like zombies than human beings. And then, after a monster invasion, it got fixed in a matter of minutes!"

Praying followed by horror movies. She’s something else, Maya is. He can’t imagine doing anything but moping in peace and quiet, and makes a move to say so, when her words stop him.
He cocks his head, slows his breathing.
“…Kind of…”
✯ Okay, so it wasn't just her. It's hard to discern it among the crowd, but she thinks she saw someone who'd match the voice. Before she can pinpoint the source, though, something splashs on the water. A couple boats topple down as a figure emerges from the ocean.
✯ "Look at that guy! How disrespectful to mess around with hard worked boats like that!" In fact, didn't the police forbid seabathing during the festival? Also... There is something weird about the person coming out of the water.
✯ Wait, correction, people. It's not just one or two. There are several people coming out of the water. By now, all other chatting has ceased while watching the bizarre scene. "H-Hey, what is that?"

Ah. Helpful. It wasn’t surprising they were on completely different wavelengths, but maybe he could fix that. “Why don’t we look around? Someone may look important enough, or something might explain their system.” A Beginner’s Guide to Following Onoman Practices?
Dune stepped forward, collecting another book. The contents were different, but not yet explaining what she hoped for. He turned in place, still looking down at the words. “I don’t believe you need to become a convert to find this useful,” he said, then glanced back at her.
“Everything strange ties in to something here. While we can understand the past better by reading about those figures, have you considered we might also be more prepared for the future?”
✯ "Hmmm, that's not really my point." Maya points out. "I don't care whether they have priests or shamans or Spaghetti Monster cultists! I just wanna know information about this one guy who might be meddling with shady stuff!!"
✯ As soon as she finished that sentence, Maya covered her mouth. Dang, she spoke too loud. This could put her job on jeopardy! ...Fortunately, everyone else seems too enthralled with their prayers. Dune is the only one actually paying attention to her.
✯ "Uhhhh... Please keep that a secret, ok?" She whispers to him, all while checking left and right for suspicious people. "I'm sure that there are lots of interesting stuff to learn about Onoma, but unless it becomes clear that they have anything to do with this case, I'd rather stay focused, you know?"

✯Open: We All Live in a Turnabout Submarine (Event)
✯ According to the Spirale GO app, Maya’s copy was to be found at the Swirling Gulf, one of the recently revealed areas surrounding the city. Well, that seemed good enough for her. Truth be told, she’s done this dance enough times that she isn’t super stressed about this situation - beyond the suffering that virus must be causing to her poor copy, of course. It’s a new area to explore, and maybe have fun after a successful day of copy hunting!
✯ That iiiiiiis... if she can get there. Having to rush to locate your copy isn’t something only Maya has to do, and with the limited space at the subbies and water taxis, it’s been hours since she has been here, standing on the line to embark one of those.
✯ If only she had someone else to share a taxi with, maybe... Aha! That’s it! “Hey, you there!” She calls someone else at the waiting line. “How about we share one of these? You wanna get underwater ASAP too, no?”

“It’s a date then!”
It’d been so long since they’d watched anything that wasn’t an isolaflix documentary. Changing things up would be nice for a change… that is, as long as this group didn’t mind copious amount of analysis and commentary.
“There was a saying when I was little… oh what was it again… We’ll netflix and thrill!” Akane laughed, crossing their arms with a laugh. “Just text me the details and we’ll sort it out with your friends then!”
✯ “Oh, yeah, excellent!” Maya claps her hands in joy, before a thought comes to her. “Wait, if this is a date, then Junpei will have to join you! Which, you know, wouldn’t be that bad. He has watched a couple seasons of the Steel Samurai before (thanks to me), so you two could chat about it between yourselves!”
✯ That, of course, would include the old time tradition of veterans teasing newcomers with spoiler-yet-not-a-spoiler commentaries. They’re a classic way of inducing a wide range of emotions on your friends.
✯ “Maybe we could do a Radiapp group for planning it up! You mind if I add you to one, Akane?”

❝Looks like I arrived just in time!❞ Kirishima happily embraced her hug, which was just as warm as the sweet treats she bakes. Having the fate of the cookies in his hands made him slightly nervous, but he was excited to tackle such a major task at hand.
❝Ooo, that sounds nice!❞ Kirishima headed over to the ‘bad boy’ oven she was talking about and set his tool box next to it. He immediately delved into inspecting the broken appliance, with the thought of freshly baked cookies motivating him. Turning the oven on, he started to observe the heating elements to see if they were malfunctioning.
While the oven was heating up, he turned to Maya and asked some detective questions of his own. ❝Have you ever had any problems with this oven before today?❞
✯ “Hmmm, now that you mention...” She makes a thoughtful face. “There was this one time a month ago when it took an eternity for it to turn on properly. Like, to heat up at all, you know? But back then it was the whole oven at once that was being stubborn, not... whatever mess happened with its system now!”
✯ After she said this, Maya heard one of her employees to call for her at the shop’s front. “Whoops, looks like i’ve gotta handle another boss stuff. Can I trust you not to make a mess while I leave you alone, dear?”

She’s never been to this bakery before, but she’s heard good things about it. Charlotte figures it’s alright to treat herself just this once. She steps in and stands at the doorway, taking in her surroundings. Before long, she’s walking up to the counter.
“Hello! I’d like to try a soul bun, please.”
✯ “As you wish! A Soul Bun coming fresh out of the oven, just for you!” Charlotte is lucky, for Maya had indeed just finished baking a whole batch of them. Their green crispy crust looks so appetizing, so much that Maya feels tempted to eat one herself...
✯ But she can’t do it! Not until work time is over, at least. Profit has to be prioritize for her to sustain this business, after all.

Every now and then it was fun to check out new shops. As long as it fit within her budget, it was great to try something new. This time around, Youmu decided to try out a bakery. Looking around at the variety of goods on display before going to the counter as the customer before her left..
“Uh Hi. First time here. Would you have any recommendations for what to try?”
✯ Oh, a client! Maya rushes to the front as she hears the ring bell, a bright smile on her face. Hopefully she can make this person a regular. She’s in need of those.
✯ “Welcome! If this is your first time here, you would do good tasting one of my famous Soul Buns!” She points to a green, magatama shaped treat on the display. “There are also cakes, bread and eclairs available here, if you’d prefer them.”

He startled a bit when she turned to face him. Ah…he’s being scolded already and he still has no idea where he was.
Really it reminded him of Tipereth A a bit….maybe she was here somewhere. Fidgeting in place as she spoke to him, he gave a slightly delayed nod and said nothing aside from a few more quiet “sorry”’s. He was a bit robotic in his movements as he tried to pick up the fallen items.
As he did though, he seemed to be rather slow about it - not in the sense of dragging his feet because he didn’t want to. No, Tiphereth was examining everything. Honestly he seemed downright baffled at some of the grocery items, as if he’d never seen them before (well, he hadn’t). Though he seemed specifically interested in the makeup kit, tilting his head when he went to pick that up first and foremost, finally speaking back up.
“…What…is this? ” Well, that explains a lot. “….I don’t think I’m supposed to be here….I don’t know how I got here in the first place..”
✯ Maya grumbles to herself a bit more, hurriedly checking if each item is in place before putting it back to the bag. She takes a breath. This shouldn’t be making her this nervous. It’s just a bag, just groceries, and just that beautiful makeup kit that she has been drooling about for weeks...
✯ “Hey, careful with that!” She remarks, quickly grabbing the lid so that she might try closing the kit. In a bit, she takes the kit away from Tiphereth B. No part of the blushes and shadows have broken out, thankfully. “This is a makeup kit. It has makeup in it, stuff to make you prettier.”
✯ She could tell from his tone that he was confused, which is another reason why Maya is trying to breathe down. He doesn’t deserve her to be screaming at him, especially when he is clearly distraught by his current situation.
✯ “...I’m Maya, by the way. I can explain more about this place to you, if you want.”

His rigid pose went slack as he put his hands up in surrender. His menacing look melted into a smile, cockeyed and nervous as he realized he had obviously come off the wrong way. Right, he was used to that. Coming off the wrong way he meant, not the entire creeping on women thing; that was a totally unintentional byproduct of his bad decision. ❝ Okay, right, sorry, that was stupid, I know what that seemed like and I came off the totally wrong way. ❞ There was a slight shiver to his hands, yet he didn’t move them from their suspense. Newt didn’t want her to think he was going to make any sudden movements or anything, and he’d really rather not had spent all day outside and the cold and only gotten stabbed out of it. ❝ I’ve just been standing here all day in the cold, and you were the first person to come by and, Christ, this isn’t helping me seem like less of an assailant, is it? Just… Put the weapon down and I’ll explain myself, alright? ❞ The smile just made him look guilty, didn’t it? It was a nervous habit, he couldn’t help it! His body and mind only knew inappropriate responses to stress: pissiness, smiling and laughing in the wrong situations, uncontrollable sweating… He was, and always would be, a social disaster no matter the situation. The doctor sneezed, mucus running down his face. He was covered in snot, shivering, and looked like a mugger or worse. This was going great so far.
✯ “Uhuuuum... You just stood there, when there are a number of bars in the area you could have visited instead if you wanted to meet people, or maybe just ask for information. You’re either a shameless liar or very inept at outside behavior.”
✯ Then again, if he were lying, she would have gotten psyche-locks to appear in front of him, so the most plausible option is that he is, indeed, telling her the truth. She sighs, rubs her face with a hand, then guards the spear back.
✯ “Alright, I’ll give you a chance to explain yourself. You’d better not try anything funny, though. I know how to hit the really painful areas!”

Phoenix looks up from his sketchbook, glancing from Maya to the tray. Blue bread…? He’d been wondering about the loud noises and intense heat coming from the kitchen.
Sliding his art supplies to the side, he picks up a loaf of bread, trying to figure out if it’s safe to eat. While a lot of Maya’s ‘masterpieces’ are delicious, he’s had the misfortune to try a few of her… not so successful recipes.
He’s thankful for his job in the bakery, and Maya’s his best friend in the world, but being Maya’s official taste tester isn’t always the safest job.
“They’re very cute, but what’s in them, Maya?” He figures he should at least ask about the flavor before he eats one.
✯ “Hohoho, I’m glad you asked!” She smiles, before proceeding to grab a knife and cut one of the loaves in half. Turns out that the blue color is only on the loaf’s crust, with its interior being instead fluffy white with dozens of multi colored dashed spots.
✯ “I’ve covered the loaves’ surface with the same sort of sugar that you’d see in cotton candy, and before that I filled the dough with edible sprinkles, making them seem like the raindrops just waiting to leave the cloud. I bet that one bite of these bad boys will bring a downpour of flavor into your mouth!”
✯ She seems so eager to have come up with this idea. She is sure that it’ll be a new success! “Now c’mon, take a bite!”

He returns the bow automatically, a habit ingrained by years of working his way up in the family company, then slogging his way through various low-paying service jobs. Still, the motion is impeccably graceful, and there’s a princely air to the straight set of his shoulders and jaw as he straightens up.
“I apologize for the disturbance.” He’s beginning to wonder whether he came on the wrong day.
“But I was hoping to make some offerings…or maybe draw a fortune slip? Sorry, I’m not very clear on how these things work…”
He knows there are donations involved though, so he has his Dust app up and ready.
✯ Gosh, look at how graceful he is with a simple bow! It’s not just his face - everything about him is so elegant is beautiful! Maya has to admit, it’s very rare finding someone this skillful on the art of grace. Speaking of personal experience, she doesn’t see the effort needed to be like that worth it, so seeing someone who did put their effort on that is, well, quite impressive.
✯ ...Wait, she is losing focus. Back to reality, Maya! “A-Ah... Right, right! Offerings, fortunes! Yes, w-we do have those here, hahaha!!”
✯ This is rather embarrassing. Perhaps she’ll feel better if she doesn’t directly look at Gao. Yeah, that might work. She guides him to the wall where several fortune slips hang. “There. Feel free to pick one!”
