simple advice and tips to incorporate into your daily life 🫂

be realistic with your mornings. i know some of you struggle to wake up every day at 5am just to revise/study, etc! please try to get get enough sleep and wake up more realistic times (i know this may vary depending on what time you need to be in school etc but you get my point!) there is no point of you forcing yourself to study while you are still tired you won't be able to process the information as well so what's the point?

revise (+ obviously take breaks) there's nothing worse then entering your examination hall knowing you haven't revised.. to prevent from happening please revise! it's super beneficial for you education and being aware that you know & understand all of the topics is such a confidence booster!

drinking water. drinking water is important? woah what a shocker! drinking water is sooo important so drink as much water as you can! and if you don't like going to the school bathrooms for whatever reason try to drink a lot of water at home and go to the bathroom before you leave for school!

eat consistently. food is also really important! you know the saying, a car can't travel if there's no fuel! i know it may be hard to eat. im in recovery, so i totally understand the hesitantance to not eat, but please try to eat something. even if it's small portions, it can help.

pack your bag and check your timetable the night before. you will be so grateful in the morning knowing you won't have to run around looking for things and if you know what lessons you have the next day you'll know what things you need to pack

use your brain. silly i know but it's important! do cross words, read a couple pages of a book you've been meaning to read, do a sudoku etc just things to get you thinking. avoid using ai! first of all it's not good for our planet and a study found it makes you less intelligent

finally, don't be hard on yourself. do things u enjoy it's okay to have your bad days and struggle to do things. life happens, and that's fine. there's always other days xx

ok so i quit my MBA and switched to an MS in environmental policy, and there is like. a substantial reduction in the number of people using chatgpt lmao. in the MBA program, there would be entire strings of discussion posts in unusual fonts with the tell-tale bold headings over each topic for emphasis (ARE YOU SERIOUS?). in these ENV courses i'm seeing people with genuine, not-strictly-correct grammatical quirks, there's no bold headings, nobody's using non-default fonts, things feel natural and peer-to-peer...man i hate business majors lol.

A mess of notebooks and papers. I've taken to organizing them in multiple piles across my floor. Somewhere slowly functionality over aesthetics has taken over life. My various fragile and beautiful fountain pens swapped for a sturdy indestructible rotring 600 ballpoint. Beautifully kept notebooks exchanged for loose sheets of paper flouncing around. To some extent, I do miss the enforced slowness of the other tools. At the same time, I've always had an aesthetic obsession which has often been suffocating. It has been nice to let go.
