Unrelated but damn I nearly fell back to sleep but luckily caught it so I could clock into work. Also turns out two people are out today. Gonna be one of those days I guess.

Day three of the train trip. Not gonna break this up into proper paragraphs because I just woke up.

Would have updated yesterday buuuut yeah I get motion sickness pretty bad. It wasn't that bad day 1. Mild headache and nausea. But the thing with being on a train verse car or plane is that it is a long time (like a car) but inescapable (like a plane) those two combined meant that my yesterday afternoon was a fucking nightmare. Morning? Absolutely gorgeous. No notes. Even got some cross-stitch done. The afternoon? I'm very glad I brought my emesis bags. What saved me was the fact that we unexpectedly stopped a full hour in Minot, ND and I was able to go into town, find a gas station, and get some Tylenol for the headache and Dramamine for the nausea. Saved my fucking life. I also made a calm music playlist for me to listen to last night to drown out train noises, especially since my seat is right before the observation car so there's people going in and out of there.

I'll at least be able to survive today and recover tomorrow.

there’s been a really bizarre trend in the past couple years of TERFS/radfems getting pissed off about biology posts. posts about the bilateral gyandromorph cardinal (one half male, one half female), posts about older hens beginning to crow and act like roosters, posts about animals being animals. and it’s hilarious because they interpret these posts as some kind of agenda. no! these are animals not choosing any gender identity or sexuality but being born into bodies they have no control over. weird how that happens in nature huh

Oh man, so I've been working off and on a personal project because a song gripped me SO HARD regarding an AU RP scenario I did in the Hazbin Hotel fandom. And this was like a big RP plotline with a bunch of people over nearly a year's worth of work. And like... I have aphantasia so I can't just see this animatic but I can vibe it, but that wasn't good enough.

Now, I don't have the patience to learn art. So I figured I'd make a stick figure/storyboard version of it to use as guidelines so that as I get money to do so, I can commission people to do the different stills of it and smash them together (any involved artists would be credited in the final thing and be told the intended purpose for individual pieces).

But wouldn't you fucking know it, by doing this I realized that it's making me learn things about art! Lmao. Anyway, I'm excited to finally actually SEE certain aspects of the RP I was doing for so long, even in this form! I may post some shots I like in a reblog or something.

Does anyone know if getting motion sickness in the care bodes well for a 2+ day trip via train? Because I read somewhere that it's better for people with motion sickness but I'm not sure and it seems sus.

If that's the case I'm gonna be fighting for my LIFE this coming weekend.

And if course that's all for pre-tumblr internet. While I wasn't old enough for it myself, I worked in archive that has an entire warehouse of physical fandom zines. Mostly Trek from the 60s to the 80s. If you want to talk about peak fandom, can't forget about them.

All that aside, I think something that may be a factor is that on places like Tumblr and other social media, it's very much a melting pot in that the free-flow movement between fandoms means that any toxic activity happening in one very easily spans into others. I wasn't much on live journal or the like, but I was on various forums as a kid. Things were very organized and separated out. And you weren't even on the hub page in the first place unless you were in that fandom. And you didn't REALLY talk about other things since we're here to talk about THIS thing (except for threads about general stuff, but again those were dedicated spaces within the dedicated space of the fandom forum). And on top of that, there were moderators that kept people behaving in the first place.

But without moderators and without boundary walls quarantining toxic behavior, it really let this sense of roaming gangs yelling at each other to establish some sort of dominance.

That's my take at least.

Sometimes you realize that adulthood is waiting all day in anticipation to go to the store to get a couple of headbands. Like legitimately look forward to it.

Where we have moved to has no central AC which is fine except when it gets into the 90s. The heat I can deal with. Fan on, window open, etc. EXCEPT FIR THE FACT THAT THE FAN BLOWS MY HAIR WHISPS ACROSS MY FACE AND KEEP ME UP AT NIGHT. I was going to borrow a cloth headband from someone but then I remembered I have a small head so I'll need to potentially get a child's one.

I have small hands, small feet, and a small head. Things can be challenging.
