jatuh cinta itu biasa saja

the first time i heard this phrase was in a song by efek rumah kaca from their self-titled album. i love every line of the lyrics. although, to this day, i still don’t know if "jatuh cinta itu biasa saja" is Cholil Mahmud's personal take on love or if it’s more of a suggestion.

but i agree with him, jatuh cinta memang biasa saja. i don’t feel that overwhelming rush when i fall in love. there's no urge to chase, fear of losing them, or even jealousy. it’s not that i don’t genuinely like them—i do. i still try to be a good partner, i want them to be happy with me. it’s just, for me, being left by someone you love isn’t something that needs to be blown out of proportion. the sadness will be there, ofc, but it’s temporary. to me, if they leave, then they’re simply not the one, and i'll move on with my life as it was.
