Cliques in fandom are a pest and even worse are the ppl desperately trying to join said clique by sucking up to its members. It ALWAYS gets to these ppls heads. Becoming a ~celebrity~ in a fandom either comes from creating fanworks or being a "big personality" (posts about hcs they treat as canon, reposting hot takes, inflammatory callout posts, blanket accusations towards parts of the fandom, implementing 'rules' for the fandom...). The latter NEVER ends well. They create their own fandom within the fandom, amassing more and more influence, being increasingly more comfortable with publically calling out ppl they accuse of being problematic until they too die the unavoidable heatdeath of cancellation bc they inevitably say something tonedeaf or someone digs up some problematic old post. And then everyone acts like they never supported them in the first place, how everyone ALWAYS knew they were a bad person, how this is a symptom of bigotry in the fandom etc etc etc. This has happened in almost every fandom ive been in and it will continue to happen, so atp i strictly avoid bloggers that show even the slightest evidence of a starting personality cult.

And it starts with ppl referring to ppl they arent even friends or close with by name.

One thing ive learned from over 15 years in fandom: dip out as soon as ppl refer to each other by first name.
