“Ahhhh there she is the queen herself” she heard as she opened the door it was Mr. O one of the elders that worked here, he was from Africa his real name is Odoemene but I’m sure after having to correct people daily he accepted Mr. O. But not me I always addressed him by his name with a smile. “Good Morning Mr. Odoemene, how are you today” “better now that you’re in the office today” he said with a grin. One thing about Mr. O pleasantries was his thing and respect was his number one rule. “You’re always so kind to me, and so happy every morning, I can always count on you to brighten my day” “heh your words are touching let me call my wife tell her I’m leaving” lol we both laughed “how is the queen of the kingdom” “ahh, she’s well not too good after surgery but home roots and some love she’ll be back to good” “I’ll say a prayer for her, tell her I said hello” Denise said in return. Denise has known Mr O for almost her entire life, Mrs. O was her after school dance teacher also where she met her best friend Adea who is their daughter. As Denise walked into her office checked her emails she still kept feeling off. As Denise was slipping into a daze she heard a faint knock at the door “Knck knock” it was Terrance once of the other after school teachers he volunteers here occasionally during the week to help out with whatever the kids needs. It’s admirable because black man helping just because it paints a good picture for the boys here vs what’s popular. “You know you don’t know have to say knock knock when you actually knock right” lol they both laughed “listen I have a black mama both always safer than none”. True she thought, “what can I do for you today Mr. T” Mr. T was athletic build short dark skin short cut couldn’t tell him he wasn’t on the GQ cover daily, he also dressed the part unless it was field day. “I was thinking of some new things to bring to the building for the kids wanted your input” “sure thing shoot” “what do you think about teaching them archery”
“Archery” Denise shot back. “Terrence what white woman were you with last night? Where did that come from” . Terrence rolled his eyes and replied “First of all she’s mixed as he smirked at what seemed to be a flashback and it wasn’t her idea, I figured it’ll be something different and fun”
“Well I’m not totally against it but I’m also not for it, you know these kids next thing you know community trying to shut us down because, Jace is shooting arrows in corner stores” they both laughed at the idea “but don’t get me wrong I think it’s a good plan how about we do it for the older kids make it a treat and see where we go” “see I knew you’d perfect this this is why you’re the boss” said Terrance. “I am no one’s boss we work together never forget it” Denise actually despised being called a boss for the idea and notion that comes with it in the workplace. We are equals here no one is better than the next and setting a foundation up like that for Denise was not favorable.
As the morning began to slow down Denise could not shake this feeling. She asked Terrance has he heard from all the kids and if everyone was ok. “Yeah, well I mean you know I mute the group chat because these kids don’t sleep”
“Oh shit” “oh shit” Denise eyes grew wide “oh shit what” Terrance looked stuck. Denise started to have a panic attack say wth you gotta say before I hurt you”
“I’m sorry Ms. D I didn’t even know the kids sent this video to the chat last night” Denise began to get confused what video I knew something was off.
Denise snatched the phone from Terrance what she saw had her utterly shattered

Beautiful hot spring day in NYC, kids playing music blaring fog heat wave lingering in the air. All Denise could think of was going to the gym and having a nice calm breakfast at the waterfront. Perfect day for it, but this is NYC time to head to work. Before moving to her dream city Denise was so bright eyed and excited about every aspect of life. Now she finds herself questioning her moves what once seemed like a dream is slowly becoming a questionable direction. Although she has her dream career it’s something about things lately that’s making her lose her spark. “I’ll be damned” Denise said out loud before she realized she drifted in thought about what’s happening. But despite what’s going on in that gorgeous head of hers Denise walked into the office, with her head held high. 5’7 caramel, glowing skin almond eyes and an amazing shaped body she refuses to acknowledge she has.
Denise currently runs a community based organization that provides resources to communities we say forgotten about by the government. She decided to open this center when she realized how disadvantaged things were from a communal standpoint once going off to college. Once she noticed how bad things were she was determined to return and share all knowledge and resources.
But today was different for her, she couldn’t quite put her finger on it but that energy shift is happening she needed it but didn’t know which way it was going.
