Chapter Summary: 

“George,” Kimi interrupts abruptly, physically placing a hand over George’s mouth to quiet the turbulent flow of his thoughts. His fingers smell like the garlic he’s just chopped, and George resists the urge to dart his tongue out for a taste. “Just shut up for a minute.” Then, before George can think of an adequate response, Kimi backs George up against his kitchen island and slides to his knees in front of him. “Oh God, Kimi, you don’t have to–” George starts, but he finds he’s immediately cut off again. “Aht. I thought I told you to shut up.” Kimi’s voice is sharp, but his expression is playful as he quirks an eyebrow up at George from where he kneels on the dark hardwood. “You need to relax, George. I’m going to help with that.”

Summary: 

“So, how d’you want to celebrate your first podium?” George would usually be more discreet than this, he thinks as he leans into the shell of Kimi’s ear on the steps down from the podium, but he finds he can’t help himself. He hasn’t been able to stop grinning since passing the checkered flag – about his own win, yes, but also out of giddy excitement for Kimi, a kind of secondhand pride that he can’t ever remember feeling towards another driver outside of the handful of times Alex has managed to drag his Williams into a grid spot it had no business inhabiting.

Also, in honor of my first ever in-person race weekend as an actual fan (I did get dragged to Barcelona 2023 before I actually knew any of these men existed)…

Here I am “flaunting my bump” as the terrible tabloids say (you can’t see it as much from the front, but it’s very much there… almost to third trimester!) in Grandstand 1. If you’re also at the track this weekend and see me and my shirt, feel free to say hello! I’m the horrendously sunburnt one who probably looks confused by her own constantly shifting center of gravity.

And as a bonus, my husband in his Bottas shirt living his best Canadian tourist life with a heaping order of poutine and a Molson (which I did try a micro-sip of and thoroughly enjoyed). 🍺
