Mercedes nodded as she pulled away. She wiped her eyes and sighed. "Thanks Sam, I am not supposed to be crying like this but I can't believe he actually left. Thank you for staying even though you don't have too." She gave him a small smile as she walked over the counter and grabbed his phone. She looked down to her stomach and held it. " We are gonna be ok sweetie. Mommy is here and we are gonna be ok." She whispered softly.

Mercedes stared at Sam, she could see he was serious and she appreciated him for it. Mercedes turned and pulled Sam into a hug. She wrapped her arms around him homing him tightly. She wanted to say thank you but the moment she opened her mouth all she could do was sob. She wasn't weak, and didn't like to be perceived as weak, but this really did hurt her. And she really was thankful for Sam.

Mercedes shook her head. "Sam this is not your responsibility, this is Chris's and he decided to leave. You shouldn't be stuck with me just because I was stupid enough to get knocked up by him. I have been taking care of myself my whole life Sam, you should be focused on you, not us." Mercedes closed her eyes taking a deep breath. She could do this. She could raise this baby and give it all the love it deserved even if its father wasn't around.

Mercedes laughed. "Oh I am not angry I am pissed off. He left me Sam, after promising that he was going to be here for me and this child. Why should I be surprised though? Every body leaves." She closed her eyes knowing Sam was right and she needed to calm down. Her child needed her more than ever now. She looked up to Sam. "Its fine I will get over it like I always do. Just do me a favor let me find a place before you go kicking me out."

Mercedes grabbed the letter and read it out loud. "I'm sorry, I can't believe I am doing this but I am just not ready to be a dad. I don't want to leave you Mercedes I love you so much, but this is the best decision I can make as the father to that baby. You are amazing and I know that you and the baby will be fine, and the baby will be taken care of. Sam remember your promise. Mercedes I will miss you everyday. Chris." Mercedes balled up the note angrily and shook her head. "This isn't happening."

Mercedes stared at the half empty closet, it was like deja vu for her, going into her mothers room and seeing the closet empty. She closed her eyes praying she was wrong, but when she opened her eyes, Chris' stuff was still gone and the pain of being left hit her. She shook off the tears trying to control her emotions. Walking out of the room she looked over to Sam seeing him with a letter. "Did he really leave? Is that why you went with me? So he could leave?"

Mercedes walked into the apartment and nodded. "Sure I will wake him up then I will come back out here and help you with Lunch." Mercedes walked to the bedroom door but stopped and turned towards Sam. "Thank you Sam for everything. We are lucky to have you here." She gave him a small smile then walked in the room. She walked over to the bed but sighed seeing it was made. She noticed his watch and keys were gone. She sighed turning to walk out the room figuring he wasn't home yet, but she decided to change into something comfortable. She walked into the closet and stopped in her tracks noticing Chris's clothes were gone.

Mercedes stepped out of Sam's car and smiled. She had just left the doctors office and she was feeling really good about everything. She glanced down at the ultrasound once again. she was unable to stop looking at it. That was her baby, she would never let anything happen to it, never let anyone or anything harm her baby. She would love it more than her mom ever loved her. She sighed looking over to Sam. "Thanks for coming with me Sam. I know you didn't have too. I cant believe I am 15 weeks already. Everything is so real you know? Do you think Chris is excited?"

Mercedes pulled Chris to her and kissed him. “Chris you are doing right by me. And we will figure it out. We can put all my savings into a baby fund. My Checks can go to savings while yours can go to the bills. The baby can sleep in a crib in our room for at least two years so we don’t have to stress about that. Baby we are having a baby and I know we can do this. We have each other, and Sam said he would help. We can do this Chris. We can do this together. I love you so much Chris. We can do this, It will be hard but we can do this.”

Mercedes wiped her stomach as Dr. Shaw printing out the sonogram. She was going to be a mom. Her life was changing and she had to be prepared for it. After she was given her prescription and made an appointment for a few weeks from now She and Chris were headed back to his car. She buckled herself in and looked over to him. “Are you ok? I know this is a lot to take in.” She took his hand in hers. She squeezed his hand and smiled over to him.

“I didn’t even realize you were flirting I just thought you really wanted to sell me a phone. But stopping at your booth was the best decision for me because I got you out of the deal too. Chris I love you and whatever happens, we have each other.” She smiled as he kissed her forehead and the door opened. Dr. Shaw walked in and smiled. “So Mercedes we have your blood work back and you are pregnant. If you lay back we can see how far along you are.” Mercedes was shocked but did as the doctor asked. She covered her legs with the sheet given to her as Dr. Shaw worked on her. A few minutes later she was looking at her baby on the Ultrasound screen. She wanted to cry not because she was sad but because she was happy. It was a beautiful sight. “Ok looks like you are about 6 weeks.” Mercedes smiled widely, she couldn’t take her eyes off the screen. She was pregnant, she was going to be a mom.

Mercedes could tell Chris was freaking out. He has to be thinking about all the things that they couldn’t afford, all the things that they couldn’t do. She had the same thoughts but she knew they would be ok. As long as they had each other. Christ stood up and paced and she took his hand in hers as he sat back down. “Chris they are busy you never go back on time just calm down.” She heard her name being called and she sighed standing. They were lead to a room where they drew her blood and told her to change into a gown. Mercedes did as asked and sat on th table. She knew Chris needed to take his mind off of everything. “Chris you remember when we met? I walked past your booth and you tried to sell me a phone. And even though I didn’t want one you convinced me to get a plan. And when I got home I had a text from you. It was sweet.”

Mercedes wasn’t sure what she wanted to happen at this doctor’s visit. She wasn’t ready for a baby but she was about 90 percent sure she was going to have one anyways. Talking to Chris and Sam helped her realize that if she was pregnant everything would be ok. She would be ok. She had never had anyone support her in her life and now to have Chris be there for her and Sam helping out, she finally felt like maybe her life was getting better. She never wanted her child to experience the pain she did. Her mom was a junkie who didn’t know who Mercedes dad was, Mercedes was put in foster care after she called 911 on her mother who OD’d on heroine. Mercedes had been in 12 homes from the time she was 8 until she aged out at 16. Now she finally felt like she had a family and she could accept anything that came along with it. She had just finished her hair when Chris came out. “Yeah give me five minutes. I’m not hungry anyways so afterwards would be better.” Chris walked out the room and Mercedes sighed putting her shoes on and closing her eyes. “Lord whatever happens, Please let it all work out.” She grabbed her back and left locking the door behind her. Once in the car, the ride to the doctors office wasn’t quite she was still in thought when Chris pulled up. After signing in she sat down looking around at the various stages of pregnancy that was presented in that room. Soon that could be her, growing a life inside of her,

Where: Doctor’s Office

What: Mercedes and Chris find out if they are going to have a baby.

To say that Chris was nervous was an understatement. He didn’t know what to do with himself all weekend. He knew that there was a good possibility that Mercedes was pregnant, but he wished that he had been more careful. He loved Mercedes a great deal and wanted nothing more to start a family with her, but he knew that they weren’t ready. They were struggling as it was. Sam has picked up more of the bills but he didn’t want that to fall on his cousin. He looked in the mirror and could see the dark circles around his eyes from lack of sleep. He was nervous all weekend and in a few hours they would find out if they are having a baby. Even though he was nervous, he wanted to be strong for Mercedes, or at least try to be. He finished taking his shower and getting dress. He walked out to his bedroom to see if Mercedes was ready. “Baby, are you ready? We have to be there in an hour. Did you eat anything? I ca probably make you some eggs and toast so you can eat something before we get there.” Sam paused and remember that sometimes doctors didn’t want you to eat before the appointment. “On second thought, scratch the eating idea, We’ll pick up something afterwards. I’m going to get the car ready. Just come out when you’re ready.” He left and started the car and pulled it around to the front of their apartment. He sat silently, heavily in thought while he waited for Mercedes to come out.

OOC: Based on Chris's thoughts, I think the thing that will cause a strain is the baby. I have a feeling he will start to freak out and maybe mess up a bit once her being preggers sink in. Not on purpose he will try. I can see mercy getting closer to Sam because he will be a better emotional support for her then chris. He seems scared and not ready to accept it in his thoughts. His answer was "maybe you aren't really pregnant". So yeah lol
