Hi, hello, I am still alive
Surprise-surprise! :D
As hinted in my previous post, I'm in the middle of doing a quick rundown of what is and isn't working on the original yolasite host, and determining which links are dead and which links are still active, what's salvageable and what's not. Lotta dead link stuff. D:
In the meantime, I'm sharing this fun screenshot that the official Yu-Gi-Oh! channel on YouTube used for doing livestreams of show re-runs. (And also dropping some ye olde Yu-Gi-Oh! shipping history on y'all in the process).
Tumblr media
Yep, the official channel put these two together as their thumbnail image. I think that's saying something. :3
Now for the ye olde Yu-Gi-Oh! shipping history:
Nowdays, the term "servantshipping" (Yami Yugi x DMG) gets associated with "vaseshipping" (Atem x Mana). Often times, "vaseshipping" was used if the setting was ancient Egypt specifically, and "servantshipping" was used if the setting was modern-day/current times.
But back then, there was a very distinct separation between Atem and Yami Yugi, as well as Mana and Dark Magician Girl.
The point being, at some point, "Atem x Dark Magician Girl" and "Yami Yugi x Mana" were also considered separate ships. Oddly, these never got their own ship names largely due to the shippins's rarity - though some fans have tried, it just didn't stick and for the life of me, I cannot remember the suggested names.
What I do remember is that whenever fanart or fanfiction popped up, it revolved around time-travel (such as Dark Magician Girl going back into the past to change history, or Mana jumping into the future).
Anyway, thought I'd share this little piece of obscure Yu-Gi-Oh! history before it gets truly lost to the sands of internet time.

Haha, this oldie vaseshipper still alive. I'm just busy. I do science research now (mostly stuff related to sterilization. 2020 was... a very interesting time in my life. ಠ‿ಠ)
I've been meaning to revisit the old merej-et site hosted on yola because I suspect there may be parts of it that are broken and irreparable (notably I no longer have my deviantART account; and even if I did, the old Flash widgets no longer work anyway so the embedded vaseshipping art from others might not be displaying right). It's just a bunch of mental gymnastics to go and try to re-find everything, possibly recode a bunch of stuff.
I haven't decided on how to proceed with all that yet. ლ(¯ロ¯"ლ)
Even if I'm not around as much, just know that a vaseshipper is one of the people kicking bacteria's butt the next time you have to medical appointment of some sort.
Good luck with grad school. I know how hard that can be having gone through that myself. I'm cheering you for your success and eventual graduation! (っ ᵔ◡ᵔ)っ ✧☆
How many vaseshipping accounts are there on tumblr nowadays? I barely see them!
Hi!
I’m not super sure I’m the right person you should be asking this. I am hardly on the app since Uni is a pain but I’ll answer as best as I can.
From what I’ve seen on my time on Tumblr is that @vaseshipghost is still active! Also @marbere occasionally posts Vaseshipping content in English & Spanish (plus she’s the author of incredible Vaseshipping fanfics)!
@askvaseshipping just came back from a long hiatus. So HOOORAY for that!
@merej-et is the OG Vaseshipper in the clurb. (lol in the clurb we all fam) They created an entire Vaseshipping website in the early to late 2000’s. However they’re not active anymore. But they did address this specific question of yours.
@vaseshippingformywholelive was very active on this app for a long time however their last activity was seven months ago so 💔
Hopefully they come back.
I try to be active on my end but Grad school is absolutely destroying me. It’s like I can’t even get a day off to just relax. I’m literally typing this as I eat my dinner at 12 AM cause I finally found time to eat. Just give me some time- end of June I believe- then I’m free. Just let me finish my coterm unless my coterm ends me first.
Haha jk, I need help & sleep :,)

The ancient Egyptian concept of the heart...
I thought I’d type up this fun vaseshipping article for the Valentine’s day weekend. ;)
Years ago, I designed a vaseshipping necklace for myself, with an Atem and Mana charm surrounding a small gold heart with a flower in it (upcycled from an earring whose partner got lost).
However, at some point, I lost the heart charm. And so I decided to use the loss as an opportunity to create a completely new charm, and do some research on how ancient Egyptian depicted hearts. And to my absolute surprise, the concept of the ancient Egyptian heart was designed in the shape of a VASE with handles.
It’s believed that the design is based off the anatomy of an actual heart, where the handles represent the blood vessels that flow in and out of the heart. For ancient Egyptians, the heart was also basically more-or-less where the soul, thoughts, wills, emotions, and whatever makes you “you”, resided.
Chances are that, at first thought, you’ll find the idea as amusing and intriguing, considering that the Atem-Mana pairing is referred to as vaseshipping. Certainly the connection of vase = heart is cute. But let’s take the concept a bit deeper: Imagine the vase as a representation of the heart of vaseshippers, containing the souls of our two fabled characters, as well all the thoughts, emotions, and ideas of these two characters together.
[ Of course you other vaseshippers may have your own take on this. Feel free to share yours. :) ]
By the way, here is the updated necklace with the new heart charm.
Tumblr media
My heart charm has a more flat bottom than your typical ancient Egyptian heart charm due to baking reasons. The (rather crudely done!) hieroglyphs on the heart charm translates to the verb mri “[to] love/desire/wish”. You can read it as “Atem loves Mana” or “Mana loves Atem”, depending on the direction you “read” the charms.
Happy Valentine’s Day, vaseshippers. ;D

Absolutely devastated to hear about the news today. YuGiOh has been a major contribution to my life and to many others since childhood. Without it, I wouldn’t be where I am today and meet some of the kindest friends in life. Rest well, Kazuki Takahashi. Thank you for everything https://www.instagram.com/p/CftNsC0vR6X/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

So perhaps it is a day late, but I wanted to do a winter holiday-themed special for the vaseshipping paper doll set. I didn’t want to do the generic Santa-suit set as the idea is often overdone, so here’s something more unique: a “Yule Holly King” Atem and “Snow Queen” Mana.
Yes, I will be sharing this costume set on the merejet website sometime later on when I’m not busy. (EDIT) set now available in the freebie section. :)

Vaccine Booster Headache gave me a Vaseshipping dream, whut? XD
Yeah, not kidding, I had vaseshipping dream after I went to bed early due to getting a headache from the COVID vaccine booster.
And darn this dream, albeit brief, was ridiculously cute.
So the basis of the dream was that Atem and Mana were in aged in their late 20s or 30s, living in ancient Egypt by some place near the Nile river by a set of palm trees and reeds where it was cool and breezy. Mana was still a mage, but Atem, for whatever reason my brain decided to make Atem a weapons-making master working at a forge for some reason.
And here Atem was, working at the forge indoors, making some kind of "master blade", and Mana comes in with their really cute 5 year old daughter (who resembles Mana but with violet eyes) after a day of grocery shopping at the food market, and Atem is just way overjoyed to see his daughter and picks her up, and the daughter is just giggling at being picked up by her strong father.

Are you still active? D:
Both yes and no.
Interest in vaseshipping started around 2005-2006, when the "Dawn of the Duel" season was finished in Japan and the dub was being aired overseas. Although it was a very rare ship, fans actively contributed to the ship for about a decade, which is pretty darn impressive.
But by 2018 and onwards, a lot of changes on the internet as a whole has led the vaseshipping fandom to wane (for example, changes in EU legislation affecting internet users under 16 years of age, major content sites such as Tumblr and deviantART undergoing huge overhauls). Also, the "Yu-Gi-Oh!" fandom as a whole is not as fervent as it used to be, so fans either didn't have as much time/energy to give, or maybe their interests shifted. I don't think I need to bring up the mess that is 2020 and it's psychological effects as a whole.
Overall, it's pretty hard to come up with new content, even if I wanted to. But I am still alive and kicking and will do the obligatory holiday reblogs.
Though I (along many other vaseshipping blogs) don't have much to share anymore, there a few blogs that do actively post vaseshipping content to this day. You may want to check out:

Hey guys, long time no see. I thought I’d share this piano arrangement I did recently, I guess as sort of an apology for not being too active for over a year. It’s not vaseshipping-related, but it is Yu-Gi-Oh! related, so I guess it’s something you might enjoy. The song is “Shadow Games” from the Yu-Gi-Oh! Movie soundtrack.

This headcanon works well if you consider the fact that (1) a lot of the older manga artwork of Yami Yugi feature him with red eyes instead of purple, and (2) Mana had blonde hair in the manga.

Aaaannnnd... I’m alive. That’s good. Still feeling pretty uneasy, so just make sure that merejet.yolasite.com is still on your bookmark list.
Hi Vaseshippers, I have some bad news
I noticed my blog doesn’t show up when I search my name on Tumblr. That is a very bad sign, and given the current state of Tumblr, there is a high possibility that this blog could be on the chopping block come December 17, 2018.
I was able to get the main website back up and running.
merejet.yolasite.com
If you are a deviantART user, you can also keep tabs on vaseshipping fanart at
deviantart.com/finalvirucide/favourites/38589215/merej-et
Please note: I will continue to reblog vaseshipping fanart on Tumblr of the blog survives, but if Tumblr decides to get rid of my blog, I’ve made the decision to not appeal for it.
The Yola version of merej-et was the very first and most comprehensive vaseshipping hub center, and it will always continue to be regardless of what happens (unless Yola tanks, Ra forbid!). So please keep the Yola version tabbed, or bookmarked, or RSS-feed-ed (is that even a word?) to ensure that you will always have a way to access to vaseshipping content collected from all corners of the internet.

@toadstool32 you are right. He IS a trophy husband. (But who wouldn’t want to show off such a cute and dorky man?) 😚
Lol. I REALLY wanted to draw Atem and Mana slightly aged. So here ya go. They’re supposed to be in their mid to late 30s.
