3 Maneras de Compartir de Jesús Durante la Crísis del COVID-19

El mundo ha caído en pánico mientras que el COVID-19 arrasa con el globo. En sólo pocos meses, el virus ha hundido economías enteras, infectado a más de 212,000 personas, y robado más de 8,700 vidas.* En respuesta, los gobiernos han tomado medidas drásticas para cambiar el rumbo de esto, y el mundo ha sido arrasado por un torbellino de ansiedad.

Es imposible evitar temporadas de pandemia y desastre. Nadie puede detener la mano de la naturaleza. Pero, ¿cómo podemos compartir la esperanza de Dios en tiempos de temor como este? En este artículo, quiero sugerir tres maneras:  

Demuestra la paz de Dios

Aborda la transitoriedad de la vida.

Proclama la seguridad de la vida eterna en Jesucristo

Demuestra la Paz de Dios

Primero, nosotros podemos compartir la esperanza de Dios en tiempos de crisis al demostrar la paz de Dios. Dios le ha ofrecido a todo creyente un descanso inquebrantable:

“No se inquieten por nada; más bien, en toda ocasión, con oración y ruego, presenten sus peticiones a Dios y denle gracias. Y la paz de Dios, que sobrepasa todo entendimiento, cuidará sus corazones y sus pensamientos en Cristo Jesús.” (Filipenses 4:6-7 NVI)

En esta hora, mientras que todo el mundo parece vociferar en temor, debemos seguir esta promesa más que nunca. Mientras que los demás entran en pánico, nosotros debemos orar. Mientras que los demás anuncian el desastre, nosotros debemos confiar en Dios. Mientras que otros esperan lo peor, nosotros debemos esperar lo mejor. Muchos llaman a los Cristianos “la consciencia de la nación.” En este momento, debemos actuar como los pulmones de la nación, ayudando a aquellos alrededor nuestro a respirar profundo y confiar en el Creador que nunca deja que los pajaritos caigan al piso sin que Él lo permita (Mateo 10:29).

Piensa en eso. A medida que la cuarentena avanza alrededor del mundo, miles de padres están en sus casas con sus hijos no creyentes (y viceversa).  Piensa en cuántos adolescentes rebeldes están atrapados en casa y que antes pasaban la mayoría de las noches con sus amigos no creyentes. Piense cuántos ahora deben desarrollar relaciones con miembros de la familia que alguna vez evitaron. Aún si no estás en cuarentena, estas viviendo en un mundo aterrador. COVID-19 es una una niebla espesa y oscura sobre la Tierra — pero ha presentado una oportunidad dorada para compartir la luz de Dios. No debemos rechazarla.

Mientras que tu familia y amigos caen en el temor con las noticias que merodean, no temas alejarte y entrar en la presencia de Dios. De hecho, asegúrate que lo hagas, por tu bien y por el de ellos. Una casa puede rápidamente llenarse con el humo de ansiedad y preocupación, causando mayor conflicto entre los miembros del hogar. Tú tienes un reservorio de paz del que los miembros de tu familia no salvos no saben nada.

Mientras que buscamos testificar a nuestros seres queridos en estos tiempos, recordemos las palabras conmovedoras de Jesús, tan poderosamente aplicadas al hogar:

“[Nadie] enciende una lámpara y se pone debajo de un almud, sino sobre el candelero, y alumbra a todos los que están en la casa. Así brille vuestra luz delante de los hombres, para que vean vuestras buenas acciones y glorifiquen a vuestro Padre que está en los cielos.” (Mateo 5:15-16 NVI).

En este tiempo caótico, deja que tu comportamiento revele la bondad de Dios. Obedece el llamado de Jesús: “ Venid, apartaos de los demás a un lugar solitario y descansad un poco” (Marcos 6:31 LBLA). Luego, lleva Su descanso al hogar. Deja que Dios alumbre tu lámpara con Su paz en la privacidad de tu dormitorio. Mantén tu lámpara alumbrando en tu sala y comedor. Deja que tu paz sea el “…fragante aroma de Cristo somos para Dios entre los que se salvan y entre los que se pierden; para unos, olor de muerte para muerte, y para otros, olor de vida para vida” (2 Corintios 2:15-16 LBLA).

Aborda la transitoriedad de la vida.

Ahora, discutamos sobre como compartir verbalmente la esperanza de Dios en tiempos como estos. En Colosenses 4:3, Pablo oró: “Y, al mismo tiempo, intercedan por nosotros a fin de que Dios nos abra las puertas para proclamar la palabra, el misterio de Cristo…” (Colosenses 4:3 NVI). Justo ahora, Dios ha respondido esa oración en una escala masiva. Todos están hablando sobre la muerte, lo cual nos da una puerta poderosa y natural para conversar  el problema que el evangelio resuelve — la transitoriedad de la vida.

Piensa en eso. Hace poco, la mayoría de la población vivía sin preocupación. En el oeste, la mayor vivía con el famoso lema: "¡Come, bebe y diviértete!" Pero ahora, repentinamente todos hemos recordado la segunda parte de la frase: “¡Mañana moriremos!” Sí, el mundo entero repentinamente se ha dado cuenta de la transitoriedad de la vida.

Y el mundo se tambalea ante la revelación. La humanidad siempre ha buscado escapar de las malas noticias. Lo vemos en el Antiguo Testamento, cuando Israel corrió a los profetas de la comodidad falsa. Lo vemos hoy, mientras las masas se burlan de la Palabra de Dios. Pero ahora, no puedes escapar las malas noticias. Todos los días oímos sobre más casos de esta peligrosa enfermedad. El número de muertos aumenta de la mañana a la noche. Muchas personas se preguntan — “¿Me uniré a esa estadística grave? ¿El coronavirus me llevará a mí o a un ser querido?” Y sea que ellos lo admitan o no, millones han empezado a pensar en la eternidad. Millones han empezado a preguntarse — ¿A dónde iré cuando muera? Esta es una oportunidad crucial para el evangelio.

A luz de esa repentina alarma masiva, te animo a buscar las señales de conversación celestiales de Dios a lo largo del día. Pronto, alguien cerca a ti lamentará las estadísticas de muerte en el mundo. ¿Por qué no usar eso como una oportunidad para discutir sobre la brevedad de la vida y la urgencia de la salvación? Hay muchas maneras de hacerlo, pero te recomiendo un enfoque básico que cualquier persona puede usar.

Cuando una persona querida empieza a hablar sobre el numero de muertos del COVID-19, míralos a los ojos y gentilmente aborda la realidad de la muerte. Tu podrías decir:

“Lo sé—es muy difícil creer que muchos han muerto tan rápidamente. Me recuerda que nosotros no sabemos cuando moriremos. Sigo pensando sobre como necesitamos prepararnos para lo que sucede después de la muerte. Si murieras hoy, ¿A donde crees que irías — al cielo o al infierno?”

Cuando ellos respondan, pregúntales amablemente, “¿Por qué das esa respuesta?”

La Biblia revela cómo muchos responderán: “Muchos hombres proclaman cada uno su propia bondad,” (Proverbios 20:6 RV1960).  Sólo puedo decirte mi propia experiencia: cuando he hecho esta pregunta, 9 de 10 personas han dicho, “Yo iré al cielo porque soy una buena persona.” Cuando nuestros seres queridos responden de esta manera, necesitamos dirigirlos al estándar de bondad de Dios—La ley de Dios.

¿Cómo? Tú podrías decir algo como esto:

“Tú y yo podríamos ser buenos bajo nuestros propios estándares. Pero en el día que muramos, Dios nos juzgará de acuerdo a Su estándar de bondad. Romanos nos dice cuál es ese estándar: ‘La ley es santa, y el mandamiento es santo, justo y bueno’ (Romanos 7:12 LBLA). En realidad, eso es por lo que Dios nos juzgará a todos. Jesús dijo, ‘La palabra que he hablado, esa lo juzgará en el día final’ (Juan 12:48 LBLA). ¿Haz guardado la ley de Dios, encontrada en los Diez Mandamientos y en las Palabras de Jesús?”

Luego, gentilmente examina los Diez Mandamientos y algunos de los sermones en el Monte con ellos. Humildemente revélales que tu haz quebrantado cada ley, y pregúntales si ellos también la han quebrantado. Recuérdales que Dios es un juez justo que nunca falla la justicia. Luego, aborda claramente la realidad de la muerte, preguntándoles nuevamente:

“Entonces, cuando Dios juzgue por medio de esta ley, ¿Serás inocente o culpable? Y como resultado, ¿Dios te recompensará en el Cielo, o te castigará justamente en el Infierno?”

Esto podría parecer incómodo para ti—pero no es tan invasivo como crees. Si tú presentas la verdad en amor, la mayoría de las personas sentirán tu preocupación y apreciarán tu deseo por su bienestar eterno. Y si ellos no lo hacen, ¿Realmente importa? ¿Haz sido llamado a ganar amigos ó a predicar el evangelio?

La verdad es que, estarás asombrado de como Dios usa este enfoque simple para despertar a los demás hacia su necesidad de Cristo.

“De manera que la ley ha venido a ser nuestro ayo para conducirnos a Cristo, a fin de que seamos justificados por la fe” (Gálatas 3:24 LBLA). ¿Quieres guiar a los demás a Cristo? Estáte dispuesto a abordar la transitoriedad de la vida usando la ley de Dios.

Proclama la seguridad de la vida eterna en Jesucristo

Finalmente, en este tiempo de inseguridad y temor, podemos compartir la esperanza de Dios al proclamar la seguridad de la vida eterna en Jesucristo.

Expliqué cómo usar la ley de Dios para revelar la transitoriedad de la vida y la penalidad justa de Dios a partir de entonces. Pero no queremos dejar a los perdidos sin esperanza por su pecado—especialmente en medio de tal momento de crisis. Por supuesto, queremos quitar cualquier falsa seguridad para que nuestros seres queridos vean su peligro inminente y eterno. Pero luego, tenemos el glorioso privilegio de compartir la esperanza de Dios encontrada en la cruz de Jesucristo.

Hay muchas maneras interesantes de explicar lo que Jesús hizo en la cruz, pero compartiré mi favorita aquí. Probablemente he usado esta ilustración cientos de veces, y el Señor la ha usado para traer luz a muchos.

Cuando predicamos la ley, nosotros ponemos a nuestro oyente en la corte de Dios. Establecemos que ellos—tal como nosotros—han quebrantado las leyes de Dios, y que Dios no puede dejarlos ir de su penalidad sin satisfacer justicia. Recuerda, un juez no puede dejar libre a un criminal demostrado por sus supuestas “buenas obras”; ni por su propia misericordia. Tampoco Dios puede simplemente “perdonar” pecadores por las buenas cosas que podrían haber hecho. Él es el juez justo del universo—si Él no juzga justamente, el universo sólo puede caer en el caos, anarquía e injusticia.“El Juez de toda la tierra, ¿no hará justicia?” (Génesis 18:25 LBLA).

Entonces, ¿cómo podemos ser salvos, considerando que todos hemos quebrantado las leyes de Dios? ¿cómo puede el juez perdonar justamente al culpable? Sólo hay una manera. Si alguien paga la fianza del criminal., el juez no tendrá otra opción sino absolver al criminal de su sentencia a prisión. Paga la fianza y el juez puede hacer sonar su mazo, levantar su voz y anunciar, “Tu deuda ha sido pagada—puedes irte. ¡Eres libre!”

Y eso es lo que Jesucristo hizo por los pecadores como tú y yo. Nosotros hemos cometido los crímenes, y Jesús pagó la fianza. La sentencia de la ley de Dios estaba sobre nosotros; las llamas del infierno susurraban a nuestros pies. Luego, “a su tiempo, mientras aún éramos débiles, Cristo murió por los impíos” (Romanos 5:6 LBLA).

Si, en la cruz, Jesús recibió la penalidad total de la ley de Dios para que nosotros podamos ir libres de la prisión eterna de Dios. Como Isaías el profeta lo anticipó:

“Él fue traspasado por nuestras rebeliones, y molido por nuestras iniquidades; sobre él recayó el castigo, precio de nuestra paz, y gracias a sus heridas fuimos sanados.” (Isaías 53:5 NVI). Luego que Jesús completó Su obra sacrificial, Él alzó su voz para declarar el resultado: “tetelestai” — “Pagado en su totalidad!” (Juan 19:30). Ahora, todo el que crea en Él puede recibir perdón total de sus pecados.

Pero las buenas nuevas provee mucho más que el perdón divino (una bendición eternamente maravillosa en sí misma). Cuando recibimos a Cristo, no sólo Dios perdona nuestros crímenes—Él nos recibe en Su familia y construye nuevamente nuestros corazones. No sólo nos libera del infierno—Él prepara un hogar eterno para nosotros en Su presencia (Juan 14:3). Él nos rescata del dominio de oscuridad y nos transfiere al Reino de Su hijo amado (Colosenses 1:13). Él nos transforma de enemigos de Dios a Sus amigos reconciliados (Romanos 5:10). Y, nos da la bienvenida a una familia espiritual mundial que está empeñada en cambiar el mundo para la gloria de Dios. Qué maravillosas noticias. ¿Por qué guardarlo?

Conclusión

Cristiano(a), te recordaré de algo. En este mismo instante, billones se sienten inseguros. Ellos han ignorado el temor de la muerte por años—pero ahora la muerte los mira a la cara cada vez que encienden la televisión. Muchos se preguntan qué hay detrás del último velo humeante. Ellos ahora necesitan nuestro testificar más que antes. Conducidos por el temor, podrían escuchar más que nunca.

No perdamos esta excelente oportunidad de compartir la seguridad que tenemos en Jesucristo. Para aquellos que reciben a Cristo, aún la muerte es un regalo—un simple portal hacia la vida eterna, porque, “O el universo, o la vida, o la muerte, o lo presente o lo por venir; todo es de ustedes…” (1 Corintios 3:21-22 NVI). Derramemos la esperanza eterna de Dios en el vacío del temor y desesperación. Vertamos las gloriosas noticias de la vida eterna en un mundo al borde de la muerte.

Si lo hacemos, quizás testifiquemos una de las horas más importantes de la iglesia; un momento de despertar después de décadas de declive. Si no lo hacemos, eso se convertirá en una de las oportunidades perdidas más grandes de esta generación. Todo depende de una cosa—¿compartiremos la esperanza de Dios, o lo acumularemos para nosotros mismos?

IN TIMES LIKE THESE, don't let your heart be troubled! In John 14:1-4, Jesus gives us some precise instructions on how to react in times like these, in times when trouble strikes. Let's look at that together. Jesus said: "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know." John 14:1-4 In this passage, Jesus instructs us not to get stuck on being overwhelmed at the trouble around us. He teaches us instead to look at the everlasting promise of eternal life. The everlasting promise of an eternal home void of trouble, sickness, sorrow, or pain! In John 16:33, Jesus says, "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation (trouble); but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." Jesus never says we are going to live a life devoid of tribulation or trouble. On the contrary, He says tribulation and trouble will occur and then tells us to not let our hearts be troubled when it happens. For many, the last few years have been good. Now all of a sudden, the tide has turned, and trouble has hit us like a sledgehammer. We have to remember as God's children that he is still God, He is still in control, and He is not surprised by what is happening around the world in this pandemic. At this moment, God is not scurrying around, trying to figure out how to respond! He has already given His people the answer, and they are in His Word. "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me." and "be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." If we do those things, we will see God's response to our childlike faith and simple trust in His faithfulness. In times like these, God wants us to know He can and will do supernatural things to display the wonders of His love, mercy, grace, and power. He wants us to humbly call on His name in our times of need. Our God is always near, yet He gives us control over where we are going to look for help. Are we going to look to Him and call on His name in prayer? Or, will we put most of our trust in people or in our government. I say we should always look first to God and call on His name! Sometimes people disappoint us and misinterpret what we are saying. Or, in other cases, we will not be able to convey what we really want to say correctly. In prayer, God looks at the heart! He can see and listen through the words we speak in prayer and get the message straight from our hearts. He just wants us to come to Him in a simple childlike faith displaying our trust and dependency on Him. In Jeremiah 33:3, we read, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” I encourage you now whether you are in a spiritual or emotional high place or in a low place, to call on your God in prayer and let Him fulfill that promise in your life! In times like this, we need to remember not to fear what is happening around us but rather to revere the Lord and trust in Him. God truly is greater than all these things! Our faithful and mighty God has given us over 7,000 promises in His Word. These are promises we need to appropriate in our walk with Him in times like this. One of those promises is found in Malachi 4:2 “But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings.” Keep trusting and believing! THINK ABOUT IT: God's Word is full of wonderful promises to his people, and in times like these, we must look to Him and trust in the words He has spoken to us through his Word. Today I read some very encouraging words in Psalm 112. Verse one says, "Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who delights greatly in His commandments." We then read the blessings that come to those who fear (revere, honor) the Lord and delight in His commands. Let's focus on two specific verses. In Psalms 112:4, we read, "Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous." Here we learn the promise that even in dark times, God's light will shine on those that are upright, gracious and compassionate. These are people who aren't just looking out for their own welfare and comfort before God. They're also concerned with what's going on in the hearts of the people around them. They are gracious and compassionate people! They don't mock people who are fearful. Instead, they seek to bring God's comfort to them. They share the promises of God with them and lift them up. The people described in this verse honor God and care about people simultaneously. Then in Psalm 112:7-8, we read, "He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD. His heart is steady; he will not be afraid." This is a beautiful promise for those who fear/revere the Lord and delight in his commandments. These men and women are not afraid of what is ahead because they know God is already there and has already provided a solution for them. These people trust that God will be faithful, and for that reason, they don't live in fear. When fear comes their way, they remind themselves of the promises in God's Word and walk on in victory. That is God's will for each and every one of us. Right? God wants us to trust Him at all times. He wants us to trust that His faithfulness and power are not limited by our present circumstances. Right? Romans 15:13 says, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” In this verse, the Apostle Paul reminds us that the God of hope will fill us with all joy and peace as we trust in Him. He teaches us that the result of that trust will be an overflowing of hope! That my friends is a wonderful promise! We need the four things Paul speaks of in this verse in our lives right now. We need trust in God, we need the joy and peace of God, and we need an abundance of hope. Right? My friends, there is only one place to get those things, and that is from our God, and His word points us in the right direction. In Isaiah 12:3, we read, “With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.” God’s wells of salvation are always full; they don’t go up and down like the stock market. So come now to the wells that never run dry and draw deep from those wells! Don’t just skim the surface! Reach down deep and let God refresh you! Then our hearts will be full of God’s hope, peace, and joy. Peace, joy, and hope are three heavenly gifts that are evidence of our trust in God, especially in times like these. PEACE IN TROUBLED TIMES: Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid." John 14:27 God's peace is a supernatural gift and is meant to have a supernatural effect on God's children and to bring calm into the most difficult of situations. It is heavenly, a fruit of the Holy Spirit. God's peace cannot be affected by anything in the natural world; it is a God-sent gift! God's peace is spiritual; it is supernatural! I believe it is the same peace Jesus received in the garden after praying to the Father in anxiety over the suffering that was ahead of Him. With a heart of heaviness, Jesus confessed to the disciples with Him, "My soul is consumed with sorrow to the point of death." Matthew 26:38. Then "Going a little farther, He fell facedown and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will." Matthew 26:39. Jesus humbled Himself and prayed three times regarding what was ahead of him. After the third time, He received the answer He needed and was ready to leave the garden to fulfill God's plan of redemption. It was God's heavenly peace, power, and love that got Jesus through the beatings, the scourging, the nailing to the cross, and to proclaim, "It is finished." John 19:30. This fruit of peace comes through the Holy Spirit, who Jesus said would be "another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever" John 14:16. This peace does not fly away when the hard times come. It's presence becomes more potent than ever before when things are the most difficult. This peace is an eternal fruit of the Holy Spirit and is provided to us through the promises in God's word. I want to encourage you right now amid this thing the world calls a pandemic to embrace this heaven-sent peace of God. Start by thanking God for it! Then believe God for it! Believe it is part of your heavenly heritage as a believer in Jesus Christ and as an ambassador of Jesus Christ. God wants us to be a witness of His power and His grace through difficult times.
