NAGOYA-KEI: All Possible Bands
Resume:
Nagoya kei is a visual kei subgenre, mainly focusing on bands from Nagoya, Japan, which emerged primarily between 1993 and 2004. It is characterized by a dark, theatrical, and melancholic style, influenced by Kuroyume and positive punk.
Key characteristics include:
Aesthetics: A "subtractive" visual with a focus on black and white and a sickly makeup appearance, less elaborate than kote kei.
Origins: The subgenre was heavily influenced by the band Kuroyume.
Scene Growth: Developed around companies like noir and the livehouse MUSIC FARM.
Musicality: Inspired by positive punk and GASTUNK, featuring a sludgy, bass-forward sound in the second wave.
Periods: Had a first wave that ended around 1996 and a second wave starting in 1998, with bands like kein and Phobia.
Nagoya kei is considered a style that ended around 2004, although some bands continue to follow this aesthetic. more details at: https://vk.gy/blog/what-is-nagoya-kei/
Based on vk.gy, I tried to compile all possible Nagoya-kei bands into a playlist, remembering that they were classified by the users themselves, some of which may not have the same characteristics, just because they were formed in Nagoya. Another observation is that some bands have more than one VK classification, not being Nagoya-kei only.
Bands I couldn't find on YouTube: Baccarat, barby, BLAIR, CHRONICLE (クロニクル), CORPSE ANOTHER PERSON, Corpse Corps, Diza Wä・re, dizarray, Duty, Ea -Visual Diversity-, HEROINE, LOA-ROAR, Lunatic Maria, Mellzoviey (メルゾヴィ), Mephisto (魂爵惑), Mirror, Miss☆Tea☆Blue, NAVIS, Ne:LiMiT, nord, OBLAAT, ЯEVIVAL, Roses., Shelley, SICK, SILU(:)ÉT, the Abyss, Tragus., UNDEAD, VEIRL, ZILD.
