The final presentation! I am really happy with how it turned out. I feel like it’s a complete project and it really shows that you can do more than you think with cardboard.

During the final presentation I showed how I work around the columns in the space. Above you can see step by step how the system works.

In the first week of Q2 we were asked to visit museum Lakenhal in Leiden. It’s a newly renovated building and we had the honour to get a lecture from one of the architects later in the week. It was nice to hear about all the renovations and small details that they’ve put into the museum after we’ve visited the place ourselves. This reveals that even as a architecture student, you may still overlook numerous important details from a design.

Last friday we had our final presentation. It was a silent presentation so our posters and maquettes had to speak for themselves.

Last friday I went to the Dutch Design Week with my father. It was soo big and impressing to see all of the projects that people are working on. Sometimes it was a bit overwhelming because I didn't know where to look anymore.
We went to the Klokgebouw, Ketelhuisplein, Piet Hein Eek and Microlab. I saw a lot of different ways of displaying projects and objects. I also focused on the different light plans every room had. As you can see in the pictures above there were different approaches off using light.

The last part of the excursion was a workshop. After a short presentation, we were asked to make a light plan for a house. It was fun to experiment with the information that we learned earlier in the day and transform this house with a light plan.

In the afternoon we went to the Kazerne, which is a location where you can sleep, eat and enjoy design at the same time. We enjoyed a delicious lunch and after we got a tour through the exhibition. They were preparing for the Dutch Design Week that was starting this weekend. So there was a lot to see. Really fun and different kind of objects and projects. Overall a very interesting tour.

Last wednesday we went to Eindhoven for an excursion. In the morning we went to LAC and had a tour through different scenarios. First she showed us an office space, with a flex workspace, meeting room, normal workspace and a single workspace. She showed us what lighting helps people to focus or how you can make people feel more at ease. The fun part was that you experienced everything while she was telling the information.
After the office, she showed us a supermarket and a clothing store. With changing the light you can make people walk slower, while looking more at the products. Or you can make people walk faster so they get only what they were coming for. It was so interesting to see how much you can do with only changing the lights.
It was so interesting to see and experience, that I forgot to take pictures in some of the rooms. Maybe other tumblr pages have more pictures!

On the 28th of september I went to Museum Arnhem with my parents. It was a beautiful museum with a couple of exhibitions. Every exhibition had their own theme and way of displaying all the items. It gave me a lot of inspiration! Because we’re going to be working with a light scheme soon, I also focused on the different ways of using the lights. As you can see in the pictures above, every display had their own way of using lights.

Today I went back to aerospace to visit the basement again. It made me realize how big a lot of the object are. This helped me realise I need to make some changes in my design regarding how I wanted to display all the objects. It was useful to go there for the second time

In addition to the column workshop I started thinking more about the use of the columns to divide the space. I ended on a wall that includes objects in a fun way while also giving information. I made a quick moodboard to go with it and help visualize my idea.

For the Hinke Majoor workshop we had to make a maquette of the columns, scale 1:10. You can see two seperate ideas to use the columns. The first one are rotating blocks which provide information. The second one is a way to divide the space using the columns.

Today we presented our analyses about the Valerie Traan gallery. It's a complicated building with split levels and open spaces. So we decided to make the ground floor with a split level to help other students understand the concept of the gallery. The scale is 1:100
