The developer Per Høpfner, working with the Dansk Olie og Naturgas company (now DONG Energy) was interested in creating housing in Ørestad on land purchased from the state. Despite the fact that Bjarke Ingels and Julien De Smedt had not built anything on such a large scale before, he decided to commission PLOT, their architecture firm, to design VM Houses. Høpfner's son Peter explained how cooperative Ingels turned out to be, always ready to adapt his plans if the costs were too high. "VM may look crazy," Høpfner remarked, "but it came in on budget." He believes the project's success was due in part to the frequent discussions the architect had with the developer in his role as general contractor. Ingels lived in the complex until 2008 when he moved into the Mountain Dwellings.

The Braga Municipal Stadium located in Portugal was designed by 2011 Pritzker Prize winner Eduardo Souto de Moura. The ceremony for the Pritzker Prize was held just a few short weeks ago in New York City. Delivering a speech for the award winner, President Barack Obama spoke of Souto de Moura's use of materials and attention to detail, specifically siting the Braga Municipal Stadium as "perhaps Eduardo's most famous work" where he "took great care to position the stadium in such a way that anyone who couldn't afford a ticket could watch the match from the surrounding hillside." When I was there with my friend, Braga Municipal Stadium was closed that day. We asked local kids, where they are watching the game. They pointed on the hill and showed us direction. After few minutes we found this awesome scenery. #eduardosoutodemoura #braga #stadium
