DIRTY TAPES is back with another NYC Takeover!!! Focusing in on the label’s heart and soul - we are proud to bring together some of the iconic producers who represent the very foundation of the label, and introduce some new talent pushing the post-Dilla progressive hip hop / genre defining experimental music. Dirty Tapes has been in the forefront of New York’s ever-exapanding underground scene. Over the past few years they have placed Brooklyn back on the map as epicenter of East Coast’s underground experimental beat-scene. Pushing the revival of analog culture, VHS experimentation, highly praised cassette releases, along with a string of Boiler Room events - Dirty Tapes has carved out a unique platform and aesthetic in progressive experimental music and revived the indie DIY tape-culture alongside its contemporaries. Headling are some of DT’s alumni: TUAMIE - Flying out from ATL, one RVA’s most acclaimed producers - Tuamie put out his first enigmatic cassette on Dirty Tapes back in 2012! Since then he built up his catalogue releasing the highly praised “Masta Killa” vinyl via Grand Garden Records and “The Gift Vol. 4” via DJ House Shoe’s own label Street Corner Music. Making his triumphant return to Brooklyn, we can expect a repertoire of neck-snapping production from this young cat with an old soul. https://dirtytapes.bandcamp.com/album/dt001-dink-tuamie DIL WITHERS - Flying in from Seattle, Dil Withers is the classic cool, calm collected hip hop cat and jazz afficionado. Sporting a pedigree of releases that includes collaborations with greats Ohbliv and Sir Froderick, Dil’s classic style of jazz-heavy hip hop takes you back to an era that is rarely replicated and overlooked by today’s overhype producers. His classic split tape with Ohbliv (recently going for more than $50 on discogs) set the standard for cassette releases back in 2013 - sorry we won’t have any of those tapes for sale at the event. Look out for his new tape “Studies” dropping soon on Grand Garden Records. https://dirtytapes.bandcamp.com/album/dt002-ohbliv-dil-withers DELOFI - Hailing from Cleveland Ohio - Delofi is the co-founder and aethetic figurehead of Dirty Tapes. Equal parts devotional, experimental, and soulful, this Cleveland native has been consistently putting out some of the curious experimental music via Leaving Records, Acorn Tapes, Hex Tapes and his roots label Cleveland Tapes. His split tape with Japan’s BUN (Fumitake Tamura) tape release in 2014 created some international hype and is one of the most beautiful tapes on the label. https://dirtytapes.bandcamp.com/album/dt005-bun-delofi NOMAD (Pacific Yew) - Flying out from Texas - one of the newer cats to come into the fold on Dirty Tapes makes his debut under the moniker Pacific Yew. His latest super-progessive project “((YAWNING))” (think post-Flying Lotus) was recently picked up via the Extra Lovely Label. Expect a new tape release on Dirty Tapes in the coming year. https://extralovelyrecords.bandcamp.com/album/yawning EWONEE - A New York native and longtime label affiliate, Ewonee (pronounced E-won) is constantly pushing out steady nodders that play hide and seek with both sample and rhythm. Ewonee made his debut on Dirty Tapes Boiler Room last year. Recently signed to BEAT HAUS records, the young beatsmith is gradually growing into a legend .
